Turles's Discovery

Just as Turles was agonizing over the ultimate technique he had been creating, Broly pushed open the laboratory door and walked in, accompanied by Paragus.

After hearing the commotion, Turles lowered his hands, and his expression returned to a state of calm.

"Turles, what do you want with me?"

Paragus remained as blunt as ever toward Turles, perhaps because he felt it helped assert a status no lower than his own.

Turles didn't mind this in the slightest. He first offered Broly a smile before speaking: "Paragus, do you know how a Saiyan can maintain the 10x power boost of the Great Ape Transformation while in their base form?"

"What?" Paragus was stunned at first, then immediately retorted, "Impossible, that's impossible!"

Paragus knew that Turles had been researching how to maintain the 10x boost of the Great Ape Transformation in base form, but he had never thought much of Turles's ideas.

As an accomplished scholar himself, Paragus had naturally studied the Saiyan Great Ape Transformation, which was precisely why he understood just how difficult it was to maintain that 10x boost in a normal state.

So, upon hearing Turles's question, Paragus's first thought was that Turles had finally lost his mind, and he felt a sudden surge of joy.

However, after a second thought, he became uncertain. He hesitated for a moment before asking:

"Did you actually figure it out?"

Turles didn't speak; he simply gave Paragus a smile.

"Tch!"

The thing Paragus hated most about Turles was his tendency to put on airs and act like a riddle-maker, which infuriated him every time.

Yet, from the look on Turles's face, Paragus was certain that he might—possibly, perhaps—have actually discovered something. This left him feeling both annoyed and excited.

One had to realize that while the Great Ape Transformation provided Saiyans with a 10x power boost, the increase in body size caused them to lose their agility. Coupled with the fact that most Saiyans lost their sanity after transforming, it turned them into living targets. It was no wonder Frieza had always looked down on Saiyans, calling them "wild monkeys"!

Therefore, if Turles really had discovered something, the impact on the Saiyans would be absolutely monumental.

Paragus fell into a dilemma. As a future king dedicated to the revival of the Saiyans, he understood that his people needed this research. But as that same future king, he didn't want this research to be leaked out carelessly.

Watching Paragus struggle, Turles caught on to his thoughts with a quick mental turn. He couldn't help but roll his eyes and, ignoring him, shifted his gaze to Broly.

Turles's eyes burned with intensity. He felt that Broly was a true treasure; not only was his personal potential staggering—certainly capable of reaching a level of combat power no less than a God of Destruction—but he had also allowed Turles to uncover the secrets of the Saiyans, thereby further enhancing his own strength.

Broly felt a bit uneasy under Turles's gaze, especially when Turles kept looking at the spot where his tail had been severed, which sent a chill down his spine.

Although Broly had lost his sanity at the time, he could still feel that Turles had done something to him. The sense of powerlessness he felt even after regaining his senses was something he had never experienced in his life. Being stared at by Turles like this, he couldn't help but feel a bit afraid.

Turles watched Broly, who kept avoiding his gaze, and felt puzzled. He didn't understand why Broly seemed afraid of him; he was his only good friend, after all!

Turles, naturally, had no idea how much of a psychological shadow he had cast over Broly.

Turles thought about it, but he truly couldn't fathom why Broly would be afraid of him. However, he quickly cast the question to the back of his mind and looked at Broly with a beaming smile once again.

Turles had indeed discovered something regarding the Saiyan base-form 10x multiplier of the Great Ape Transformation, just as Paragus had suspected.

As it turned out, his previous line of thinking had been completely wrong—or rather, not entirely wrong, but mostly correct yet focused on the wrong key direction. He shouldn't have focused solely on the Saiyan tail.

It was true that the tail, as the source of Saiyan power, was the only part capable of receiving Blutz Waves to trigger cellular mutation in the body. However, Turles had been ignoring a vital organ: the spine.

The spine is the essential structural organ for all bipedal creatures; it connects the body to the tail and is a crucial component of biological activity.

Therefore, when Blutz Waves hit a Saiyan's tail, the spine actually absorbs them passively as well, and the mutation of the Saiyan's body cells begins precisely from the spine.

