Background / History
In his previous life, Tang San was raised by Tang Lan, an Outer Sect Elder of the Tang Sect. Tang Lan named him, raised him to adulthood, and taught him hidden-weapon crafting. Later accusations claim that Tang San stole the Tang Sect’s secret manual; Tang San admits taking it but argues that he left behind three Buddha Fury Tang Lotuses and did not leak the sect’s information. 724 727
Tang San is a transmigrator whose soul and mental strength are unusually formidable. His cultivation method, the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, includes the Purple Demon Eye; he is also said to have devoured his original host’s soul after transmigrating. 62
Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village under Tang Hao, whose despair following Ah Yin’s sacrifice left him neglectful and frequently drunk. Grandfather Jack nevertheless secured Tang San’s opportunity to attend Nuoding Academy. 107 236 237 Su Yan’s account further maintains that Tang Hao’s attitude changed sharply after Tang San revealed the Clear Sky Hammer, implying that Tang Hao recognized the body’s significance despite his earlier neglect. 107 108
At Shrek Academy, Tang San initially struggles with being overlooked while Su Yan receives widespread support. His jealousy and desire to be acknowledged by Xiao Wu repeatedly push him into reckless confrontations. 32 69 71
Personality
Tang San is proud, competitive, and highly unwilling to concede defeat. He endures severe injuries against Zhao Wuji rather than surrendering, driven largely by his need to prove himself to Xiao Wu and establish that he is not inferior to Su Yan. 71
He is also calculating and secretive. His use of poisoned hidden weapons earns him a reputation as a dangerous and unconventional fighter, while later revelations about his past-life research into the Buddha Fury Tang Lotus portray him as ambitious from a young age. 71 727 728
Tang San’s jealousy can make him hostile toward perceived rivals for Xiao Wu’s attention. He disparages Su Yan’s Little Monkey as a useless Martial Soul and is angered that Xiao Wu addresses the monkey with the intimate name “Xiao San.” 8
Defeats and humiliation strongly affect his confidence. His Blue Silver Grass being countered by fire, Soul Tools, and stronger opponents leaves him despondent until Yu Xiaogang reminds him of his Clear Sky Hammer. 313 315 317
Despite repeated setbacks, Tang San is intensely vengeful and resolves to repay humiliation once he possesses sufficient strength. 444 484
He is also capable of preserving himself through deception. After enduring a beating from the Destruction Trio, he feigns unconsciousness to stop the assault while retaining his chance to take revenge later. 734
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass as his first Martial Soul and the Clear Sky Hammer as his second. 62 317
- Blue Silver Grass — A control-oriented Tool Martial Soul used for binding and parasitic attacks. 32 71
- Clear Sky Hammer — Identified by Yu Xiaogang as the continent’s number-one Tool Martial Soul. 317
- Clear Sky Hammer combat — Tang San publicly reveals the hammer against Zhao Wuji and later employs the Clear Sky Sect’s Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer technique against Wang Dong’er. 71 443
- Limitation — Blue Silver Grass is vulnerable to fire before its later improvements; powerful flame attributes can suppress it. 313
- Later development — A later Tang San awakens the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. 407
- Altered timeline limitation — Without the Immortal Herbs that originally gave his grass ice-and-fire resistance, the current early-timeline Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass is stated to lack the opportunity to evolve into the Blue Silver Emperor. 313
- Shadow-clone counter — Tang San is unable to effectively damage Zhu Zhuqing’s shadow-clone Soul Skill and ultimately surrenders after being unable to resolve its exchanges with her main body. 269 270
Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record
Tang San’s inherited cultivation system provides several distinctive techniques. 62 442 480
- Purple Demon Eye — Enhances mental strength and manifests as purple light in his eyes. 62 71
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Movement technique that creates afterimages and enables evasive footwork. 442 480
- Mysterious Jade Hand — Hardens his hands to endure weapon clashes and block attacks. 442
- Mental strength — Considered exceptionally strong due to his transmigrated soul, cultivation method, and absorbed original-host soul. 62
- Technique comparison — Tang Ya’s use of the same Tang Sect techniques demonstrates that Tang San’s methods are not unique, though his complete inheritance and poisoned weapons initially make his attacks more lethal. 480
- Later comparison — Tang San recognizes that Su Yan’s Lingbo Weibu and other cultivation methods can counter the Mysterious Heaven Skill, while the Eight-Nine Arcane Art exceeds the scope of his inherited system. 1036
Hidden Weapons
Tang San crafts and employs hidden weapons, often coated in lethal poison. 71 480
- Fires concealed projectiles with high speed and precision, targeting vital points such as the eyes, throat, heart, knees, and groin. 71
- Uses the Dragon Whisker Needle and other poisoned weapons against Zhao Wuji. 71
