Ch. 1176Lady of Calamity

After Naram freed the souls he had imprisoned, his strength fell, and Soren prepared to confront him and Kelemvor in the Land of Bones. Just before Soren departed with the Princess, Vivian, and Lillian, the Lady of Calamity appeared and cursed his enemies with misfortune.

  • The Lich Queen of the Githyanki fled to the Astral Plane when the Lord of Radiance entered the conflict, while Naram's strength rapidly declined as the freed souls departed.
  • Soren halted the Arcane Tower's ultra-long-range strikes, handed its permissions to Goria, and prepared to go to the Land of Bones.
  • The Fallen Witch embraced Soren, Goria wished him a safe return, and Vivian and Lillian insisted on accompanying him.
  • The Princess and the Goddess of Agriculture arrived, while Soren noted that most of the goddesses he knew had not come to help him fight.
  • The Lady of Calamity appeared, kissed Soren, and blessed him by cursing his enemies with misfortune.

Ch. 1177Life Drain!

At the Land of Bones, Naram battled Kelemvor for control of the Death Pantheon, using his powerful magic and undead forces to overwhelm him. Naram’s Life Drain remained active despite Kelemvor’s attempt to dispel it, draining the vitality of everyone nearby as the fight continued.

  • Soren trusted the Lady of Doom’s warning that his enemy would be shrouded in doom.
  • Naram summoned thousands of Skeleton Warriors and powerful undead as he fought the Lord of Radiance’s former opponent, Kelemvor.
  • Kelemvor opened the Domain of Eternal Rest, but Naram’s Divine Aura nullified it and disrupted Kelemvor’s spells.
  • Kelemvor charged into melee and struck Naram, while Naram killed Kelemvor’s worshippers with Area Touch of Death.
  • Naram cast Drain Life on everyone nearby, and Kelemvor’s Legendary Dispel Magic failed to stop it.

Ch. 1178Decisive Battle!

Soren waited for Vezesha to reveal herself before striking at Naram and Kelemvor with the Arcane Tower’s cannon. He then entered the battered battlefield as Goria began teleporting golems and magical constructs into the fight.

  • Naram’s life-draining power killed Kelemvor’s worshippers whenever Kelemvor attacked, forcing Kelemvor to order his followers to retreat.
  • Naram filled the battlefield with tens of thousands of Undead, while Soren held back and waited for Kelemvor’s hidden ally.
  • Vezesha appeared, dispelled Naram’s life drain, and attacked with powerful area spells, giving Kelemvor an opening to strike Naram.
  • Soren ordered the Arcane Tower to fire an indiscriminate energy blast that devastated both sides and left Naram and Kelemvor badly battered.
  • Soren entered the battlefield as frost slowed the Undead, while Goria activated the Spatial Beacon and prepared to teleport golems and magical constructs into the battle.

Ch. 1179The Fall of Kelemvor!

Soren and his allies attacked the weakened Kelemvor after Vezesha fled the battlefield. Soren killed Kelemvor, causing the Domain of Eternal Rest to collapse as his divine power flowed mostly into Soren.

  • Vezesha saw Soren and his allies arrive and fled, abandoning her pact with Kelemvor.
  • Goria used the Arcane Tower to strike the battlefield again while Soren, Vivian, Lillian, and the princess turned their attention to Kelemvor.
  • The princess trapped Kelemvor in ice as Vivian and Lillian joined Soren’s assault.
  • Soren battered Kelemvor with divine power shockwaves and rushed him before he could recover.
  • The princess froze the area, and Soren split Kelemvor in two, killing him.
  • Kelemvor’s death collapsed the Domain of Eternal Rest, and most of his divine power went to Soren.

Ch. 1180Great Divinity!

After Soren killed Kelemvor, he absorbed the death god’s power and ascended to Greater Divinity, taking over the Lord of the Dead portfolio. He then rallied allies to prevent Naram from escaping and end the Undead Scourge.

  • Naram watched in horror as Soren killed Kelemvor and claimed most of the power released by his death.
  • Soren reached Greater Divinity, restored the Eternal Rest domain, and gained the Dead portfolio along with several domains and the Lord of the Dead portfolio.
  • Soren’s strengthened divine power let him resist the Time of Troubles and perceive his God's Realm more clearly.
  • Soren ordered the undead nearby cleared and summoned constructs to press the attack against Naram.
  • Soren told Ilmater that taking over the death portfolio would end the Undead Scourge and restore the River Styx, persuading him to help stop Naram from escaping.

Ch. 1181The Lady of the Night!

