Background / History

Qian Renxue is a descendant of Martial Soul Hall's Angel Lineage and the granddaughter of Qian Daoliu. Though born with the status of Martial Soul Hall's Young Mistress, she grew up largely unseen by the public. Her mother, Bibi Dong, never acknowledged her and repeatedly wanted to kill her, while her father, Qian Xunji—Martial Soul Hall's former Pope—was affectionate but often absent. Qian Renxue believes he died from wounds sustained after Tang Hao's attack; however, Qian Daoliu knows that Bibi Dong actually killed him and kept silent partly out of consideration for Qian Renxue. The circumstances of her birth also made her position politically sensitive within Martial Soul Hall. 59 118

Seeking to prove herself rather than remain hidden within Martial Soul Hall, Qian Renxue assumed the identity of Heaven Dou Crown Prince Xue Qinghe. Her mission was to infiltrate and ultimately seize control of the declining Heaven Dou Empire, paving the way for Martial Soul Hall to unify the continent as the Martial Soul Empire. By Chapter 117, she had already spent twenty years living under this identity. 117 118

Her prolonged role as Xue Qinghe created an unexpected succession problem. Because the Crown Prince showed no interest in either women or men and had no heir, Emperor Xue Ye began to question his reproductive capability and ordered a medical examination through the Nine Heart Begonia lineage. Qian Renxue could not openly resolve the suspicion without risking exposure. 48

Qian Renxue is disciplined, politically perceptive, and exceptionally committed to maintaining her assumed identity. She also attempts to reform the empire's military, but entrenched military families resist her because her reforms threaten their interests. This leaves her reliant on local forces and smaller military families. 48

Qian Renxue refuses Ye Renxin's physical examination, prompting him to prescribe a Whale Rubber-based medicine instead. Recognizing Whale Rubber's contemporary use as an aphrodisiac, she awkwardly accepts it and hopes to continue muddling through the succession problem without exposing herself. 49

Xue Ye privately recognizes that the deaths of his other princes are connected to Xue Qinghe, but tolerates this because he considers the Crown Prince's ability and charisma sufficient to make him a better ruler than himself. 115

Dragon Turtle Pursuit

As evidence emerges that the Spirit Beasts are strategically destroying major roads and driving lower-class humans away from the northeastern frontier, Qian Renxue becomes wary but visibly excited at the prospect of confronting a Hundred-Thousand-Year Spirit Beast. 169

When the Hundred-Thousand-Year Dragon Turtle appears, she urges Snake Lance Douluo and Pufferfish Douluo to kill it before it can invoke its Heavenly Tribulation. She does not desire its water-attributed Soul Bone for herself, but wants to use it to prove her worth and win Chen Ming's complete support. 177

After the Dragon Turtle ultimately leaves through its sacrifice to Chen Ming, Qian Renxue accepts Chen Ming's explanation that he persuaded it to depart. She experiences regret at losing the Soul Bone but does not suspect the truth. 181

Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud and Commercial Privileges

Chen Ming later visits the Crown Prince's Mansion to request access to the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, a legendary Soul Tool kept in the imperial treasury. Qian Renxue explains its reputed abilities and readily obtains it from the palace. She claims that Xue Qinghe previously tried to gain its recognition, concealing that she had not personally seen it. 241

When the Shroud suddenly pierces Chen Ming's defenses and merges with his skull, Qian Renxue worries about his safety. She notices a power in the artifact resembling, but distinct from, the divine energy associated with the Angel God's statue. After he gains its recognition, she expresses pleasure on his behalf despite knowing that Xue Ye had hoped the attempt would fail and the treasure would return to the treasury. 241 244 245

Chen Ming subsequently shows her his technological advances, including steam power and mass-produced storage Soul Tools. Through Qian Renxue, he obtains legal rights concerning salt production and sales, iron production and mining, and priority consideration for imperial tribute contracts. He gives her a substantial quantity of storage Soul Tools in return. 245 246

The standardized storage Soul Tools astonish her even more than the steam engine. With Soul Tool manufacturing considered a lost art and existing tools largely recovered from ancient ruins, she recognizes the significance of Chen Ming producing them in large quantities; their one-cubic-meter capacity does not diminish their value in her eyes. 246

Disguise Disclosure and Divine Inheritance

After Chen Ming reveals that the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud has connected him with the Sea God's divine sense, Qian Daoliu privately imagines Chen Ming inheriting the Sea God's position and marrying Qian Renxue. In his envisioned future, the two would unite Martial Soul Hall and Sea God Island, attain godhood together, and support one another in the Divine Realm. Neither a marriage agreement nor Qian Renxue's participation in this plan is established. 270

During their later visit to Sea God Island, Chen Ming reassures Qian Daoliu that the Angel God's trials still exist and could allow his granddaughter to inherit her position. Qian Daoliu is stunned that Chen Ming knows about Qian Renxue. Chen Ming then explains that he has met her in Heaven Dou and claims to have seen through her Spirit Bone disguise through his unusual Spiritual Power, while deliberately pretending ignorance. 294 295

The revelation leaves Qian Daoliu embarrassed and uncertain how to discuss the Nation-Stealing Plan. Chen Ming criticizes both its crude execution and its incompatibility with the Angel God's ideals, stressing that divine inheritance requires an appropriate character and worldview. Qian Daoliu remains eager for an opportunity to retrieve his granddaughter from Heaven Dou, but has not persuaded her to return. 296

Tang Hao's Death and the Moonlight Pavilion Raid

Chen Ming visits the Crown Prince's Mansion and reports that Tang Hao attacked him and was killed. Qian Renxue, still unaware that Chen Ming knows her true identity, is shocked that the enemy she associates with her father's death has fallen to someone not yet fourteen. She had expected a difficult personal battle even after becoming a Titled Douluo, and suspects that a hidden expert—possibly one of Chen Ming's elder protectors—must have intervened. 326

Despite her disbelief about how the victory occurred, she accepts Tang Hao's death as fact and immediately escorts Chen Ming to the imperial palace. Xue Ye treats Tang Hao's attack on an imperial official within imperial territory as an affront to his authority, prioritizes the alliance with Martial Soul Hall, and grants Chen Ming command over the empire's forces.
