Background

Mu Zibai is the illegitimate son of Mu Hedao and a maidservant. Because of his birth, he held virtually no standing in the Mu family and was denied opportunities to interact with nobles. His mother later died and was buried on Kui Mountain, her hometown. 1 14

A transmigrator, Mu Zibai possesses a System Shop that trades points for items, techniques, pills, and knowledge. Initially unable to earn points due to his low status, he sees his arranged marriage to the comatose Wenren Lingmeng as a chance to access noble-status contacts and activate the System’s advantages. 1

He marries into Wenren Manor as Wenren Lingmeng’s husband and begins caring for her at her bedside. Though his early motive is to farm points through contact, his steady care, encouragement, storytelling, and pursuit of a cure gradually earn the trust of Lingmeng, Xiao E, and the Wenren family. 4 6 12 13

Following Lingmeng’s awakening and the South Sea conflict, an imperial edict recognizes Mu Zibai as Wenren Lingmeng’s “rightful and proper” prince consort and assigns him to the Imperial College. Personality

Mu Zibai is pragmatic and highly motivated by the System’s point economy. He carefully evaluates people by the points their status can yield, conceals his cultivation, and occasionally entertains ruthless internal thoughts when pursuing greater efficiency. 1 16 23 25

Despite this self-interest, he is attentive and persistent in caring for Wenren Lingmeng. He feeds her, stays through the night, tells her stories, seeks treatment, and wrestles with whether awakening her would remove his main source of points. He is sarcastic, teasing, and quick-witted, particularly with Wenren Qingyi and Xiao E. In dangerous situations, he remains observant and tactical, though he privately admits fear when confronting overwhelmingly powerful opponents. 20 26 29 46

Although he prefers to lie low and avoid needless responsibility, Mu Zibai will place himself in danger to protect his companions.
