Background / History

Yu Xiaogang is the cast-off son of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. His martial soul underwent a failed mutation, leaving him with Luo Sanpao and preventing him from advancing beyond level 29 for decades. He later became known as the “Grandmaster” through his martial soul theory work. 58 60 65

He was once Bibi Dong's lover. Qian Xunji forcibly separated them, and Yu Xiaogang left rather than remain with her, an event that continued to shape Bibi Dong's resentment and attachment to him. 58 28

His confidence often manifests as arrogance toward others, including Martial Soul Hall staff. When challenged, he invokes his supposed relationship with the Pope and attempts to command respect through an Elder Token. 61

Despite his humiliations, he remains calculating and manipulative. After Tang Hao rescues him, he lies to Tang San and Xiao Wu about escaping custody, using promises of Monster Academy's training to make them follow him to Suotuo City. 66

Yu Xiaogang serves as Tang San's teacher at Nuoding Academy. He accompanies Tang San to obtain a four-hundred-year Datura Snake spirit ring and records the results for his theoretical work. 40

Office Fire

Jiang Bai sends Boss, the Fire Dragon Spirit, to attack Yu Xiaogang in his office. Yu Xiaogang suffers severe burns while his books, research notes, and documents are destroyed. Tang San attempts a rescue with Blue Silver Grass, accidentally poisons him with its paralytic toxin, and ultimately extinguishes the fire with water and a bucket of urine. 40 41

The loss of his research devastates Yu Xiaogang, who blames the responding teachers for arriving too late. 41

Public Refutation and Arrest

Qian Renxue publishes an article under the name Jiang Xue'er that systematically challenges Yu Xiaogang's Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul Theory. Enraged, Yu Xiaogang resolves to write a rebuttal. 60 61

Tang Hao breaks him out, provides him with a Pope Token, and orders him to escort Tang San and Xiao Wu to Monster Academy in Suotuo City. 65 66

Flight to Monster Academy

Yu Xiaogang falsely tells Tang San and Xiao Wu that Martial Soul Hall framed him, tortured him for the Elder Token, and forced him to flee. Tang San accepts the explanation, while Xiao Wu agrees to travel only after being promised instruction from Soul Saint-level teachers. 66
