Overview

Dao Harmonization is the final of the eight stages within the Four Steps to Immortality. Its cultivators merge with the Dao, with their physical bodies and Nascent Souls further merging into heaven, earth, and the Spirit Realm itself. They become beings of rules rather than merely cultivators who borrow or store rule power. 238 295

A Dao Harmonization cultivator completely masters one rule of the Spirit Realm. This limitation makes mastering multiple rules extraordinarily time-consuming, yet reaching this realm is still considered the necessary threshold for attempting to merge with a Spirit Realm. 217

In the Mountain and Sea Realm, Dao Harmonization cultivators are regarded as the most supreme ordinary beings. Their lifespan reaches millions of years—an epoch—and they are exceptionally difficult to kill so long as their underlying rules remain intact. 295

Characteristics

Rule Body

Dao Harmonization cultivators possess a Rule Body: their physical body and Nascent Soul are fully rule-ized and have become part of the rules they cultivate. 295 352

• They can transform into their affiliated rule to evade otherwise lethal attacks.
• Destroying their manifested body alone is insufficient; fragments of their rule can recondense into their form. 295
• They can mobilize the rules of the Spirit Realm with far greater freedom than lower-realm cultivators. 295
• Their rule-based nature makes them difficult, but not impossible, to destroy. A concentrated mass of rules from many cultivators can destabilize and tear apart a Rule Body. 353

Authority Over Rules

The realm represents a qualitative change in a cultivator's relationship with the Power of Rules.

Dao Harmonization cultivators are compared to masters living beside their own “lake” of the Great Dao: unlike lower cultivators, who can only borrow from the lake, they are effectively inseparable from it. 352

Longevity and Survival

• Lifespan reaches millions of years, described as one epoch. 295
• As long as the cultivator's rule is not destroyed, the cultivator is not truly destroyed. 295
• Their connection to the Spirit Realm is also a weakness: the realm's will can interfere with the rules they use, including preventing Dao Harmonization Old Ancestors from killing one another under certain circumstances. 295

Limitations

• A Dao Harmonization cultivator generally fully masters only one Spirit Realm rule; mastering additional rules demands an astronomical amount of time. 217
• Their power remains tied to the Spirit Realm's rules rather than being wholly their own. Ning Qi distinguishes this from the World Lord path, where mastered rules belong completely to the cultivator. 273
• Dao Harmonization is not the end of cultivation. The Old Ancestors' battles operate at the level of the Great Dao, beyond ordinary Dao Harmonization control over Spirit Realm rules. 396
• Geniuses seeking a higher path aim to establish a truly personal Great Dao rather than remain limited to the Dao of their Spirit Realm. 396 424

Role in the Spirit Realm War

The early War Domain could not accommodate Dao Harmonization cultivators. Both sides expected more stable domains to form before these experts could participate directly. 302 303

The Vast Origin Realm later dispatched twenty early Dao Harmonization cultivators led by Xue Shidi. Because the War Domain was not yet sufficiently stable, they had to sever part of their cultivation to enter. 338 339

As the war domains stabilized, large numbers of Dao Harmonization cultivators descended. One hundred Immortal Sect elders entered the Southwest War Domain alone, dramatically shifting the balance of power over lower-realm forces. 351

• Only early Dao Harmonization cultivators could initially enter certain newly stabilized domains. 357
• Once connected territories made the War Domain more stable, late-stage and limit-level Dao Harmonization cultivators could also enter. 358 359

• Wei Wuyai — Former late-stage Dao Harmonization Grand Elder of the Bloodfire Immortal Sect; survives as a remnant soul before pledging allegiance to Ning Qi. 303 343
• Sikong Qing — Azure Profound Sect ancestor who cultivates the Wind Rule; newly advanced Dao Harmonization cultivator during his confrontation with Ning Qi. 295
• Xue Shidi — Sage Ancestor's disciple, specializing in slaughter and blood rules; leads twenty self-severed Dao Harmonization cultivators into the War Domain. 338 339
