Background and History

Orochimaru was once Sarutobi Hiruzen’s exceptionally gifted disciple and one of the Legendary Sannin. His experiments on human subjects, including Konoha ninja, eventually exposed the path he had taken; Hiruzen and Jiraiya both failed to stop him permanently because they could not bring themselves to kill their former student and teammate. After defecting, Orochimaru established Otogakure as his own village. 5 85 119 217

His central ambition is to learn every ninjutsu and understand everything in the world. Believing that an ordinary lifespan was too short for this goal, he developed a forbidden reincarnation method that transfers his spirit into other bodies, allowing him to pursue immortality. 118
