Kismet didn't know that when Sol said "that person," he meant the person he had seen in the "past," sitting atop a mountain of corpses. He thought Sol was referring to the Diary's previous owner.
He told Sol, "Douglas used to believe that observation led to true understanding. To advance further in the domain of death, he observed the deaths of countless people. So now that he's suddenly returned to observe the death of the world, he's bound to gain far more than he did before."
Douglas wasn't the sort to revere nature. To observe the deaths of so many people, he would have to cause a great deal of slaughter.
"I came to help you because I want to help you develop as quickly as possible. If the Abyss swallowed the Wizard World without meeting any resistance, that would hold no value as an observation for Douglas, either."
"The Wizard World is at a disadvantage against the Eye of the Abyss right now, so for the moment, your goals and his are the same."
For the moment...
Which meant that if the Wizard World grew too powerful, Douglas might turn around and help the Abyss.
Though, judging by the current situation, that didn't seem likely.
A thought flashed through Sol's mind. "Wait. If Douglas really wants to play both sides and keep them balanced, then he must be watching both of them. Could he have something to do with the sudden closure of the Pore in the Chaos Domain?"
Could Douglas have already made contact with Camus?
Sol looked up at Kismet. "I'll give your suggestion serious consideration. If you really are here to help, there's plenty I can put you to work on."
Sol planned to deduce what was happening on the Abyss's side and wanted to send
