Background / History

Tang Hao was cultivated by the Clear Sky Sect as the successor to the title of Clear Sky, a designation reserved for the sect's foremost Title Douluo. His exceptional aptitude earned him inherited soul bones and intensive training; he ultimately assembled a full set of soul bones, each at least Ten Thousand Years old. 140

He became a sworn enemy of Spirit Hall after killing the former Pope with a hammer strike. The conflict forced the Clear Sky Sect into seclusion and led to Tang Hao's expulsion, leaving him guilt-ridden toward his sect and consumed by hatred for Spirit Hall. 47 164

Tang Hao's wife, Ah Yin, was a Hundred Thousand Year transformed Blue Silver Emperor. Her sacrifice allowed Tang Hao to reach Level 90 and become a Title Douluo, with Ah Yin becoming his Ninth Soul Ring. Her disappearance and the theft of her Hundred Thousand Year Soul Bone later became central to Tang Hao's vendetta against Spirit Hall. 163

For years, Tang Hao lived in hiding around Nuoding City, covertly protecting his son Tang San. He viewed Tang San's twin martial souls and potential as the means to restore the Clear Sky Sect and retaliate against Spirit Hall. 48 91 164

Appearance

Tang Hao initially conceals himself beneath a tattered black robe, keeping his face hidden even in Nuoding City. 48

  • Carries the Clear Sky Hammer.
  • Lost his right arm during Taichu's ambush, along with a Ten Thousand Year Soul Bone. 144 147
  • Later regenerates the arm through a Fallen Spirit Master secret technique. 361 373
  • His Clear Sky Hammer develops blood-colored traces after he begins using Holy Spirit secret techniques. 363

Personality

Tang Hao is fiercely protective of Tang San and consistently prioritizes his son's survival, cultivation, and future power. He avoids risking his life when Tang San still needs his protection, relocates battles away from Tang San and Xiao Wu, and repeatedly escapes with them rather than abandoning them. 90 91 146 148

His paternal devotion is inseparable from calculation. Tang Hao intends to use Tang San's talent to restore the Clear Sky Sect and create problems for Spirit Hall. He also plans to exploit Xiao Wu's attachment to Tang San so that Tang San can eventually obtain her Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring and Soul Bone. 164 165

Tang Hao is vindictive, proud, and unwilling to accept defeat. After his arm is severed, he repeatedly risks fatal backlash through Ring Detonation rather than submit. His later pursuit of Fallen Spirit Master techniques further erodes his restraint, eventually driving him to kill and consume other Soul Masters for power. 146 360 363 370

Abilities & Skills

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang Hao's Clear Sky Hammer is an overwhelmingly powerful Power Attack-type martial soul, capable of devastating direct clashes and wide-area destruction.

  • Its raw force exceeds that of the Strength Clan. 91
  • Its hammer strikes destroy the surrounding terrain during his pursuit of Dugu Bo and Yang Wudi. 141
  • A single hammer strike empowered by black-red energy destroys Dugu Bo's Martial Soul Avatar. 148

Ring Detonation

A Clear Sky Sect secret technique that detonates soul rings to convert their energy into a temporary, enormous increase in power.

  • Detonated rings amplify Tang Hao's physical strength and the power of the Great Sumeru Hammer. 91
  • He detonates his first four rings against Snake Lance Douluo. 91
  • He later detonates up to seven rings, reaching strength beyond Level 96 but enduring extreme pain and physical strain. 139 140
  • Detonating an eighth ring after losing his arm temporarily raises him to Level 93. 146
  • The technique's amplification fades over time, leaving him vulnerable once his opponents stall him out. 142 143

Great Sumeru Hammer

The Clear Sky Sect's ultimate hammer technique, taught to only one person per generation.

  • Its power rises with the number of soul rings detonated beforehand. 91
  • Tang Hao uses it after detonating four rings against Snake Lance Douluo, creating an explosion that damages Nuoding Academy. 91
  • He uses it after detonating his Eighth Soul Ring during his escape from Dugu Bo and Yang Wudi. 146
  • He later uses Ring Detonation and the Great Sumeru Hammer to kill the Angel Legion's Title Douluo commander. 416

Soul Bone Physique

Tang Hao's full set of Ten Thousand Year-or-higher soul bones greatly reinforces his body.

  • Includes inherited Clear Sky Sect soul bones. 140
  • Allows him to endure the backlash of detonating seven soul rings. 140
  • Losing the right-arm soul bone alongside his arm causes a severe fall in Soul Power. 144 147

Fallen Spirit Master Techniques

After losing his arm and falling to Level 89, Tang Hao seeks forbidden methods from the Fallen Sect.

  • Blood Soul Rebirth Method — regenerates limbs by using other Spirit Masters' flesh, blood, and souls as nourishment. 352 353
  • Flesh and Blood Creation Method — improves aptitude, physique, and Soul Power; requires large numbers of Soul Masters as “materials.” 370
  • The techniques induce bloodthirsty thoughts, which Tang Hao initially attempts to resist using the mental fortitude gained from Clear Sky Sect training and Slaughter City. 360 361

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Clear Sky Hammer — his martial soul and primary weapon.
  • Full set of soul bones — all originally at least Ten Thousand Years old; includes Clear Sky Sect inherited soul bones. 140
  • Hundred Thousand Year Ninth Soul Ring — derived from Ah Yin's sacrifice; temporarily inaccessible after his fall to Level 89, then restored upon his return to Level 90. 146 373

Relationships

  • Tang San — his son. Tang Hao protects him from the shadows, directs his cultivation, and intends to use his potential to restore the Clear Sky Sect and oppose Spirit Hall. 48 91 164 165
  • Ah Yin — his wife, a Hundred Thousand Year transformed Blue Silver Emperor. Her sacrifice made Tang Hao a Title Douluo; her loss drives his hatred of Spirit Hall. 163
  • Xiao Wu — Tang Hao identifies her as a Hundred Thousand Year transformed soul beast and plans for her to become Tang San's Ninth Soul Ring and Soul Bone. 48 165
  • Dugu Bo — enemy who helps ambush, injure, and pursue Tang Hao; Tang Hao vows vengeance against him. 136 143 147
  • Yang Wudi — former Clear Sky Sect subordinate and bitter enemy whose clan suffered because of the sect; participates in the hunt for Tang Hao. 125 136 140
  • Taichu — adversary seeking revenge against Tang Hao. Taichu engineers the ambush that costs Tang Hao his arm and right-arm soul bone. 144 146
  • Yu Xiaogang — Tang San's teacher. Tang Hao permits Tang San to study under him partly in hopes that Yu Xiaogang can obtain Bibi Dong's Twin Martial Soul cultivation method. 141
  • Tang Yuehua — his sister, whose information helps guide his search for Fallen Spirit Master secret arts. 345
  • Tang Xiao — his elder brother and a Clear Sky Sect figure who learns of Tang Hao's injury and decline. 202
