Gu Xi entered Ming Detang before Xue Nianbing and was placed at the academy through the Sun Moon Royal Family. Jing Hongchen identifies her Bright Phoenix Martial Soul as rare and notes that she is likely connected to Xu Tianran's faction. Xue Nianbing quickly suspects that “Gu Xi” is an assumed identity and considers the possibility that she is Death Douluo Ye Xishui. 347 350