Soren and his allies fought Naram as other deities joined the battle to claim his portfolios. The Lady of Night ambushed Naram and seized much of his power, while Soren absorbed a large share of death’s power and led his allies away to stabilize it.

  • Shar, the Lady of Night, and other deities manifested their avatars, hoping to claim Naram’s portfolios.
  • Soren attacked Naram, and the arriving deities joined the battle as Lolth ambushed the Goddess of Magic and Shar turned against the Lady of Silver Moon.
  • Soren and the Goddess of Misfortune gravely wounded Naram, but Nightbringer struck the final blow and seized several of his portfolios.
  • The Lady of Night revealed her greater divinity and vanished, while the Goddess of Magic and the Lady of Silver Moon dispersed their endangered avatars.
  • Soren absorbed Naram’s power of death, gained roughly 130 points of divine rank and 100 points of divine rank value, and led his allies away to integrate the power.

Ch. 1182The [Destiny] Domain!

Soren withdrew rather than fight the Lady of Night and focused on absorbing the Death Portfolio so he could reclaim the Netherworld. After the Goddess of Agriculture warned him about the devils’ gains there, the Lady of Doom collected the [Destiny] domain as payment for backing him.

  • Soren left the confrontation with the Lady of Night and the Spider Queen, while they noted that the Lady of Silver Moon and the Goddess of Magic had spent much of their Divine Power.
  • The Goddess of Agriculture visited Soren in Port Nyanzaru and relayed her father’s warning that devils had secured interests in the River Styx and the Netherworld was in danger.
  • Soren told the Goddess of Agriculture he would begin reclaiming the Netherworld within three days after assimilating the power of Death.
  • The Lady of Doom appeared and demanded the [Destiny] domain, which Soren handed over as payment for her support.
  • The Lady of Doom absorbed the golden Divinity, kissed Soren, and departed after blessing him and his enemies.

Ch. 1183The Weave's Causality!

After the battle, Soren arranged for his allies to prepare for the end of the Time of Troubles and discussed the dangerous Magic portfolio with Goria. As the divine energy storm began to recede, Goria told Soren she would accept his choice about whether to take on the Weave's karma.

  • Soren thanked the Princess, who asked him to visit Anna and give her a child before the gods returned to their realm.
  • Soren told Lillian and Vivian to move the God's Realm near the Netherworld and, if possible, the mainstream of the River Styx.
  • The Princess disappeared in snowflakes, warning that the Time of Troubles was nearing its end and that Anna would remain in the mortal world.
  • At Port Nyanzaru, Soren watched the stars brighten as the energy storm began to recede and the new year passed.
  • Soren asked Goria whether she feared death and offered to help her take the [Magic] portfolio, warning her about the Weave's dangerous karma.
  • Goria said she wanted to stand beside Soren and would leave the choice to him.

Ch. 1184The Ancient God of Death—Jergal!

Soren became the Human Pantheon’s sole God of Death and the new Lord of the Dead, but maintaining Eternal Rest left him vulnerable and unable to leave Port Nyanzaru for long. In the Netherworld, the Lady of Night confirmed her fulfilled agreement with Jergal, who returned to recording the multiverse’s history and eventual end.

  • Soren fused the death-related portfolios he had gathered and became the Human Pantheon’s sole God of Death and ruler of the Netherworld.
  • Soren remained tied to Port Nyanzaru while he mastered Death, reclaimed dominion over the Netherworld, and maintained Eternal Rest through his avatars.
  • The Lady of Night visited Jergal’s temple and told him that the new Lord of the Dead had emerged and that she had received her agreed reward.
  • Jergal approved of Soren’s cautious rule and reflected that he supported the office of Lord of the Dead only while its holder fulfilled his duties.
  • After the Lady of Night departed, Jergal resumed recording events, continuing his mission to document the multiverse until its destruction.

Ch. 1185Taking Command of the Underworld!

Soren arrived in the devastated Netherworld and began rebuilding its operations after Naram’s deals had left it stripped of souls and servants. He created Attendants of the God of Death, appointed specialized angels, and left three Planar Allies to help restore order.

  • Soren found the Netherworld in ruins, with the City of Judgment nearly empty and the devils having taken countless souls.
  • Soren opened a gate to his God's Realm and summoned twelve shadow angels to the Netherworld.
  • Soren used divine power to transform the shadow angels into Attendants of the God of Death.
  • Soren granted the [Truth] domain to his wisest servant, creating the first Judgement Angel.
  • Soren granted the [Slaughter] domain to a female servant and the [Tracking] domain to another servant.
  • Soren promoted three Outsider Servants to Planar Allies to lead the attendants and restore order.

