Wang Sheng's Soul Power was currently at level nine. He had yet to attach a Spirit Ring and become a true Spirit Master.
Although his Tiger Martial Soul was fairly good, and he himself was quite sturdy, Chen Ming's build was no less imposing than his own, perhaps even slightly better. Thinking of the word "armored" in Heavy Armored Earth Dragon, Wang Sheng did not dare say for certain that he could win.
"A spar? Since it's the rule, of course we can." Chen Ming set down his luggage, walked to an open area, and cupped his hands toward Wang Sheng.
"Chen Ming, level-eight Spirit Scholar, Heavy Armored Earth Dragon Martial Soul. Please instruct me."
"I... Wang Sheng, Tiger Martial Soul, level-nine Spirit Scholar. Please instruct me." Seeing Chen Ming's calm composure, Wang Sheng felt somewhat nervous and stammered as he copied Chen Ming's manner.
After exchanging greetings, Wang Sheng released his Martial Soul and charged fiercely at Chen Ming, both hands clenched into fists as he swung them at Chen Ming's chest. Chen Ming, meanwhile, summoned his Martial Soul and transformed into a heavily armored half-dragon, half-human form, charging at Wang Sheng like a small tank.
Wang Sheng's fists struck Chen Ming's chest as though they had hit a massive stone. Wang Sheng bared his teeth in pain, while Chen Ming merely felt as though he had been lightly tapped. Then Chen Ming drove his shoulder into Wang Sheng's chest, sending Wang Sheng flying over a meter away before he crashed awkwardly onto the ground.
No technique was needed. Chen Ming's stats alone were enough to solve the problem.
Wang Sheng climbed up from the ground, grimacing as he looked at the imposing Chen Ming, his eyes filled with envy.
"So strong. Is this a Dragon Martial Soul? It's actually so much stronger than mine. And weren't you born with level-seven Innate Soul Power? You just said you were level eight. Don't tell me that in the mere three months since your Martial Soul awakening, you've already risen by a level? That's incredibly fast!"
"Maybe that's just talent." Chen Ming did not deny it, merely mentioning it casually.
After all, it really was talent. Chen Ming could not explain it away even if he tried. Even AI Thinking was his golden finger, part of his talent.
In the Douluo World, this was simply how vast the gap in talent could be.
"Since you won, you're Dorm Seven's boss. Our Dorm Seven..."
Just as Wang Sheng was about to explain, the door was pushed open again. The newcomer was Tang San, who had just left Yu Xiaogang.
Seeing Chen Ming with his Martial Soul summoned, Tang San's first thought was that Chen Ming had offended someone and been ganged up on. But after another look, Chen Ming was still standing there calmly, while the large student looked battered and disheveled. Tang San felt somewhat disappointed.
Although Chen Ming and Tang San had not interacted much, nor had anything happened that could truly be called malicious,
Tang San's Martial Soul was the Blue Silver Grass, a useless Martial Soul looked down upon by others, while Chen Ming's was an Earth Dragon. Because of that, no matter how Tang San looked at Chen Ming, he always felt that Chen Ming held him in contempt.
Though that was not actually the case, Tang San... if he believed it was, then it was.
"I'm not interested in being anyone's boss. I only came here to study properly. If someone else wants to bully people, I'll definitely help out. But forget about boss-related matters." Chen Ming patted Wang Sheng on the shoulder, then pointed at Tang San.
"This is my fellow villager, Tang San. He has Innate Full Soul Power, and his talent is even better than mine. I sparred with him once before, and I couldn't touch him at all the entire time. If you want to find a boss, he might be a good choice."
The graduation level for a junior Soul Master Academy was level ten. After reaching level ten, one could enroll in an intermediate Soul Master Academy.
Chen Ming had no intention of following Tang San's example by staying in a junior academy until level twenty-nine, then going to some backwater academy like Shrek. That would be a complete waste of talent. This period was the slowest Tang San would cultivate in his entire life.
One had to know that intermediate Soul Master Academy graduates were only at level twenty, while reaching level thirty was enough to graduate from an advanced academy.
Once Chen Ming obtained his first Spirit Ring, he would begin looking for an intermediate or advanced Soul Master Academy to continue his studies.
Judging by the timeline, even at the slowest pace, it would take no more than a year or so. Under normal circumstances, half a year would be about enough. Chen Ming truly could not be bothered with this sort of thing.
"Really?" Wang Sheng did not suspect a lie. He turned to Tang San, crossed the distance in a few quick strides, and excitedly grabbed Tang San's hand.
"Can you be our boss?"
"Boss?" Tang San looked puzzled. "My Martial Soul is Blue Silver Grass. Is that really okay?"
"Blue Silver Grass? Since when could a useless Martial Soul like Blue Silver Grass produce a Spirit Master?"
Wang Sheng answered bluntly, only to see Tang San's face darken. Tang San stepped forward and directly used Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon to trip Wang Sheng's center of gravity. With a grab and a shove, he sent Wang Sheng, still in Martial Soul Possession, flying like a ball.
"Is this enough?" Tang San hurried over to Wang Sheng, grabbed him by the collar, and asked.
"Enough, enough. More than enough." Wang Sheng spoke with a dazed head after being thrown like a ball. "From today onward, you're Dorm Seven's boss. We Work-Study Students are always bullied by those regular students, so our Dorm Seven..."
Before Wang Sheng could finish explaining, the door opened from outside once more. A little girl skipped in, and as she looked at Chen Ming in Martial Soul Possession and Tang San holding Wang Sheng by the collar, a flash of excitement appeared in her eyes.
"Is this Dorm Seven?" Xiao Wu first circled Chen Ming once, then went to Tang San's side and chattered at Tang San and Wang Sheng.
"This is Dorm Seven. I'm the boss here. Are you a new student?" Tang San looked at Xiao Wu and suddenly became distracted. Though he still did not know what responsibilities Dorm Seven's boss had, he released Wang Sheng's collar and instinctively straightened his chest as he spoke.
"Yes, he just beat me, so he's the boss here." Wang Sheng climbed dazedly from the ground and answered unclearly.
"The one who wins is the boss?" Xiao Wu's eyes widened.
It was her first time in the human world, and she had initially been somewhat wary. But ever since arriving at Dorm Seven, Xiao Wu felt as though she had returned home.
Wasn't this still the same old rule where whoever could win became the boss?
It was just that humans called it... Boss.
"I challenge you!" Xiao Wu flicked her Scorpion Braid and pointed at Tang San.
"Sure." Tang San agreed instinctively, completely unaware of what he had just said.
Next, Chen Ming watched from the side as Tang San, bewitched by Xiao Wu's beauty, gave Xiao Wu an opening and was knocked to the ground in that famous scene.
"Now, I'm the... Boss here. You all have to call me Sister Xiao Wu."
