Background

Yu Xiaogang was born into the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan as the son of clan leader Yu Yuanzhen. His inherited Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Martial Soul mutated into Luo Sanpao, a pig-like Martial Soul with corporeal form and independent intelligence. He was later expelled from the clan. 30

Yu Xiaogang states that he has not seen his mother since childhood. During his escape from Martial Soul Hall, he mistakes the disguised Liu Erlong and her Holy Light Dragon Martial Soul for evidence that his mother had secretly protected him for years. 760

Yu Xiaogang was a Soul Grand Master whose Soul Power remained at level 29 for decades. At Nuoding Academy, Yu Xiaogang refused Su Yan’s request for mentorship, declaring that what he had failed to achieve in his own life could not be achieved by Su Yan either. Yu Xiaogang is rigid, prideful, and consistently convinced of his own importance despite his limited strength. He repeatedly relies on his past connection with Bibi Dong as leverage, believing that Martial Soul Hall will support him against Su Yan. 352 401 505

His treatment of Tang San alternates between genuine encouragement and self-serving ambition. He helps the depressed Tang San recover confidence by revealing the Clear Sky Hammer as his second Martial Soul, but his own desire to use Tang San to validate himself is openly discussed by Su Yan. 16 317

His reaction to Su Yan's advancement combines jealousy with a desire to obtain the same benefits. After seeing Su Yan surpass the supposed limitations of a mutated Martial Soul, he asks Flender to help him discover a means of breaking through level 30. Upon his return to Heaven Dou City, Flender's violence toward him reinforces his belief that personal relationships cannot be trusted. He regards Flender and Jie Ge as betrayers and vows that they will regret their actions. He continues dreaming of Jie Ge as a tender protector who rescues him from Scarface Bro and Shorty. When Scarface Bro tells him that Jie Ge died after sacrificing his money and health to save him, Yu Xiaogang accepts that the apparent betrayal was a lie and is overwhelmed by grief and memories of their planned life together. 1163

His jealousy also manifests as cruelty toward Luo Sanpao. He kicks his Martial Soul, insists that he can treat it however he wishes, and claims that exchanging Luo Sanpao for Little Monkey would make him the genius instead of Su Yan. After Luo Sanpao gains independence, Yu Xiaogang initially focuses on the prospect of becoming stronger rather than listening to its rejection. Martial Soul

Yu Xiaogang's original Martial Soul is Luo Sanpao, a mutated form of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon that resembles a pig and possesses independent intelligence. Yu Xiaogang regards the mutation as malignant, though Su Yan argues that its independent corporeal form could have represented an opportunity for further evolution. 30

After Su Yan's graduation-match victory, Yu Xiaogang hypothesizes that Su Yan's Martial Soul underwent another mutation. He subsequently beats Luo Sanpao while attempting to make it reveal how to undergo a second mutation, without obtaining an answer. 41

Little Monkey later states that Luo Sanpao could have grown into a Golden Sacred Dragon but was held back by Yu Xiaogang's neglect. Su Yan identifies Luo Sanpao as a genuine Golden Sacred Dragon whose initial form resulted from Yu Xiaogang's inability to withstand such a powerful Martial Soul. He argues that Luo Sanpao's ability to eat, digest food, and absorb energy demonstrates both its potential for growth and its need for nourishment. 1185 1187

Yu Xiaogang insists that Martial Souls do not need to eat, despite feeding Luo Sanpao radishes to strengthen its farting ability. Yu Xiaogang mentors Tang San at Nuoding Academy and later Shrek Academy. He encourages Tang San to defeat Su Yan, dismisses Su Yan as a defective Soul Master, and treats Tang San’s advancement as proof of his own theories. 9 29

During the Nuoding graduation competition, Su Yan reveals level 38 Soul Power, directly contradicting Yu Xiaogang's assertion that his mutated Martial Soul cannot surpass level 30. Yu Xiaogang falls to the ground in shock and reacts with humiliation and jealousy. After Tang San is sent flying, he pursues the injured boy in tears, fearing both for his disciple and for Tang Hao's reaction if Tang San dies. 32 33 34

After Dugu Yan's evolved Martial Soul counters Tang San's Blue Silver Grass, Yu Xiaogang angrily defends his disciple but is beaten by Xiao Wu. Tang San begs Xiao Wu not to injure his teacher, while the other Shrek students decline to intervene. 313 314

After Tang San’s defeats by Su Yan and Dugu Yan’s group, Yu Xiaogang reveals Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer and urges him not to lose faith in becoming strong. 317

