Background / History

As Holy Lord of the declining Grand Xuan Holy Land, Geng Yiyang sought to reopen its mountain gate and find an heir to the Blazing Dragon Flame's Fire Seed before his lifespan ran out. He also intended to personally investigate the death of Fang Qiong, recognizing that the killer had to be a Profound Connection Realm expert 81.

He located Chu Zheng through his sensitivity to flame auras, suspecting the Heavenly Star Flame had exposed him. After confronting Chu Zheng over Fang Qiong's death and discovering Senior Ye's legacy, he retrieved the Undying Heavenly Qilin Fire from Senior Ye's remains and chose to spare Chu Zheng 83.

Geng Yiyang subsequently compelled Chu Zheng to represent Grand Xuan in the Myriad Sects Hidden Dragon Competition, while making Chu Zheng's future conditional on his performance. He also resolved to eliminate the Phantom Spirit Sect if the Grand Xuan Divine Fire Scripture had spread beyond its recipient 84 85.

Following his ascension to True Immortal, he relinquished the Holy Lord position to Chu Zheng and passed on Grand Xuan's core inheritance.
