Background / History
Karl operated from Death Song Academy in the Styx Galaxy, where he used the Great Clock to monitor cosmic events and conducted void-related experiments. The Styx Galaxy and its Beast Body civilizations chiefly served as his experimental ground rather than a realm he felt responsible for protecting 42 44.
Before the Human Federation's arrival, Karl had dispatched the Taotie Fleet toward Earth and supported Morgana's rebuilding of the Demon Legion. His original intent was to remove Keisha and the Order of Justice before his experiments created disturbances that might attract Angel intervention 5 10 44.
The Federation's destruction of the Taotie Fleet, Demon Legion, Angel Civilization, and Lieyang Civilization made Karl cautious. He shut down the Great Worm Bridge Station linked to Pluto, ignored the Angels' request for Styx support, and avoided directly investigating the Human Federation 42.
Karl initially considered the Human Federation a possible example of the “Ultimate Void,” but rejected the theory after observing its territorial expansion. He concluded that a civilization pursuing territory remained constrained by the known universe's framework 43.
With the Angels gone, Karl considered a major obstacle to his research removed. Having abandoned his relationships, teacher, original body, and past in pursuit of void knowledge, he proceeded with his ultimate experiment: opening a gate to the Void World 44.
Appearance
Karl is depicted as a grave scholar seated within Death Song Academy.
- Wears a blue scholar's robe 42.
- Exists in a Phantom Body sustained by Void Energy rather than ordinary flesh 44 45.
Personality
Karl is an intensely single-minded scholar who values discovery over morality, loyalty, or survival of the societies around him. He views the destruction of species, civilizations, and even galaxies as insignificant unless it directly obstructs his research 44.
He rejects the Angel Civilization's attempts to impose cosmic order as impractical tyranny. Rather than seek to protect the Styx Galaxy, he regards it as replaceable experimental property and considers his Beast Body followers expendable test subjects 44.
His central ambition is to overturn the intellectual limits imposed by “Ultimate Fear,” redefine civilization through the Ultimate Void, and become the founder of a new era 43. This confidence collapses when he encounters the World Breakers, whose presence overwhelms his control of both his Phantom Body and emotions 45.
Abilities & Skills
Void Research
Karl developed theories concerning the Ultimate Void, a hypothetical civilization or state capable of breaking the paradoxes and boundaries of the known universe 43.
- Defines the Ultimate Void as something beyond God-level Civilizations and the intellectual constraints of the known universe 43.
- Conducted experiments intended to access the Void World through a constructed Void Gate 44.
- Misjudged the Void World and failed to anticipate the World Breakers beyond it 45.
Phantom Body
Karl replaced his original God River Body with a Phantom Body supported by Void Energy 44.
- Grants eternal life and freedom from ordinary flesh-and-blood instinctive reactions 45.
- Allows control over his own body and emotions under normal circumstances 45.
- Failed completely under the World Breakers' higher-dimensional pressure; his Phantom Body was annihilated when he was “eaten” 45.
Great Clock Operation
Karl uses the Great Clock as the core instrument of Death Song Academy's observation and experimentation 42 44.
- Monitored damage across 364,918 locations in the cosmic galaxy tree and detected 89 galaxies obscured by an unknown spatiotemporal force field 42.
- Calculated a suitable location for the Void Gate experiment 44.
- Drew on stellar energy from thousands of stars in the Styx Galaxy to generate Void Energy and open the gate 44.
- Became nonresponsive when the World Breakers arrived 45.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Great Clock — An advanced computational system used for stellar observation, calculations, and Void Gate preparations 42 44.
- Void Engine — Installed on Karl and powered by Void Energy; shut down in the World Breakers' presence 45.
- Void Gate — Karl's gateway into the Void World, later used by the World Breakers as a dimensional anchor 44 45.
Relationships
- Snow — Karl's long-serving follower and assistant. Snow feared the consequences of the Void Gate experiment, while Karl dismissed such concerns; Snow was devoured by a World Breaker before Karl 42 44 45.
- Morgana — Karl had provided Morgana with assets such as Crocodile God Soton. He did not answer her request for aid when the Demon Legion was being destroyed 11 42.
- Taotie Fleet — A Styx-affiliated force dispatched toward Earth before its annihilation by the Human Federation 5 42.
- Human Federation — A civilization Karl feared provoking after its rapid victories over the Taotie, Demons, Angels, and Lieyang. He initially suspected it was the Ultimate Void, then rejected that conclusion 42 43.
- Angel Civilization — Karl regarded the Order of Justice as an obstacle to his experiments and had originally intended for Keisha to be removed through a god-slaying operation 44.
- World Breakers — Higher-dimensional entities released through Karl's Void Gate. They identified Karl and Snow as prey, devoured them, and used the gate to enter the known universe 45.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Styx Galaxy Anomaly
Karl receives the Great Clock's alarming report on widespread galactic destruction and becomes increasingly wary of the Human Federation. He chooses isolation over aiding the Angels or rescuing Morgana's forces 42.
Ultimate Void Theory
Karl articulates his definition of the Ultimate Void as an existence that transcends all known cosmic paradoxes. His disappointment in the Human Federation reinforces his determination to pursue the void independently 43.
Opening the Void Gate
Believing the Angel Civilization's destruction has cleared the way for his research, Karl mobilizes stellar energy through the Great Clock and opens a passage into the Void World 44.
Death at the Hands of the World Breakers
The Void Gate releases World Breakers rather than the answers Karl sought. Their arrival disables his Phantom Body, Great Clock, and Void Engine; after witnessing Snow's death, Karl is devoured and annihilated 45.
