Background
Chen Feng entered Titan: Genesis under the ID Vanguard Across the Realm. Though he was a professional player, he initially regarded his Hunter build as fragile “cannon fodder”: its exceptional agility came at the expense of Constitution and Spirit. He compensated through pragmatic decision-making, breathing control, terrain use, and precise weapon strikes rather than relying on raw attributes 3 10.
After becoming the first player to advance classes, he spent all 3,050 Bio-Energy he had earned through twenty-two sleepless hours of grinding on a vial of Titan Blood (Diluted Version). Its real-world effect cured his Synaptic Reaction Delay Syndrome, confirming for him that progression in the game could physically transform its players 10.
Appearance
Vanguard Across the Realm is most often identified by his assassin’s dagger and sudden, high-speed movement. After becoming a Void Walker, he manifested black armor traced with dark-purple, Abyss-like patterns that unsettled even other top players 158.
- Wields the black, growth-type short blade Origin Fang 17.
- Often appears as a black afterimage or “ghost” while using Flash Step and stealth-based movement 34 146.
- Wore a cloak while commanding the early Storm Abyss campaigns 13.
- His Void Walker armor carries flowing purple-black patterns across its surface 158.
Personality
Vanguard Across the Realm is calm, calculating, and intensely results-oriented. He evaluates enemy strength realistically, refusing suicidal fights even when he is the server’s strongest player; when he encountered Living Flame: Ember and later Purgatory Ripper, he prioritized retreat, intelligence gathering, and preparation over personal glory 9 146.
As a commander, he favors durable infrastructure, disciplined formations, and long-term resource control. His decision to build a frontline Respawn Point, establish Dawn as a service-oriented guild, and integrate three hundred special-forces players all reflect a preference for organization over individual heroics 7 14 17.
He can also be ruthless when he believes the objective requires it. When Cloud Pomelo attempted to leave a high-level party by suiciding back to the city, he killed her himself to prevent her departure 133.
Abilities & Skills
Ghost Blade Techniques
After clearing the Ghost Blade advancement trial, Vanguard gained an assassin toolkit built around stealth, positioning, and burst damage 10.
- Shadow Step — Teleporting backstab technique used to breach enemy lines or escape danger 10.
- Execution — Raises his ability to finish weakened targets 10.
- Stealth and infiltration — Can remain concealed during reconnaissance, use environmental noise to mask movement, and infiltrate deep hostile territory alone 10 146.
- Precision attacks — Targets weak points, joints, life cores, and formation operators rather than trading blows directly 27 98 286.
Neural Sequence
His Neural Sequence progression enhances perception, reaction speed, and lethal combat timing.
- Synaptic Acceleration — Enhances neural response and dynamic visual tracking; he perceives enemy movements in slowed, frame-by-frame detail 27 31.
- Intermediate Synaptic Acceleration — Further improves his thought speed and perception 47.
- Hunting Instinct — Detects killing intent and imminent danger; it warned him of a Calamity Kin’s explosive backlash before it occurred 27 85.
- Neural Pierce — Ignores part of physical defense, deals true mental damage, and stuns the target 147.
Extreme Mobility
Flash Step is the skill most closely associated with Vanguard’s fighting style. His usage frequency exceeded that of the players ranked second through tenth combined, one of the conditions that unlocked Void Walker 157.
- Flash Step — Spatial displacement used for evasive movement, sudden attacks, scouting, and breaking out of enemy encirclement 66 98 108.
- Bullet Time — Slows his perception of the surrounding world, allowing him to react to attacks from faster opponents 40 105.
- Lethal Tempo — Used in conjunction with Bullet Time during high-speed combat 105.
- Can sustain supersonic travel; while scouting the Emerald Crystal Forest, he maintained approximately Mach 1.3 while waiting for Data Maniac 109.
Pain Stripping
Vanguard unlocked Pain Stripping at Level 37 by investing five potential points into the third-tier Neural Sequence 98.
- Its temporary-health effect has a limit, preventing him from reviving allies whose level gap remains too large 101.
- Ci Beili developed a method that removes the skill’s respawn cost, allowing Vanguard to respawn in place and repeatedly trigger it 100.
Void Walker
Void Walker is Vanguard’s unique hidden second class advancement. It replaced both standard Ghost Blade advancement choices after the system verified his exceptional Flash Step usage, true-damage record, and damage dealt to Void creatures 157.
- Void Warp — Fuses Bullet Time and Flash Step, nearly halting local time while enabling Void leaps that ignore collision volume and gravity 157.
- Void Control: Blade of Annihilation — Adds Void Annihilation to his attacks, bypassing conventional physical armor and magical shields to erase targets directly 157.
- Demonstrated the ability by bypassing a Level 50+ Dark Spirit assassin’s Shadow Shield and killing him with a single strike 203.
Command and Reconnaissance
Vanguard combines individual combat strength with battlefield planning.
- Formed the first elite Storm Abyss squad and assigned roles based on class strengths 6.