- His hidden weapons are judged more lethal than Tang Ya’s because of their poison, allowing him to end fights quickly if they connect. 480
- Soul Tools challenge his traditional advantage: Dugu Yan’s twelve-barrel weapon unleashes repeated attacks comparable to a Soul Ancestor’s strikes and severely injures him. 315
- Attempts to use hidden weapons against Wang Dong’er after binding her during their Clear Sky Hammer duel, but the Demon Binding Rope restrains him before he can attack. 443
- The two-thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider and the External Soul Bone that Tang San was expected to obtain are diverted by Su Yan, leaving Tang San with only the thousand-year spider’s Soul Ring. 170 210
Slaughter God’s Domain
Tang San obtains the Slaughter God’s Domain by the time of his conflict with Qian Renxue’s forces. 407
- Fights alongside Dugu Bo and Yang Wudi against an overwhelmingly larger force. 407
- Later discussions criticize the destruction of the City of Slaughter, arguing that its loss contributed to the rise of Evil Soul Masters. 153 641
- Tang San maintains that destroying the City of Slaughter was justified despite accusations that it had served as a prison containing Evil Soul Masters. 640
Divine Power
As a Deity and later God King, Tang San can project divine sense into the mortal realm. 295 642
- Sends divine sense to protect Shrek Academy after Su Yan attacks it. 295
- Is criticized for intervening despite the stated principle that Deities should not interfere in mortal affairs. 295
- His authority is threatened when Life calls for a God Realm Council decision to strip him of his powers. 642
- The God Realm Committee subsequently strips him of his Asura God King authority and installs Rong Nianbing as the temporary holder of his powers and responsibilities. 653 654
- Can be suppressed when caught off guard; the Rakshasa God binds him with the Demon Binding Rope and prevents him from using divine power. 815
- Is accused of dividing his daughter Tang Xiaoqi’s Divine Soul into separate parts, including Wang Dong’er and Wang Qiu’er, to use them in plans involving Huo Yuhao. 422 489 649
- The Sacred Angel defeats him shortly after advancing to God King level, while retaining unused power. 863

- Asura Sword — Wielded as Tang God King. 619 632
- Divine Weapons of Sea God and Asura God — Leaves the God Realm with his group to search for them. 883
Relationships
- Xiao Wu — His desire to gain her recognition drives his challenge against Zhao Wuji; she later saves him by temporarily fusing with her main body to cripple Qian Renxue. 69 71 407 Xiao Wu also resents his insults toward Little Monkey and later joins Wang Dong’er in beating him after his attempt to use hidden weapons against her. 8 444 445
- Su Yan — Rival and recurring antagonist. Su Yan manipulates, humiliates, and repeatedly defeats or exposes Tang San, while Tang San remains determined to surpass him. 69 169 484 727
- Yu Xiaogang — Teacher and mentor. Yu Xiaogang consoles Tang San after his losses and reveals the significance of the Clear Sky Hammer. 230 317 Tang Ya later forces Yu Xiaogang to admit that he chose Tang San’s control-system path without knowing whether it was the optimal direction for Blue Silver Grass. 482
- Tang Ya — Fellow practitioner of Tang Sect techniques and later adversary. She confronts him over the Tang Sect inheritance and overwhelms him using the Slaughter God’s Domain and Eight Spider Bone. 480 481 She brutally interrogates Tang San and Yu Xiaogang, then challenges Tang San to a rematch at the Soul Master Competition two years later. 482 484
- Tang Hao — His father; Tang San’s connection to the Clear Sky Hammer is traced to the Clear Sky Sect through Tang Hao. 317 495 Tang Hao’s neglectful alcoholism after Ah Yin’s sacrifice heavily shapes Tang San’s childhood. 107 236
- Ah Yin — Tang Hao’s sacrificed partner and the original host’s biological mother. Tang San’s transmigrator identity devastates her when she learns that the soul in her son’s body came from another world. 62 107
- Grandfather Jack — Holy Soul Village elder who helps secure Tang San’s place at Nuoding Academy, despite Tang Hao’s neglect. 236 237 Su Yan criticizes Tang San for failing to repay Jack’s kindness and for driving the elder away after he criticized Tang Hao. 237
- Dugu Yan — Opponent whose fire-attribute second awakening destroys Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass and whose Soul Tool defeats him. 313 315
- Dugu Bo — A benefactor and later ally whose loyalty to Tang San is cited during God Realm disputes over whether Tang San adequately repaid those who aided him. 407 648 Their relationship originally develops after Dugu Bo captures Tang San, who survives by promising to cure the Jade Phosphorous Serpent poison. 374
- Qian Renxue — Attempts to recruit Tang San while aware of his identity, then fights him and his allies. 407
- Wang Dong’er — His future daughter, whose Divine Soul is split into multiple parts according to Su Yan’s revelations. 422 489 Wang Dong’er is one of the separated components of Tang Xiaoqi, alongside Wang Qiu’er and the retained Tang Xiaoqi portion. 422 496 She is also an opponent whose clone ability, Light Goddess Butterfly, and Clear Sky Hammer suppress Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass and defeat him in their duel. 442 443 445
