Background / History
Qingyi returns to Wenren Manor after traveling with her elder brother Wenren Long Hong in search of a renowned physician for Wenren Lingmeng. Learning that her unconscious sister has married Mu Zibai, she immediately assumes he has bullied Lingmeng and attempts to stop him from touching her. 15 16
Her objections stem from her attachment to Lingmeng and difficulty accepting the household’s changed dynamics. She had previously shared a bed with her sister and feels that both Lingmeng and Xiao E have been “taken” from her by Mu Zibai. 20
She accompanies the family to Tianling Temple in the South Sea to seek treatment for Lingmeng. There, she deceives Mu Zibai into entering a secluded cabin, intending to frighten him with a tamed wild wolf. The plan fails when Mu reveals his Mystic Armor Realm strength, defeats the wolf, and leaves the two trapped in the cabin’s formation overnight. 25 26 27
After escaping, Qingyi is endangered by two Dragon People scouting near Tianling Temple. Mu Zibai shields her and orders her to flee for help while he delays the attackers. The incident softens her hostility: she later thanks him and admits that she would have died without his intervention. 28 34
When Lingmeng awakens, Qingyi joyfully reunites with her, crying as she clings to her sister. She later travels with Lingmeng and Mu Zibai and befriends Jiang Keyin. 42 49 50
During the South Sea crisis, Qingyi disappears while shopping alongside the guards assigned to her. Drag marks lead Mu Zibai and Jiang Yuyu to investigate her disappearance, and Qingyi is subsequently discovered as Zhuge Yu’s captive at Xu Manor. She is unable to help when Mu Zibai and Xiao E confront Zhuge Yu, but later returns safely to her family and recounts the frightening experience to Lingmeng. 54 60 61 66 68
While visiting Nantai Taoist Temple, Qingyi enters Mu Zibai and Lingmeng’s room without permission and consumes a pill she mistakes for elixir candy. The Growth Pill causes her to faint and temporarily develop into her future adult appearance. After reverting to normal, Mu Zibai discovers that the pill has reopened her previously fused bones and acupoints, giving her the potential to cultivate. 114 115 118
Appearance
Qingyi is a young girl who dresses lavishly as befitting a Wenren Manor young lady. On her first appearance, she wears a purple dress and approaches Mu Zibai with an angry, hurried stride. 15
- Often stands with her hands on her hips when angry or trying to appear imposing. 15 34
- Has a notably expressive face; her schemes and emotions are easy for Mu Zibai to read. 21 26
- Is described as having grown taller during the South Sea journey. 42
- The Growth Pill temporarily transforms her into the appearance she will have as a grown young woman, causing her usual clothes to become too small and forcing her to wear a Daoist robe. 115 116
- She reverts to her normal youthful appearance by the time Mu Xue finds her at the Daoist temple. 118
Personality
Qingyi is spoiled, willful, and impulsive. Her family acknowledges that she was overindulged while growing up, and she tends to assume that admitting fault should immediately earn forgiveness. 16 27 She is fiercely protective of Lingmeng, initially treating Mu Zibai as an intruder solely because he married her sister. 16
She enjoys mischief but is poor at concealing it. Her attempts to provoke Mu Zibai—pushing him toward a lake, luring him to the cabin, and using a deliberately affected “sweet” voice—are obvious enough that he routinely anticipates them. 21 25 26
Beneath her bravado, Qingyi is simple-hearted and deeply loyal to Lingmeng. When asked whether she would risk losing everything for a chance to wake her sister, she answers that Lingmeng is the most important person in her life and that she would save her. 35 Her experience in the South Sea gradually makes her more appreciative of Mu Zibai, though she continues to bicker with him. 34 36
Qingyi remains possessive of Lingmeng’s attention even after accepting Mu Zibai as her brother-in-law. After her abduction, she uses her fear and distress to persuade Lingmeng to stay with her overnight. 49 68 Her curiosity and lack of caution are also demonstrated when she eats an unfamiliar pill because it smells like candy. 113 114
Although she briefly becomes interested in cultivation after seeing her siblings’ achievements, Qingyi is intimidated by its hardships and compares herself unfavorably to them. 117 Her sudden physical transformation does little to change her childish habits, prompting Lingmeng to take a more active role in teaching her restraint and propriety. 116
Abilities & Skills
Basic Martial Arts
Qingyi has learned martial-arts forms but lacks practical skill or combat experience.
