Background / History
The Dragon Race was one of the three dominant Innate Races of the early Primordial World, alongside the Phoenix and Qilin Races. It was regarded as exceptionally powerful, numerous, and domineering, with its members controlling the Four Seas and treating other races as inferior. 10 29 47
Under Ancestral Dragon, the race pursued explosive population growth. Its numbers reached one hundred million early in its development, earning its leader rewards from the Dragon Clan’s Development System; by the later Dragon-Phoenix-Qilin Calamity, the clan fielded trillions of dragons. 11 45
Although Ancestral Dragon initially sought to avoid the Dragon-Han Tribulation, he ordered the race to remain within the Four Seas and swore that it would not contend with the Phoenix or Qilin Races unless attacked first. This oath forced the two rival races to withdraw their armies, creating a brief three-race peace. 35 37
The peace intensified the crisis rather than resolving it. The Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Races rapidly multiplied and consumed the world’s Spiritual Qi and the essences of the Sun and Moon, contributing to the Primordial World’s overpopulation and instability. 38 44
After Hongjun became a Saint and offered the three races a choice of futures, the Dragon Race rejected his arrangements. Encouraged by Ancestral Dragon, it assembled the Million Golden Dragons Heaven-Felling Array and declared war on Heaven. 40 41 45 47
Hongjun destroyed Ancestral Dragon with one palm strike. The backlash and the strike itself annihilated the Dragon Race’s Golden Immortal-and-above elites; surviving dragons were confined to the Four Seas and placed under a cultivation restriction. 48
Traits and Society
- The Dragon Race possesses a strict bloodline hierarchy: dragons of lower bloodline rank cannot resist dragons with superior bloodlines. 34
- Its members are naturally arrogant and prone to looking down on other races. 29
- The race was exceptionally fertile and expanded more rapidly than the Phoenix and Qilin Races. 11 38 41
- Its greatest military advantage lies in the sea, where its strength exceeds what it can display outside the Four Seas. 41
- Before its downfall, the race monopolized Four Seas resources, hunted other sea creatures, and was feared by the myriad races for abduction, violence, and territorial oppression. 42 47
Abilities & Skills
Dragon Bloodline and Dragon Energy
Dragon Clan members possess dragon energy and an innate dominance tied to their bloodlines. Ancestral Dragon’s presence alone compels lesser dragons in the East Sea Dragon Court to submit. 11 34
- Lower-bloodline dragons are unable to resist higher-bloodline dragons. 34
- The race’s strongest combat environment is the sea. 41
- Dragon Race experts were numerous enough that other Innate Gods and Demons feared direct confrontation with the Innate Three Races. 42
Million Golden Dragons Heaven-Felling Array
The Dragon Race’s ultimate military formation was created by Ancestral Dragon to challenge a Saint and “attack Heaven.” 45
- Uses Ancestral Dragon and the Chaos Supreme Treasure River of Destiny as foundations. 45
- Incorporates millions of Golden Dragons, countless Innate Spiritual Treasures, four Innate Supreme Treasures, and a Chaos Spiritual Treasure controlled by Candle Dragon. 45
- Draws on the power of trillions of Dragon Race cultivators and greatly amplifies Ancestral Dragon’s Dragon Manifestation. 45 46
- Despite its scale, Hongjun judged its construction inferior to the later Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation; it failed to overcome a Saint. 46 47
Four Seas Guardianship
The Dragon Race assumed the duty of guarding the Four Seas after Ancestral Dragon swore an oath to the Heavenly Dao. 35 37
- The oath prohibited the race from proactively contending with the Phoenix and Qilin Races unless they attacked first. 37
- The Heavenly Dao granted merit for its guardianship of the Four Seas. 36 37
- After the race’s defeat, Hongjun decreed that dragons could regain access to Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal only through sufficient merit, including by ensuring timely rains and favorable winds. 48
Key Members
- Ancestral Dragon / Zu Long — Dragon Race patriarch and Dragon Emperor; a transmigrator whose ambition, system rewards, and defiance of Heaven led the race into catastrophe. Killed by Hongjun. 11 41 48
- Candle Dragon / Zhu Long — Ancestral Dragon’s younger brother; helped lead the clan and controlled the secondary eye of the Million Golden Dragons Heaven-Felling Array. 30 45
- Dragon Maidens — Female dragons used by Ancestral Dragon in his attempt to recruit Shi Chen as an ally. 30 34
Relationships
- Phoenix Race — Rival Innate Race. The Dragon Race’s oath not to contend with it temporarily prevented open war, though both sides remained suspicious. 35 37
- Qilin Race — Rival Innate Race and frequent target of Dragon Race aggression; it briefly allied with the Phoenix Race to counter Dragon dominance. 36 46
- Hongjun — Opposing Saint who warned the race about its harm to the Primordial World, then destroyed its elite forces after it attacked Heaven. 44 47 48
- Heavenly Dao — Recognized the Dragon Race’s Four Seas guardianship with merit, but later authorized Hongjun to destroy the clan after its rebellion. 36 46 48
- Myriad Races — Subjects and victims of Dragon Race oppression; their collective resentment was cited as a cause of the race’s destruction. 42 47

Four Seas Withdrawal
Seeking to survive the coming tribulation, Ancestral Dragon orders the clan not to leave the Four Seas and formally swears not to contend with the Phoenix and Qilin Races unless provoked. 35 37
Overpopulation Crisis
The Dragon Race’s unchecked reproduction and cultivation contribute to the depletion of Spiritual Qi and solar-lunar essence, endangering the stability of the Primordial World. 38 44
Defiance of Heaven
Refusing Hongjun’s arrangements for the Innate Three Races, the Dragon Race rallies behind Ancestral Dragon and forms the Million Golden Dragons Heaven-Felling Array to attack Heaven. 41 45 47

Trivia
- The Dragon Race’s Development System rewarded Ancestral Dragon according to the clan’s population growth. 11 48
- Its elite formation possessed enormous manpower and treasure investment, yet Hongjun considered it poorly designed compared with later grand formations. 45 46
- Following the clan’s suppression, only dragons below the Golden Immortal realm remained in the Primordial World. 49
