History

Disaster of the Boundless Sea

Leviathan's earlier appearance in the Boundless Sea buried countless mechs beneath the ocean and severely damaged public confidence in the Watcher Alliance 40. During that disaster, the Alliance dispatched nuclear submarines to target what it believed was Leviathan's weakness beneath the sea; the resulting impact buried nearly all personnel under the creature 44.

The operation did destroy the original wormhole, preventing a complete defeat, but failed to destroy Leviathan itself. The Alliance only later realized that Leviathan could independently breed monsters 44.

Escalating Beast Tides

Leviathan remained in the center of the Boundless Sea as a continuing threat after the immediate crisis had passed 41. Its attacks accelerated monster evolution and increased the frequency of global assaults, leaving humanity short on resources and increasingly dependent on third-generation mechs and new technology 176.

Intelligence later established that Leviathan's next operation, designated “Doomsday,” would unleash Level 5 monsters through simultaneous wormholes around the world. The Watcher Alliance concluded that it had to launch an all-out offensive before the attack began 215.

Final Offensive

The Watcher Alliance deployed Sky Palace and its space-based controlled-fusion weapon, Judgment, to attack Leviathan while minimizing beast-blood catalysis and collateral damage 218. The first strike catastrophically damaged Leviathan but triggered a massive counterattack against the deployed forces 219.

Battle on Leviathan's Shell

As the Mobile Armor Legion fought across Leviathan's body, it released Level 5 monsters through openings in its shell. Yu Xiao identified the umbilical cords sustaining them, allowing the Alliance to disrupt their regeneration and destroy them with long-range energy weapons 220.

With its large creations neutralized, Leviathan attempted to devastate the continents by launching monster rain into the atmosphere. Yuan Zhen countered by deploying the Special Operations Force to intercept the escaping creatures 220.

Death and Rebirth

Unable to overcome the sustained assault and with Judgment nearing another firing cycle, Leviathan stopped producing monsters and rose from the sea in its full form 221. Rather than submit or await destruction, it expended its life to incubate a new black angel-like entity, leaving its own body to petrify and disperse beneath the second orbital strike 221.
