Background / History

The Grand Void Holy Land was among the dominant powers of the Southern Domain, where the Five Great Holy Lands once divided influence among themselves. It intervened in conflicts between sects when an Immortal Sect War risked drawing surrounding nations into prolonged warfare. Its envoy Ling Qi mediated the conflict between the Phantom Spirit Sect and Nightlight Pavilion, ultimately declaring the Phantom Spirit Sect's actions permissible despite Nightlight Pavilion's objections 55 74.

The Holy Land distributed the Immortal Stepping Stone, an object said to be an incarnation of an Immortal Treasure. Sect recruits were assessed with it to determine their true Immortal Bone grade; stronger Immortal Bones caused stronger reactions. The Grand Void Holy Land was particularly attentive to High-grade Immortal Bones and recruited Zhao Tingxian—despite his Fire Spirit Physique conflicting with the water-attributed Grand Void Scripture—partly to deny Grand Xuan a chance to rise again 55 62 186.

Ling Qi's death triggered a major confrontation with Grand Xuan Holy Land. Grand Void dispatched a False Immortal and two elders to investigate, while False Immortal Zhou Zili later confronted Geng Yiyang over the matter. Geng Yiyang killed Zhou, prompting the Grand Void Holy Lord to mobilize the Grand Void Sword and threaten to raze Grand Xuan 81 87 92.

The Immortal Alliance intervened after the Grand Void Sword's activation caused poisonous mist and civilian casualties across the Fire Domain. The Heavenly Dao's judgment held Grand Void responsible for all resulting losses and ordered it to compensate victims within ten years. Its Holy Lord was additionally punished with a bead of poisonous mist for acting without authorization and implicating innocents 93 94.

After Zhao Tingxian betrayed the Immortal Alliance and fled into the Chaos Sea, the Grand Void Holy Land was searched by Immortal Alliance True Immortals and scrutinized by other holy lands. Any force claiming a clue regarding Zhao was permitted to enter and investigate the Holy Land, leaving its leadership and disciples on constant alert 185.

Inheritance and Influence

Immortal Bone Assessment

The Immortal Stepping Stone allows sects to identify the grade of a cultivator's Immortal Bone during recruitment. Its association with the Grand Void Holy Land gave the Holy Land early awareness of exceptional talents across tens of millions of li 55.

• The Holy Land regarded High-grade Immortal Bones as especially valuable 62.
• Zhao Tingxian, a High-grade Immortal Bone genius of the Zhao Clan, once served as its Holy Son 55.
• Following Zhao Tingxian's departure, the Holy Land did not produce another Holy Son for an extended period 186.

Grand Void Scripture

The Grand Void cultivation method is water-attributed and does not inherently excel in alchemy or artifact forging. As a result, many of the Holy Land's alchemists and artifact refiners were recruited from outside forces 109.

• Miao Luan recited an incomplete version of the Grand Void Scripture to Chu Zheng, extending only to the Profound Connection Realm, in exchange for her life 112.
• The Holy Land's inheritance includes the Grand Abyss Dragon Sword Dance, an eighth-order divine ability later obtained by Chu Zheng through Miao Luan 112 134.

Recruitment of Specialists

When Chu Zheng appeared as an unidentified Alchemy Grandmaster, Miao Luan attempted to recruit him on the Holy Land's behalf. She offered him the position of Grand Elder, status second only to the Holy Lord, and pledged to obtain the spiritual medicines and pill formulas required for his work 109.

Grand Void Sword

The Grand Void Sword is the Holy Land's inherited Immortal Treasure and the treasure that suppresses its fortune. When activated against Grand Xuan, it manifested as an immense azure sword spanning the heavens above the Fire Domain 92 93.

• Immortal Treasures could no longer be freely activated in the Azure Cloud Realm; each use consumed immense resources and generally allowed only one or two strikes 93.
• A single strike retained power comparable to that of a True Immortal and was described as capable of sinking more than half of the Southern Domain 93.
• Its divine radiance fell as rain into Grand Xuan's Sea of Fire, producing poisonous mist that killed and injured countless civilians in nearby mortal kingdoms 93.
• The sword remained a deterrent even after the Holy Land's decline, positioned in the starry sky and able to strike Grand Void territory when necessary 248.

Relationships

• Grand Xuan Holy Land — Long-standing rival. The death of Ling Qi and Zhou Zili escalated their hostility into an Immortal Alliance case; Geng Yiyang later described a ten-thousand-year grudge against Grand Void 87 92 148.
• Immortal Alliance — Overseer and judge. It ruled against Grand Void after the Grand Void Sword incident, punished its Holy Lord, and later authorized broad investigations into Zhao Tingxian's history 93 94 185.
• Zhao Tingxian — Former Holy Son. His Fire Spirit Physique conflicted with the Grand Void Scripture, but he was still accepted; his later betrayal made him the Immortal Alliance's most wanted criminal and brought scrutiny upon the Holy Land 55 186.

Decline and Sealing

Chu Zheng later infiltrated the Grand Void Holy Land while disguised as Bai Zhixiao, using the Holy Lord's memories to bypass the sect-protecting grand array and access the treasury. He emptied the first two treasury levels of cultivation resources, magic treasures, weapons, spirit stones, mineral veins, and spiritual medicines 248.

The theft forced the Holy Land to mobilize its remaining strength, while disciples previously supported by the sect's resources had to search the Azure Cloud Realm for cultivation materials themselves 248 252. A portion of the plundered foundation—described as one-third of Grand Void's resources—was later preserved by Grand Xuan outside its official accounts 307.

By the time of the Southern Domain's later reshaping, three of the original Five Great Holy Lands had been annihilated. Grand Void Holy Land remained extant but had sealed its mountain gates and withdrawn from the world 307.