Ch. 1186Reshaping the Order!

Soren rebuilt the Netherworld’s basic order by creating an army of death servants to clear its waterways, judge souls, and restore the City of Judgment. With the realm functioning again, he turned his attention back to the approaching final wave of the Time of Troubles.

  • Soren established the Netherworld’s core functions and transformed heroic spirits into death servants with help from three Planar Allies.
  • Soren created nearly five thousand death servants, who cleared the City of Judgment and fought devils and soul thieves along the River Styx.
  • Soren considered draining the Wall of the Faithless to empower more servants but abandoned the plan to avoid destroying it.
  • The Judgement Angel began guiding and judging souls, sending them to God's Realms, Hell, the Abyss, or the Origin Sea according to their fate.
  • Soren restored order to the Netherworld in a day and concluded that Asmodeus’s acquisition of souls meant the Time of Troubles’ final wave was near.
  • Soren assigned twelve Death Angels to transfer souls to their God's Realms and prepared to leave the Netherworld to address the continuing crisis.

Ch. 1187Ferryman of the River Styx!

Soren accepted the Yugoloths’ request to continue serving the Death Pantheon and made a group of them into new Styx Ferrymen. She left them responsible for reclaiming tributaries seized by demons and devils, while the story established their role across the Lower Planes.

  • After the contest for the Lord of the Dead ended, Soren’s Attendant of the God of Death retook the main stream of the River Styx and killed the devils who remained in the Netherworld.
  • Nycaloth Commander Canolas arrived with Yugoloth envoys and gifts, asking Soren to uphold the ancient pact and let them continue serving the Death Pantheon.
  • Soren upheld the pact but required the Yugoloths to reclaim tributaries seized by demons and devils to prove their worth.
  • Canolas agreed to send the armies of Inferno Hell to help Soren regain control of the rivers.
  • Soren transformed the chosen Yugoloths into Styx Ferrymen, granting them new abilities and assigning them regions across the Lower Planes.

Ch. 1189Guide of the Netherworld--Lulumiao!

Soren made Lulumiao his subordinate deity by bestowing on her the portfolio of Guide of the Netherworld, along with the Tracking domain and the power to turn undead. Lulumiao became a quasi-divine goddess and learned her duty of guiding souls to the City of Judgment.

  • Soren found Lulumiao practicing her new abilities and offered to give her a portfolio if she served him.
  • Lulumiao agreed to serve Soren, though she did not understand what a portfolio was.
  • Soren took Lulumiao to the temple and bestowed on her the Guide of the Netherworld portfolio, the Tracking domain, and the ability to turn undead.
  • Lulumiao's divine power awakened and she became a quasi-divine goddess, retaining the Cat and Dance portfolios from the Goddess of Cats and Dance.
  • Soren learned that Lulumiao also possessed the Charm and Trickery domains, and noted that Trickery could make her stronger than other quasi-deities.

Ch. 1190Academic witches! [Happy New Year]

Port Nyanzaru celebrated Lulumiao’s appointment as a True God while the city expanded its temples and farmland. At the great library, Dinavala encouraged fellow witch Tinaels to take City Hall construction work and prepare for the upcoming three links project.

  • Port Nyanzaru celebrated Lulumiao’s ascension, and the city continued planning its Great Temple and expanding farmland.
  • Dinavala left the great library with her assistant golem, Raphael, carrying books and materials.
  • Tinaels thanked Dinavala for notes that helped her learn Transmute Rock to Mud, and Dinavala suggested she take land reclamation assignments.
  • Tinaels told Dinavala she had accepted an assignment to reclaim one square kilometer of land.
  • Dinavala warned Tinaels that City Hall was preparing a three links project covering Port Nyanzaru, the Port District, and twelve other towns, and Tinaels resolved to prepare.

Ch. 1191The Layout Begins!

Soren assessed the coming final conflict of the Time of Troubles and prepared Port Nyanzaru to withstand the upheaval. In the Abyss, he assembled a vast demon army and set his sights on Doresain as the next step toward challenging Yeenoghu for the throne of the Demon Prince.

  • Soren received reports of escalating conflicts between the Lady of Silver Moon and the Lady of Night, the Spider Queen hunting elven deities, and angels appearing near the City of Radiance.
  • Soren concluded that the Lord of Radiance and the Seven Mounts of Celestia would likely have to face Asmodeus and the Nine Hells, while he would protect Port Nyanzaru rather than commit its army.
  • Soran consolidated control of the Realm of the Forgottens after capturing Nathlatar and gathered newly hatched demons and defecting fiends into his forces.
  • Soren concentrated the demon armies of two planes at Gurumba Arena and chose Doresain, the King of Ghouls, as his next target.
  • Soren planned to defeat Doresain and then attack Yeenoghu's stronghold to pursue the throne of the Demon Prince.

