Background / History

Ye Jianbing originally lived in another world, where he purchased a jade pendant at an antique market. The pendant preceded his transmigratory rebirth: his body regressed into that of an infant before he arrived on the Douluo Continent. He was discovered in the Far North amid ice-blue radiance, and the Snow Empress and Ice Empress chose to raise him after sensing pure Extreme Ice within him. They named him Xue Nianbing. 1

At age six, he awakened Innate Full Soul Power and two Extreme Ice weapon martial souls: the Frosty Ice Spear and Proud Snow Cold Bow. The Ice and Snow Empresses personally trained him, recognizing that the spear resembled the Ice Empress’s Extreme Ice while the bow resembled the Snow Empress’s ice-and-snow power. 2 3

He endured five years of harsh Far North training against increasingly dangerous Soul Beasts. By the end of this period, he could defeat thousand-year Soul Beasts and possessed combat ability far beyond his rank. 6 7 8

Before departing for the human world, he was appointed Young Master of the Far North and received the Ice Snow Crown. The crown identifies him to the Far North’s Soul Beasts, allows him to command them according to his strength, and contains a protective Ice Snow Guardian that can delay even a Super Douluo while alerting the Snow Empress. 10

He later enrolled in Shrek Academy as an exceptional Soul Elder with three near-ten-thousand-year Soul Rings. His Extreme Ice, Twin Martial Souls, and unusually pure Dragon Race aura drew the attention of Mu En and Yan Shaozhe. 27 29

During his later development, Ilex revealed that Ye Jianbing was not wholly human and that his true form was related to an Ice Dragon. The Ice Yi Dragon Pearl subsequently identified this origin as the ancient divine dragon Ice Yi. 116 392
