Xing Tian neural synchronization: 97% 22 Resumes control of Xing Tian during the battle against Demon Scorpion, allowing Yu Xiao to stop piloting two mechs alone.
MS-03 neural synchronization: 95% → 99% 82 After helping MS-03 escape its “Chasing Little Rabbit” state, Bai Ying can operate many systems through thought alone and move the mech as if it were her own body.
MS-03 neural synchronization: 100% 143 Her synchronization fully recovers while rescuing Douzi, releasing MS-03’s restraint unit and producing a major energy surge.
Butterfly / Die combat state 145–147 MS-03 transforms into Butterfly, enabling aerial maneuvering, an expanded energy field, and support for Xing Tian; the state places severe strain on Bai Ying.
Remote synchronization 174 Following her recovery, she remotely synchronizes with MS-03 without a combat suit or synchronization equipment.
Die neural synchronization: 100% 212 Bai Ying fully accepts MS-03’s hidden identity, Die, after reaching complete synchronization with her.

Background / History

Bai Ying is the daughter of General Chen Weimin. As a child, she admired her father’s military service despite his frequent absences. When she was nine, the Apocalypse began; Chen later became Xing Tian’s first pilot. Bai Ying’s mother died during a monster attack, while Chen obeyed an order that saved one city but abandoned another. Bai Ying consequently directed her grief and resentment toward both her father and Xing Tian. 50

At Xuanse Cangqiong, Bai Ying was personally recruited by General Chen and assessed at A rank, but her initial synchronization rate with Xing Tian was too low for full control. Although recognized as a gifted combatant, she treated the retired first-generation mech harshly during training and carried a deep, initially unexplained hatred for it. 1

Xing Tian’s decision to eject Bai Ying from the cockpit and face a powerful monster alone forces her to reconsider that hatred. She becomes fiercely committed to repairing the damaged mech, accepts punishment for disobeying orders, and asks General Chen to promise that Xing Tian will be fixed. 5 6

After discovering that Xing Tian possesses consciousness, Bai Ying accepts continued work as its pilot and guarantor. Her early conflict with Yu Xiao gradually develops into a partnership founded on trust, mutual protection, and open tactical discussion. 10 13 119

Appearance

Bai Ying is a petite young woman with long white hair and crimson-red eyes. Her appearance is often contrasted with her aggressive reputation and formidable combat ability. 1 8

  • White hair, often falling over or concealing her eyes. 6 50
  • Red pupils. 1 18
  • Usually wears close-fitting combat gear while piloting; off duty, she wears functional jackets or training clothes. 14 50 210
  • Her small build grants her an advantage in speed during close-quarters combat. 17

Personality

Initially, Bai Ying is hot-tempered, blunt, stubborn, and prone to solving disputes with force. Her reputation at Xuanse Cangqiong is severe enough that most personnel avoid provoking her; several men who approached her were beaten in the arena. 1 8

Her recklessness stems partly from grief and anger. She struggles to regulate her emotions and rarely considers others’ feelings, yet she is deeply compassionate beneath that exterior. Xing Tian’s sacrifice leaves her devastated because she believes the retired mech should never have been forced back onto the battlefield. 8

Bai Ying gradually becomes more thoughtful and collaborative. She listens to Yu Xiao’s reasoning, challenges his assumptions constructively, worries about her comrades, and takes responsibility for Die despite her distrust of Omega. 119 177 210 She remains independent-minded, but learns that trust and mutual recognition are essential between a pilot and a living mech. 212

Abilities & Skills

Mecha Piloting

Bai Ying is an exceptionally capable pilot, personally assessed at A rank despite her early difficulty synchronizing with Xing Tian. 1

  • Can operate Xing Tian continuously for six hours without rest. 15
  • Demonstrates a 97% synchronization rate with Xing Tian in combat. 22
  • Uses MS-03’s acceleration, transformation, melee weapons, missiles, and liquid-metal armor in battle. 51 115
  • Coordinates closely with Xing Tian, including changing targets mid-battle and protecting allied personnel. 105 137
  • Can remotely synchronize with MS-03 without standard pilot equipment after recovering from neural injury. 174

Advanced Synchronization

Bai Ying possesses an unusually high compatibility with conscious mechas.

  • Her connection with Xing Tian persists faintly after a forced neural disconnection; Xing Tian can contact her through dreams. 71
  • She experiences “Chasing Little Rabbit” within both Xing Tian and MS-03’s consciousness spaces. 9 74
  • At 99% synchronization with MS-03, she can issue many commands through thought alone and perform movements beyond normal human physical limits. 82
  • At 100% synchronization, MS-03/Die can release extraordinary power, though the process initially causes severe burns and comprehensive neural disorder. 143 158
  • Shares vision and mental space with Die, whose immature consciousness perceives the outside world through Bai Ying’s eyes. 174 178

Close-Quarters Combat

Bai Ying is a skilled unarmed fighter who relies on patience, speed, and precise targeting rather than raw strength. 17

  • Defeated the Silent Graveyard secretary by baiting her attacks, exhausting her, and striking behind her knee. 17
  • Remained calm while surrounded by an armed squad and continued to press Uncle Gao for answers. 17
  • Her combat ability and violent reputation make other base personnel reluctant to confront her. 1 8

Tactical Analysis

Bai Ying evaluates enemy behavior and adapts her approach quickly.

  • Identified a sudden energy drop at the moment a flesh-and-blood mech enemy was defeated and preserved the combat data for analysis. 118
  • Challenged Yu Xiao’s hypotheses about the enemies’ regeneration, weak points, and capacity to learn during battle. 119
  • Recognized that conventional missile attacks would be ineffective against the Hao Jie mimic’s rapid regeneration. 115
  • Uses Die’s energy field to direct six twelve-meter spikes as precision ranged weapons, freely altering their acceleration and trajectories. 196

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Xing Tian — First-generation mecha formerly piloted by Bai Ying; she remains its primary human pilot after Xing Tian’s awakening. 1 13
  • MS-03 / Die — Bai Ying’s experimental first-generation MS mech, later recognized by its hidden name, Die. 51 212