- Conceived the Flesh Fortress project to create a forward Respawn Point, repair station, and supply station 7.
- Coordinates regimental attacks, rotations, construction projects, and target prioritization for Dawn Guild 22 25 29.
- Serves as a high-risk scout, recording Lord-class monster mechanics and relaying real-time warnings to command 146 147.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Origin Fang — Unique, growth-type short blade bound to Vanguard’s biological traits. It absorbs genetic fragments from high-level kills to evolve 17.
- Titan’s Fist — Mecha equipped with a Chainsaw Thermal Blade and six back thrusters; lost during a defensive battle against high-temperature enemies 41 47.
- Bone Blade — His early Hunter weapon and his principal advantage during his first battles 3.
- Titan Blood (Diluted Version) — Purchased after his first class advancement; cured his Synaptic Reaction Delay Syndrome in reality 10.
Relationships
- Brute Force Yields Miracles — Core teammate and frontline tank. Vanguard recruited him for the original Storm Abyss elite squad, and the two repeatedly pair assassin pressure with Brute Force’s direct assaults 6 22.
- Cloud Pomelo — Dawn’s core healer. She maintains Life Link even while injured to support him, though Vanguard once killed her to stop her from abandoning a high-level expedition 133 286.
- Thunder King (Lei Zhen) — Longtime squadmate and military liaison. Lei Zhen brought three hundred special-forces players into Dawn, strengthening Vanguard’s guild with trained personnel 6 17.
- Data Maniac (Li Zihan) — Strategic partner whose Psionic Vision supports Vanguard’s scouting and target selection; they also coordinate through Mind Network in major battles 108 286.
- Dragon Fighting in the Wild — Friendly rival and frequent ally. Their rivalry includes competing Mecha designs and guild strategies, but they cooperate against major threats 47 286.
- Tian Ce (Fang Ce) — Tactical peer who works with Vanguard during large-scale campaigns and provides battlefield analysis through Psionic Vision 77 201.
- Ci Beili — Researcher who shared the Pain Stripping respawn strategy with Vanguard and introduced him to Xinglong 100.
- Xinglong — Reconstructor whom Vanguard considers strategically vital; he personally power-levels Xinglong and keeps him protected in Emerald City 101 105.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Storm Abyss Pioneer
Vanguard formed a five-player elite team to enter Storm Abyss shortly after the game opened. Recognizing that the map’s travel time made repeated deaths unsustainable, he proposed a player-funded frontline fortress; the completed Beacon created a safe zone and Respawn Point that became the foundation of Dawn 6 7.
He led the fortress defense, reached Level 6 ahead of the server, and pushed into deeper Storm Abyss before his team was wiped out by Living Flame: Ember. Rather than challenge the overwhelming enemy again immediately, he ground to Level 10, cleared the Ghost Blade trial, and became the server’s first class-advanced player 8 9 10.
Founder of Dawn
Vanguard established Dawn Guild after purchasing the server’s first Guild Token. His stated model was not domination through exclusion, but becoming the server’s largest provider of leveling, class-advancement, escort, and high-risk material-gathering services 14 16.
During the Liver campaigns, he led Dawn through the Poisonous Labyrinth, the Cardia Defense Line, and H-124 Fortress. His guild’s organized construction and rotation tactics allowed it to compete with wealthier rivals such as Dragon War Guild 22 25 29.
Evolution and Void Campaigns
After becoming the first Level 20 player, Vanguard unlocked the first Gene Lock and began Neural Sequence progression. He later operated Titan’s Fist, lost it in battle, and continued to advance through personal mobility and neural talents rather than relying on the Mecha 27 41 47.
He became the first Level 30 player, helped conduct raids into the Void Hive, and repeatedly challenged the Void Devouring Insect’s nest. At Level 37, he unlocked Pain Stripping and continued using dangerous solo assaults to test enemy mechanics and create guides for larger player forces 57 98 100.
Gallbladder and Bronchus Mobilization
Vanguard led expeditions into the Gallbladder, helped establish Hanging City under pressure from Level 45 Emerald Hunters, and scouted the Emerald Crystal Forest with Data Maniac. There, they identified the Jade Peak Beast as a Lord at least twenty levels above Vanguard’s Level 37 105 108.
During the Right Lung Lobe Bronchus mobilization, he infiltrated ahead of the army, identified the Level 50 Lord Purgatory Ripper, and tracked it while delivering intelligence to headquarters. He reached Level 39 during the pursuit, then reached Level 40 after the Lord’s defeat 146 147 157.
Void Walker and Companion Star Operations
Vanguard’s Level 40 advancement forcibly unlocked Void Walker, granting him Void Warp and Blade of Annihilation. The class immediately elevated him into a battlefield threat capable of bypassing defenses that had stopped conventional attacks 157 203.
He later led first-echelon players on Companion Star S-1, participated in the raid beneath Shadow City, and used Flash Step to reach the magic-energy crystal powering a door-destruction formation before it could destroy the white stone door 201 286. He remains part of the seven-player vanguard confronting major Void threats 294 296.
