In the altered present, Sasuke enters the Chūnin Exams with a Three-Tomoe Sharingan and a Kusanagi Sword, but the Cursed Seal becomes increasingly difficult to control. He accepts its power as necessary for revenge while intending to have Kakashi seal it after his match rather than surrender himself to Orochimaru. 341 346 357

Before Orochimaru’s attack, Team 7 has already obtained both required scrolls and is moving toward the Central Tower. Sasuke overestimates his chances of exploiting Orochimaru’s vulnerability to genjutsu, only to be defeated and branded with the seal. Orochimaru states that its survival rate is one in ten and uses the prospect of revenge to tempt him. 346

In the preliminary match against Yoroi, Kakashi warns Sasuke not to use chakra or the Sharingan. Sasuke identifies the mechanism of Yoroi’s chakra absorption, suppresses the seal through willpower, and severs his opponent’s arm with the Kusanagi. Kaede declares him the winner, and Kakashi removes him for sealing treatment despite his desire to watch the remaining matches. 358

Five Kage Summit Assault

Future footage shows Sasuke infiltrating the Five Kage Summit to kill Danzō. His Mangekyō-derived chakra, Amaterasu, Kagutsuchi, and Susanoo give him enormous power, but he abandons the calculated methods displayed against Deidara and recklessly attacks the Raikage without support. 374 377

Altered Konoha Collapse

During the invasion in the altered present, Kaede assigns Sasuke to confront the withdrawing Sand siblings if necessary, instructing him to capture rather than kill them to preserve future diplomatic options with Sunagakure. Sasuke has anticipated the crisis and accepts his role. 422

Later, he uses Thunder Breathing’s First Form to intercept a Sound ninja guarding the rear of a retreating group. He subsequently reunites with Kaede’s party on the return journey to Konoha, where they discover that the main battle has ended and Orochimaru has escaped. 437 438

Present Mangekyō Awakening and Itachi’s Complete Plan

As Konoha’s leaders consider Itachi’s impending return, Kakashi warns that openly rehabilitating him could drive Sasuke into rebellion. Their discussion weighs Itachi’s illness and political burden against Sasuke’s vastly greater future potential, without resolving the brothers’ conflict. 441

Further exposure of the truth provokes an overwhelming surge of hatred in Sasuke. His Yin Release chakra transforms his Three-Tomoe Sharingan into a six-pointed-star Mangekyō, achieving the power he sought without murdering Naruto or another loved one. 446

The Diary then reveals Itachi’s two principal contingencies: an implanted Amaterasu intended to kill Obito and Shisui’s eye hidden within Naruto, intended to compel Sasuke to protect Konoha after receiving Itachi’s eyes. Instead, Kotoamatsukami frees the reincarnated Itachi from Kabuto’s control. Sasuke is moved by Naruto’s promise to save him without killing him and cries as he grasps the full scope of Itachi’s choices. 449 450

When Itachi destroys Shisui’s eye and entrusts Sasuke’s future to Naruto rather than genjutsu, Sasuke recognizes his brother’s belated willingness to trust others. Nevertheless, he resolves that Itachi will no longer control his life and that he must choose his own future. 452

Post-Invasion Mourning and Shared Diary Discovery

Sasuke attends the funeral for Konoha’s invasion casualties. The gathered coffins recall the aftermath of the Uchiha massacre, but his understanding of the village has changed: Konoha remains his home even though its leaders helped bring about his clan’s destruction. 454
