Yang Wudi is the patriarch of the Breaking Clan, a single-attribute clan known for the Soul-Breaking Spear and exceptional medicine refinement. The clan was formerly affiliated with the Clear Sky Sect, but Yang Wudi was deeply embittered by the sect's betrayal and its subsequent hostility toward the four affiliated clans. He was the first among them to bear pressure from Spirit Hall after the Clear Sky Sect abandoned them. 179

Dugu Bo secured an agreement with the Breaking Clan that brought Yang Wudi to Samsara Academy as a combat instructor. The clan also became responsible for developing medicinal pills for the academy, including pills derived from Whale Rubber to strengthen a soul master's physique. 66

Under Taichu and Dugu Bo's support, Yang Wudi received rare resources—including multiple Soul Bones, medicinal pills, and a Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring—and rose from Spirit Douluo to Title Douluo in roughly three years.
