After spending a day together, Ju Zi and Qian Renxue had not become as close as sisters, but they had at least accepted each other. The initial unfamiliarity and wariness were gone.
From Ju Zi, Qian Renxue learned much about the events of ten thousand years later, including Spirit Hall's ultimate fate. Even with two gods on its side, it had still been destroyed by Tang San. Her original self in particular had ended up with her divine position shattered, forever unable to advance beyond level 89.
The news left Qian Renxue with complicated feelings. Back in the Angel God Trial space, she had held back at the very end because she wanted to help her original self become a god. Who could have expected such an outcome?
Spirit Hall had fallen, that woman had died, and even she herself had been crippled along with them.
"What a complete waste!" That was her final assessment of her original self.
Meanwhile, Ju Zi had also figured out the current timeline. On the present-day Douluo Continent, Spirit Hall was still the absolute hegemon, while Tang San—the man who had ruined her lifelong ambitions—had not even awakened his martial soul yet. This only strengthened her resolve to unite the continent in this era.
Late that night, inside the Wooden House, Luo Can and Qian Renxue were engaged in their usual "sparring."
"Ju Zi is indeed a rare talent, but let me make this clear first: without my permission, you are not allowed to get any ideas about her." Qian Renxue dissolved his attacks as she spoke in a serious tone.
"Don't worry. I can barely handle just you right now; how could I have the energy to flirt with other women?" Luo Can gritted his teeth and "strenuously" blocked her attack, replying with a bitter smile.
"So how do you plan to arrange for her?" Qian Renxue asked again, her offensive suddenly accelerating as every move targeted his "openings."
"I previously fished up quite a few Soul Tools from the lake, along with complete sets of Soul Tool blueprints. Ju Zi is a top genius in this field, so I plan to establish a Soul Tool Hall in Fate Defying Pavilion and have her serve as its master." Forced back step by step, Luo Can could only barely hold his ground, yet he still managed to state his plans in the gaps between attacks.
Qian Renxue nodded at that. Ju Zi had told her of Soul Tool technology ten thousand years in the future, especially the Level 9 Fixed Soul Guidance Cannon, which was powerful enough to blast a Title Douluo to death. Qian Renxue had taken an interest in the technology long ago, so naturally she did not object to Luo Can's arrangement.
Two hours later, the "sparring match" finally came to an end.
Luo Can suffered a "narrow defeat." Supporting his waist, he emerged from Qian Renxue's room and rested for quite a while before going to guide his two disciples in their cultivation.
After refining the gains from this "sparring session," Qian Renxue no longer harbored any resentment over Luo Can fishing up Ju Zi. She even began considering how to firmly tie this extraordinarily talented girl to Fate Defying Pavilion's chariot.
Only after finishing the day's lessons with his two disciples did Luo Can find Ju Zi, who was wandering around The Valley.
Fate Defying Valley was a Blessed Land rich in spiritual energy. After spending a day there, Ju Zi felt refreshed all over. Even the circulation of her Soul Power was noticeably faster than usual.
Yet the moment she saw Luo Can approaching, Ju Zi's little face instantly turned red. She subconsciously took half a step back, looking at him as though he were some kind of pervert.
After all, she had heard everything going on in that room from last night until this morning. Those two were simply unbearable to watch.
Luo Can blushed under her gaze. Embarrassed, he scratched his head, cleared his throat, and broke the awkward silence. "Well, I came to discuss something with you."
Ju Zi's expression tightened. She took another half-step back, crossed her arms over her chest, and watched him warily. "I don't agree!"
She had clearly gotten the completely wrong idea.
Luo Can did not know whether to laugh or cry. He hurriedly waved his hands in explanation. "What are you thinking? I came to ask you to become the master of Fate Defying Pavilion's Soul Tool Hall. I don't have any other improper intentions!"
Only then did Ju Zi relax and lower her crossed arms.
"I can be the hall master, but let me be clear first: researching Soul Tools requires more than blueprints. We need capable personnel who understand the field, and more importantly, not every Spirit Master has the talent to learn Soul Tool technology." Ju Zi spoke with a serious expression.
Luo Can smiled. "I have more than enough blueprints, of every grade. But as for personnel, we really are short at the moment."
"So I'm the commander of a one-person army?" Ju Zi immediately pouted in dissatisfaction.
"The faction has only just started. There's no helping it, so you'll have to put up with it for now." Luo Can spread his hands helplessly.
"Fine, fine. I guess I've boarded your pirate ship." Ju Zi waved her hand, agreeing to the matter.
But immediately afterward, she seemed to remember something. Her face reddened as she glared at Luo Can. "There's one more thing. Could you stop fooling around with Qian Renxue in broad daylight? I'm an unmarried girl living here. Could you at least show me a little respect?"
"Haha, sure, sure. Next time, definitely next time." Luo Can laughed awkwardly and hurriedly muddled through it.
After settling the appointment, Luo Can took out a small bottle of Life-Reversing Spring Water from his Storage Soul Tool and handed it to Ju Zi. "Your Soul Power was built up through special methods and medicine, so your foundation is a little unstable. This can make up for the flaws in your Soul Power and improve your talent as well."
"Thanks." Ju Zi did not stand on ceremony. She took the jade bottle, pulled out the stopper, and drank it in one gulp.
The moment the spring water entered her stomach, a gentle warm current instantly spread through her limbs and bones. In mere moments, a layer of gray impurities seeped from her skin. The instability left behind by her previous cultivation was swept away, her Soul Power circulated far more smoothly than before, and even her rank jumped directly from level 52 to level 55.
"This really is good stuff!" Ju Zi could not help exclaiming as she felt the changes within her body.
"I've got plenty more good things. Not only do I have pills that can raise Soul Power without side effects, I even have treasures that can directly increase the age of Spirit Rings." Luo Can smiled as he painted her an enticing picture. "As long as you stay in Fate Defying Pavilion and work diligently, becoming a Title Douluo will be no problem. Even becoming a Level 9 Soul Engineer won't be difficult."
Ju Zi naturally understood that Luo Can was trying to win her over, but she had to admit that the terms he offered were simply impossible to refuse.
She nodded heavily. "Don't worry. Since I've joined Fate Defying Pavilion, I will never betray it."
"Then it's settled. In a while, I'll take you to Fate Defying Pavilion's base so you can meet everyone there and familiarize yourself with the situation," Luo Can said.
"Alright." Ju Zi nodded in response.
Half an hour later, just as Luo Can was preparing to leave with Ju Zi, Qian Renxue followed them. Claiming that she did not trust Luo Can and feared he might "steal a taste" behind her back, she insisted on coming along.
Before long, the three arrived outside Baican Village.
Seeing the scene before her, Ju Zi could not help feeling doubtful.
Although Fate Defying Pavilion had taken shape, it was only slightly stronger than those small sects. Right beside it was an utterly ordinary little village, and it did not even have a proper sect gate.
She could not help wondering whether joining such a newly founded minor faction would truly allow her to accomplish her grand ambition of unifying the continent.
The three did not linger. They walked straight into the temporary meeting hall in the village and found Ye Qingyu handling affairs inside.
Qian Renxue had previously cleared away all the accumulated sect business and even finished next month's construction plans, so Ye Qingyu had become much more free. Upon seeing them enter, Ye Qingyu immediately put down her pen and greeted them with a smile.
Luo Can quickly introduced her. "Sister Ye, let me introduce you. This is Ju Zi. From now on, she'll be the master of our Fate Defying Pavilion's Soul Tool Hall."