Shrek Academy Dispute

At Shrek Academy, Yu Xiaogang attempts to establish authority over Su Yan and his companions by demanding an apology for their disrespect. When they refuse, he threatens to expel them, only for Su Yan’s group to state that they had already intended to leave the academy. 265 266

The confrontation begins when Yu Xiaogang orders Su Yan to leave, accusing him of laziness and indiscipline despite Su Yan's courteous greeting. Su Yan slaps him and challenges his right to speak for the academy without identifying his position. The encounter is observed through the group chat's newly discovered livestream function. 263 264

Yu Xiaogang's willingness to offer another chance is partly motivated by his continuing desire to learn how Su Yan overcame the level-30 bottleneck. 266

Yu Xiaogang later watches Tang San lose to Zhu Zhuqing in the proposed contest between Shrek Academy and Su Yan’s new academy. Unable to understand Zhu Zhuqing’s self-created shadow skill, he angrily denounces it before conceding that Tang San has completely lost. 268 269

Further abilities displayed by Su Yan's companions continue to contradict his expectations. He cannot explain Ning Rongrong's enhanced Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda abilities and insists that Nine Heart Begonia cannot possess skills other than healing. 272 273

At the conclusion of the academy contest, Su Yan's mockery causes Yu Xiaogang to faint from anger. Flender acknowledges Shrek's remaining eighty-thousand-Gold-Soul-Coin debt with an IOU before Su Yan's group leaves. 277

During a later confrontation, Yu Xiaogang invokes his Pope's Token as protection for himself and Tang San. Dugu Yan exploits the distinction between the token's bearer and his companions, and the two repeatedly pass it between them while the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger and Scarlet King bite whichever man is not holding it. Bibi Dong herself orders the beasts to attack Yu Xiaogang after he again threatens others in her name. 351 352

Conflict with Liu Erlong

Yu Xiaogang’s past relationship with Liu Erlong is exposed as a source of resentment and doubt. Liu Erlong questions whether he knowingly concealed the truth of their familial connection and later rejects his attempt to establish a “spiritual” relationship. 39 397

Su Yan recounts that Yu Xiaogang fled on their wedding day after Yu Luomian revealed that they were cousins, leaving Liu Erlong to face the humiliation and grief. Group members question whether his knowledge of inherited Martial Souls and mutations made genuine ignorance plausible, but their proposed explanations of his intentions remain accusations and speculation rather than an established confession. 39 533 534

Before his reunion with Liu Erlong, Ling Yuan, Chrysanthemum Douluo, and Ghost Douluo stage village scandals involving declarations of “spiritual love” and proposed castration. These incidents are designed to influence Yu Xiaogang into treating his eventual mutilation as a justification for pursuing Liu Erlong through a supposedly nonphysical relationship. He becomes visibly tense while watching the spectacle. 312

Bibi Dong's earlier instructions explicitly frame his castration and subsequent pursuit of “spiritual love” as a way to punish him while also disgusting Liu Erlong. 186

Martial Soul Hall Incident

After being forcibly castrated, Yu Xiaogang wrongly attributes the act to Su Yan and resolves to seek Bibi Dong’s protection in Martial Soul City. 369 370

The attack is discovered at Shrek Academy: his genitals have been removed, but the bleeding has been stopped and his wounds bandaged. The teachers judge it to be a carefully planned procedure involving drugs and anesthetics. Although Tang San immediately suspects Su Yan, the other students caution that there is no proof. Yu Xiaogang invokes his Pope's Token and honorary-elder status while demanding Bibi Dong's intervention. 325

Before leaving Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Zhao Wuji and Dai Mubai warn Yu Xiaogang and Flender that provoking Su Yan's powerful allies could endanger Tang San. Zhao Wuji specifically cautions them against spreading information about the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts around Su Yan. Yu Xiaogang dismisses the warnings and insists that his Martial Soul Hall connections are sufficient to eliminate Su Yan. 505

He arrives at Martial Soul Hall expecting to meet Bibi Dong, mistakes Hu Liena for her, requests the cultivation method for Twin Martial Souls, and guarantees that Tang San will never oppose Martial Soul Hall. Hu Liena rejects him and has him punished. 526 527

Yu Xiaogang and Flender are subsequently forced into a confession game in which refusal to reveal their past misdeeds would result in the other being stabbed. Yu Xiaogang initially insists that he has done nothing shameful. 528

Liu Erlong later reveals that Bibi Dong ordered his castration, destroying his belief that Bibi Dong remained his last dependable connection. 534