Previously, all of Turles' attention had been focused on the tail because he had discovered that Great Ape Power originated there. Even when he hadn't used Blutz Waves last time and had only used mental energy to stimulate it, the result was the same.

It was only after his accidental battle with the monster Broly that Turles realized the Saiyan spine also played an undeniable role in this transformation.

Ordinary Saiyans, lacking Broly's unique constitution, would quickly revert from the Great Ape Transformation once their tails were severed and the supply of Great Ape Power was cut off.

Broly, however, was special due to his Super Saiyan nature. Even after his tail was cut off, his spine could generate Great Ape Power on its own. Although it didn't generate at the same speed as it did from the tail, it still allowed him to maintain the transformation.

Furthermore, Turles remembered that in the later Tournament of Power, Son Goku had instructed Caulifla of Universe 6 to transform into a Super Saiyan 2 by focusing her power into her back, stimulating the mass production of S-Cells to trigger the Super Saiyan transformation.

This gave Turles the inspiration he needed to find a way to cut off Broly's transformation during their fight, forcing Broly to revert from his Great Ape state.

Turles realized that to maintain the 10x multiplier of the Great Ape Transformation while in base form, he would need to cut off the spine's participation in the cellular mutation, keeping only the boost provided by the Great Ape Power from the tail.

This also led Turles to form more theories regarding the Super Saiyan 4 transformation.

If the Super Saiyan transformation was caused by the spine and the Great Ape Transformation by the tail, then Super Saiyan 4 was likely the combined effect of both. This might also be why Son Goku first transformed into a Golden Great Ape before reaching Super Saiyan 4 under the stimulation of extreme emotion.

Turles didn't know if his hypothesis was correct, but that didn't stop him from using it as a foundation to find a way to normalize the 10x multiplier.

Turles shared his thoughts with Paragus, who fell into deep contemplation after listening.

Although Paragus didn't know that the Super Saiyan transformation required concentrating energy in the back to stimulate S-Cells, he combined this with his previous research and vaguely felt that Turles' idea was correct.

If, according to Turles' theory, one could utilize the boost in combat power from the Great Ape Power without actually transforming into a Great Ape, then it was very likely that a Saiyan could maintain their sanity while under the 10x multiplier of the Great Ape Power. The increase in a Saiyan's combat effectiveness would be far more significant than just a simple 10x multiplier.

One had to realize that a warrior with only beastly instincts and a warrior who retained their sanity and possessed rich combat experience were two completely different things. With the same combat power, the latter could easily crush the former.

Thinking of this, Paragus could no longer hold back. He looked at Turles with a hopeful expression and asked:

"So, have you figured out how to cut off the spine's participation and let only the tail receive the Blutz Waves?"

But when Turles heard this, he stopped talking and just looked at Paragus with a smile.

"Damn it!"

Seeing that look on Turles' face again, Paragus couldn't take it anymore and cursed out loud.

"You... you..." Paragus pointed his finger at Turles, so angry he couldn't even get the words out.

Just as Paragus was about to lose his temper and engage in a battle with Turles, the laboratory door was pushed open once again. Raditz walked in, holding a severed tail in his hand.

Seeing Raditz return, Turles couldn't be bothered to continue taunting Paragus. He immediately stepped forward and took Broly's severed tail from Raditz's hand.

Turles stroked the furry tail, unable to resist twirling it in his hand. It wasn't until he noticed the strange looks from the others that he gave a light cough to cover up his lapse in composure.

After handing Broly's tail to Karl, who was standing to the side, Turles resumed his cold expression and began to look Raditz up and down.

Raditz had recently been traumatized by Turles's training. Seeing Turles eyeing him up and down, he instinctively took a step back and immediately turned to flee.

But Turles was incredibly fast. Before Raditz could even react, he had already been grabbed by the back of his collar by Turles.

Seeing that escape was impossible, Raditz slowly turned his head back, his face twisted in misery as he said, "Turles, can I opt out of this?"

Turles remained expressionless and flatly rejected Raditz's plea. He hauled Raditz out of the laboratory and flew straight toward the open field in the distance!
