Background

The Witch Clan was born from the Blood Pool behind Pangu Hall. After a heartbeat resounded from the hall, twelve balls of essence blood emerged from the pool and became the Twelve Ancestral Witches. The clan's origin was later tied to Pangu Divine Heart blood: one remaining fragment of the heart hung within Pangu Hall, with its blood continuously forming the Blood Pool. 39 48

The Ancestral Witches produced countless descendants from the Blood Pool and founded their clan near Buzhou Mountain. Their descendants inherited a warlike temperament and powerful bodies; they regarded themselves as Pangu's orthodox lineage, revered only Pangu Father God, and rejected the Primordial Spirit Dao. Their emergence caused Sha Qi to rise throughout the Primordial World and provoked hostility from the Three Pure Ones, who also claimed Pangu's orthodox legacy. 39

Rapid growth created internal disorder. The clan reached a population of millions, but its warlike members were difficult for the Twelve Ancestral Witches to govern while they also cultivated. Zhu Jiuyin's time-based deduction indicated that an eastern Primordial Spirit cultivator could help resolve the crisis, prompting Dijiang to receive East King Duke and Queen Mother of the West at Pangu Hall. 46 47

After East King Duke's visit, the Witch Clan replaced its system of joint rule with twelve named tribes, each overseen by its corresponding Ancestral Witch. The new rank of Great Witch was established beneath the Ancestral Witches to manage tribal affairs; prominent Great Witches included Xing Tian, Jiu Feng, Kuafu, Hou Yi, and Xiang Liu. The reform ended much of the internal chaos and supported the clan's long-term prosperity. 49 59

Appearance

The original Twelve Ancestral Witches emerged as colossal, hundred-foot beings with distinct appearances and overwhelming Sha Qi. After roughly a thousand years, they manifested Innate Dao Bodies; their descendants likewise emphasized physical cultivation over Primordial Spirit methods. 39

  • Ancestral Witches were often described wearing animal-skin robes. 46 60
  • Their Dao bodies naturally contained and manifested their respective laws. 45 46
  • They lacked Primordial Spirits despite their extraordinary physical strength. 39 46
  • In battle, Ancestral Witches could reveal enormous true forms tens of thousands of feet tall. 93

Personality

The Witch Clan was inherently proud, pugnacious, and fiercely protective of its bloodline. Its members saw themselves as Pangu's descendants and regarded other races—particularly the Demon Race—as intruders upon Pangu's world. 39 92 115

Their reverence for Pangu shaped their defiance toward Heaven and the Heavenly Dao. Dijiang openly rejected Hongjun's demand for submission, declaring that the clan bowed neither to Heaven nor Earth. 95

The clan was not without restraint or leadership. Dijiang sought order through tribal reform, Zhu Jiuyin provided strategic foresight, and Houtu repeatedly displayed compassion and caution unlike many of her more aggressive siblings. 46 49 65

Abilities & Skills

Pangu Bloodline and Law-Bearing Dao Bodies

The Witch Clan's strength derived from Pangu's essence blood. Their bodies naturally carried laws, allowing them to comprehend and wield those laws despite possessing no Primordial Spirits. 39 45

  • Their physical bodies were their primary means of cultivation and combat.
  • An Ancestral Witch could contend with ordinary late-stage Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal cultivators through physical strength and law mastery alone. 45
  • The clan's inheritance initially only supported cultivation up to the Grand Unity level, but Pangu Hall later granted further methods. 65
  • The Witch-Slaying Sword, refined from human flesh and blood, specifically restrained Witch Clan bodies. 147

Ancestral Witch True Forms

Ancestral Witches could reveal their true forms to magnify their physical and law-based combat power.

  • Zhu Rong's true form embodied his control over fire and was capable of contesting East King Duke in close-quarters combat. 45
  • The twelve Ancestral Witches assumed true forms tens of thousands of feet tall when forming their greatest array. 93
  • The true forms were vulnerable to the Witch-Slaying Sword's blood-based restraint. Gou Mang's true form was shattered by its sword light. 147

Twelve Capital Gods and Demons Array

The Witch Clan's supreme inherited killing formation required all twelve Ancestral Witches to combine their true bodies and Sha Qi.

  • The formation connected the twelve through Sha Qi and armed them with giant blades. 93
  • It possessed killing power and Sha Qi comparable to the Demon Race's Myriad Stars Array, though it did not primarily amplify the users' power. 93
  • It could slaughter Demon Race forces even more rapidly than the Myriad Stars Array. 93
  • The array failed when Gou Mang was killed, leaving it incomplete. 147
  • After Houtu's departure, Hou Yi filled the Earth Ancestral Witch position, but the restored formation could no longer summon Pangu's True Body. 130 146

Pangu True Body

At its peak, the Twelve Capital Gods and Demons Array could use the Ancestral Witches' heart blood to summon Pangu's True Body.

  • Pangu's True Body easily broke the Demon Race's Myriad Stars Array and inflicted severe casualties. 94
  • Summoning it consumed the Ancestral Witches' vital essence and caused serious backlash. 95
  • Heavenly Dao Hongjun personally intervened to halt it. 94 95

Blood Pool Lineage

The Blood Pool of Pangu Hall served as the source of the clan's original descendants.

  • The Twelve Ancestral Witches created countless descendants from the pool through their spells. 39
  • Houtu's preserved essence blood was later refined by Hou Yi, allowing him to become the replacement Earth Ancestral Witch. 126 130

Yin Sha Great Array

During the Human Race era, Great Witches employed an offshoot of the Twelve Capital Gods and Demons Array.

  • Spirit banners allowed the Witch Clan to deploy multiple Yin Sha Great Arrays. 174
  • The formations substantially increased the military strength of Chi You's Jiuli forces. 174

Relationships

  • Pangu — Creator and sole object of the clan's reverence; the Witches considered themselves his orthodox descendants. 39 95
  • Twelve Ancestral Witches — Founders, leaders, and embodiments of the clan's principal laws; each later governed one of the twelve tribes. 39 49
  • East King Duke / Yin-Yang Dao Venerable — Ally and benefactor. He aided the clan's early reform, protected it from Heavenly Dao Hongjun, healed the injured Ancestral Witches, and assisted Houtu's path to sainthood. 49 95 96 130
  • Demon Race / Heavenly Court — Principal enemy in the Witch-Demon conflict; their rivalry culminated in mutual destruction. 79 92 146 147
  • Three Pure Ones — Rivals in the claim to Pangu's orthodox legacy; the Three Pure Ones were born from Pangu's Primordial Spirit, while the Witches came from his essence blood. 39 93
  • Heavenly Dao Hongjun — Opposed the clan's attempt to destroy the Heavenly Court and imposed a period of peace between Witches and Demons. 95 96
  • Houtu / Pingxin — Former Earth Ancestral Witch whose sacrifice created Reincarnation. As Saint Pingxin, she preserved and reincorporated surviving Witches into the Underworld. 126 150
  • Human Race — Later intermarriage produced Witch-Humans. Great Witches subsequently supported the Witch-Human Chi You and the Jiuli Clan. 171 174

  • Great Witches joined the Jiuli forces against Xuanyuan, repeatedly overpowering the Human Race and Heavenly Origin Sect's early forces. 174
