Ning Qi was a man with ALS in his previous life before transmigrating into the Great Yan Dynasty's Snow Plum Manor. As an infant, he survived the manor's massacre when his parents, Ning Ye and Jiang Xuemei, hid him from Lord Feng's forces. During the attack, he awakened max-level comprehension and created the Innate Fetal Breathing Technique to evade discovery 557.

Dragon Mountain Daoist rescued the infant from the burning manor, recognized his connection to Ning Ye and Jiang Xuemei, and gave him the name Ning Qi.