- Her punches and kicks are described as proper in form but clumsy and easy for Mu Zibai to evade. 20
- She is unable to contend with Mu Zibai after he reveals his Mystic Armor Realm cultivation. 26
Wolf Handling
Qingyi possesses a token used to command a chained, tamed wild wolf.
- She uses it to order the wolf to attack Mu Zibai in the cabin as part of a scare tactic. 26
- The wolf is defeated before it can meaningfully threaten him. 26
Cultivation Potential
After consuming Mu Zibai’s Growth Pill, Qingyi undergoes a second physical development that alters her aptitude.
- Her previously fused bones reopen, and her bones and acupoints return to a state suitable for beginning cultivation. 118
- Mu Zibai judges that she now possesses the beginnings of considerable talent and could achieve something if she starts cultivating. 118
- Qingyi has expressed interest in learning to cultivate, though she is wary of the effort it requires. 117
Relationships
- Wenren Lingmeng — Elder sister. Qingyi is intensely attached to Lingmeng, opposes her marriage at first, and is overjoyed when she awakens. Lingmeng later comforts Qingyi after her abduction and guides her through the consequences of the Growth Pill. 16 20 42 68 115 116
- Mu Zibai — Brother-in-law. Their relationship begins in open hostility and mutual teasing; after he protects her from Dragon People, she becomes grateful and increasingly willing to listen to his stories. Mu Zibai later examines the effects of the Growth Pill on her and recognizes her newfound cultivation potential. 16 28 34 36 115 118
- Wenren Long Hong — Elder brother. He accompanies Qingyi while seeking physicians for Lingmeng and intervenes when she confronts Mu Zibai. 16
- Mu Xue — Mother. Qingyi fears Mu Xue’s disapproval after damaging her clothes and tries to conceal the circumstances surrounding her temporary transformation. 115 118
- Xiao E — Lingmeng’s personal maid. Qingyi is upset when Xiao E begins supporting Mu Zibai, but later seeks her out to hear Dream of the Red Chamber. 20 22
- Jiang Keyin — Friend of similar age. The two quickly find common interests and later arrange to share a room. They continue exploring the Capital City and visiting friends together. 49 50 77 91
- Mu Yurou — Childhood friend and Mu Zibai’s younger sister. Qingyi takes the opportunity to renew their friendship after relations between the Mu and Wenren families improve. 91
Story Role / Major Arcs
Opposition to Lingmeng’s Marriage
Qingyi returns to Wenren Manor and confronts Mu Zibai, accusing him of bullying Lingmeng simply because he married her while she was unconscious. Her resentment reflects her fear that Lingmeng’s illness and marriage have changed their family bond. 15 16 20
Household Mischief
She repeatedly tries to inconvenience or embarrass Mu Zibai, including attempting to push him into a lake. These schemes consistently backfire, reinforcing her role as an immature but persistent source of trouble within the manor. 19 21
Tianling Temple Incident
Qingyi takes part in the journey to the South Sea. Her attempt to scare Mu Zibai with a wolf traps them in a formation, but their forced overnight stay changes their rapport: he tells her Dream of the Red Chamber, keeps her warm, and helps her escape. 22 26 28
Dragon People Encounter

Lingmeng’s Awakening
Qingyi is among the first family members to see Lingmeng awake at Tianling Temple. Her emotional reunion confirms that her antagonism toward Mu Zibai was rooted in devotion to her sister rather than malice. 42 43
Abduction at Qi King’s Residence
While visiting the South Sea, Qingyi vanishes during a shopping trip along with her guards. Mu Zibai and Jiang Yuyu trace evidence of her abduction to Xu Manor, where Zhuge Yu holds her captive. Qingyi can only watch as Mu Zibai and Xiao E are overpowered, and her ordeal leaves her frightened and especially eager for Lingmeng’s companionship after she returns. 54 60 61 68
Growth Pill Incident
At Nantai Taoist Temple, Qingyi mistakes Mu Zibai’s Growth Pill for elixir candy and eats it without permission. The pill temporarily ages her body into its future adult form, alarming both Lingmeng and Mu Zibai and forcing her to confront unfamiliar expectations of maturity. 114 115 116
Qingyi ultimately reverts to normal, but the pill’s effects reopen her cultivation potential. The incident establishes both her recklessness around tempting food and the possibility that she may begin cultivating in the future. 117 118