Ch. 1192High Demon Lord!

Soran reached the limits of his mature Balor form and considered advancing into special Balor classes to grow stronger. After dressing, he headed to the palace front as his demon armies gathered for his summons.

  • Renaliss sent a pair of newly born elite Succubus twins to serve Soran and monitor his court while she managed her vast fiefdom.
  • Soran emerged from the magma pool with his strength at a bottleneck, having gained the Death domain’s power and minor attribute increases from his true body.
  • Soran recognized that he would need to pursue special Balor classes such as Executioner or Headhunter to advance further.
  • Soran dressed with help from his Succubus maids and went to the palace front as demon armies gathered near the portal from the Realm of the Forgottens and Nathlatar.

Ch. 1193The King of Ghouls—Doresain!

Soran led a vast demon army into the White Kingdom to attack Doresain, the King of Ghouls. After the demons overwhelmed the kingdom’s outer defenses and breached its bone wall, Doresain faced the invading army as legendary demons turned their attention toward him.

  • Soran arrived in the White Kingdom with a Demon Legion nearly three hundred thousand strong after Doresain recalled his servants to defend the realm.
  • Low-tier ghouls swarmed the invading demons, but Soran’s forces killed hundreds of thousands and advanced toward the kingdom.
  • Soran’s army encountered Doresain’s nether ghouls and other undead across the bone-ash Death Wasteland.
  • The demons reached the White Kingdom’s bone wall, where Doresain watched their immense army with fear and madness.
  • Six-armed mariliths led the assault, demons broke through the wall, and dozens of legendary demons focused on Doresain in hopes of earning advancement.

Ch. 1194The White Kingdom!

Soran defeated Doresain, the King of Ghouls, in the White Kingdom and gained the domain of trickery. Meanwhile, Lulumiao’s temple was completed in Port Nyanzaru, and Soran prepared to restore the Abyssal Blood Pool before confronting Yeenoghu.

  • Soran led his forces through the White Kingdom and fought Doresain amid the flames of his Body of Blazing Flames.
  • Soran overpowered Doresain’s strength and spells, then burned the King of Ghouls to charred remains.
  • Soran absorbed parts of Doresain’s divine power, gaining the domain of trickery, while other power spread among the demons and surviving ghouls.
  • In Port Nyanzaru, Lulumiao’s temple was completed, and Soran blessed it as her Overdeity.
  • Soran ordered the White Kingdom razed, the ghouls killed, and the Abyssal Blood Pool restored before he pursued Yeenoghu and sought an important ally.

Ch. 1195That Cunning Bitch!

Soran met the Succubus Queen Malignant in Clediana’s territory and urged her to attack Yeenoghu while the Gnoll King was weakened. Malignant claimed she lacked the forces to help, but Soran exposed two armies she had kept secret.

  • Soran left his palace and traveled with his demon guards to Clediana’s territory, intending to meet Malignant rather than Clediana.
  • Soran dismissed the guards and identified Clediana’s greater succubus maid as Malignant, who revealed her true form.
  • Malignant congratulated Soran for defeating Doresain and claimed her power had diminished and her forces had been divided.
  • Soran urged Malignant to take advantage of Yeenoghu’s weakened position and help destroy the Gnoll King.
  • Malignant claimed she had only one Succubus Legion, but Soran revealed that she secretly controlled a Sukar legion and a large half-fiend army on the 570th layer.

Ch. 1196Joining Forces!

Soran persuaded Succubus Queen to join him against Yeenoghu, promising her half the spoils and his territory. They planned to recruit Minotaur King Baphomet as well, while Soran warned that Yeenoghu’s stolen Obyrith power and three heads of the Flail of Ages made him a dangerous opponent.

  • Soran convinced Succubus Queen that defeating Yeenoghu would protect her territory and promised her half the spoils, including Yeenoghu’s lands.
  • Succubus Queen agreed and ordered Gazer Observer to assemble her Half-Fiend Legion.
  • Soran proposed recruiting Minotaur King Baphomet, but Succubus Queen objected because she disliked Obox-ob, Baphomet’s secret supporter.
  • Soran explained that Yeenoghu had grown more powerful by stealing Obyrith power and acquiring three heads of the Flail of Ages.