She identifies Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo as the perpetrators and tells him that Bibi Dong is now with Su Yan. The physical punishment and revelations cause Yu Xiaogang to faint, while Flender becomes disillusioned with him. 534

Heavenly Prison

After recovering from his injuries, Yu Xiaogang is transferred to Heavenly Prison. There, he meets Jie Ge, who protects him from other prisoners and suffers punishment for doing so. 553 561

Jie Ge introduces himself as Xiong Jie and professes admiration for Yu Xiaogang's theories and famous maxim. Yu Xiaogang initially regards meeting such a devoted admirer in prison as a fortunate turn of events. 555

After Jie Ge draws him into a fight against their cellmates, the guards place the two in solitary confinement. Jie Ge then knocks Yu Xiaogang down and tears his shirt while Yu Xiaogang begs him to stop; the observers leave and hear his cry of pain. Subsequent assaults by Scarface Bro and Shorty cause Yu Xiaogang to long for Jie Ge's comparatively gentle treatment. 578 605

Yu Xiaogang is assaulted and nearly brainwashed by Scarface Bro, but resists. Jie Ge subsequently breaks into the prison, frees him, and attempts to kill Scarface Bro; Yu Xiaogang stops Jie Ge so they can escape instead. 607 757

Liu Erlong holds off Martial Soul Hall’s pursuers long enough for Yu Xiaogang and Jie Ge to escape Spirit City. Yu Xiaogang continues to believe that the disguised Liu Erlong may have been his mother. 761

When Golden Crocodile Douluo and Qian Daoliu object to the continuing treatment of Yu Xiaogang, Chrysanthemum Douluo refuses to let Golden Crocodile Douluo kill him. He invokes Su Yan's prohibition against anyone touching Yu Xiaogang and the promised opportunity to become a god, while Hu Liena subsequently relays Bibi Dong's order protecting Chrysanthemum Douluo from interference. 764

By Chapter 850, Yu Xiaogang is working as a prostitute to cover Jie Ge’s medical expenses and save money for their escape from Spirit City. As wanted fugitives without money, he and Jie Ge need enough funds to obtain high-level Soul Beast mounts and flee the city. 852

While he works to support Jie Ge, Liu Erlong and the Rakshasa God discuss having Jie Ge take the accumulated money and abandon him as a further punishment. 850

At Spring Sun Pavilion, the madam markets Yu Xiaogang as the top courtesan Rose and promotes his services to three noble clients through his reputation as Master. He conducts “Rose's Lesson,” using classroom props and a small whip while teaching Martial Soul Mimicry Theory. Su Yan and Chrysanthemum Douluo observe from hiding after Jie Ge leaves him at the establishment. 1061

Jie Ge later leaves Spirit City, apparently sells Yu Xiaogang's possessions, and takes the nearly ten thousand Gold Soul Coins they had accumulated. Yu Xiaogang is left alone and financially ruined, collapsing in the rain upon learning of the apparent betrayal. Scarface Bro later gives him a contradictory account, claiming that the money was spent on his rescue rather than taken for Jie Ge's own benefit. 1063 1163

After Martial Soul Hall becomes aware of his location, a madam from the establishment gives Yu Xiaogang an escape token and sends him through Spirit City's north gate, where a city-guard captain is expected to help him flee. Chrysanthemum Douluo confirms that Martial Soul Hall intends to release Yu Xiaogang rather than confine him further, regarding freedom and continued hardship as part of his punishment. 1063

By Chapter 950, Tang San has learned only that Martial Soul Hall previously captured Yu Xiaogang and that he was later rescued; Yu Xiaogang's whereabouts remain unknown to his former disciple. 952

After several days of exhausting travel, Yu Xiaogang returns to Heaven Dou City and seeks Tang San at Heaven Dou Royal Academy. Tang San has been living comfortably there, cultivating and researching Hidden Weapons while receiving better material support and instruction than he had at Shrek. The separation also gives Luo Sanpao fourteen and a half levels of Soul Power, leaving Yu Xiaogang with the other half and the farting Soul Skill. The Ignition Wager

Su Yan offers a seventy-thousand-year leg Soul Bone if his claim that Yu Xiaogang's farting Soul Skill can ignite proves false. Tang San encourages his teacher to accept, and Su Yan instructs Tang San to hold a lit torch while Yu Xiaogang aims the skill toward it. 1202

After the original incantation produces no result, Su Yan provides a new “Xiao Gang Cannon” incantation. The released gas ignites before reaching the torch, creating flames across dozens of meters, engulfing Tang San, and setting Yu Xiaogang himself alight. 1202
