Background / History

Grand Xuan began as the Grand Xuan Sect and became a Holy Land after a True Immortal emerged from its ranks shortly after its mountain was sealed. Its gates remained closed for ten thousand years after the other great holy lands joined forces to suppress it. By the end of that isolation, its younger generation had faded away, leaving fewer than a hundred elderly disciples and elders to preserve its inheritance. 81 107 148

The Holy Land lies in the Fire Domain at the far south of the Southern Domain, amid a vast chain of volcanoes. The region is scorching, sparsely populated, and has few mortal kingdoms. 80 92

Its survival during isolation depended on the legacy of its predecessors: inherited Fire Seeds, the Grand Xuan Divine Fire Scripture, an Immortality Method, and an Immortal Treasure that suppressed its fortune. 81 97

Reopening of the mountain gate

Fang Qiong's death and Holy Lord Geng Yiyang's dwindling lifespan forced Grand Xuan to act. Geng sought a successor capable of inheriting the Blazing Dragon Flame Fire Seed and proposed reopening the mountain gate, despite the risk of challenging the Southern Domain's established balance of power. 81

The decision escalated into open hostility with Grand Void Holy Land after Geng Yiyang killed its False Immortal Zhou Zili. Grand Void answered by mobilizing its sect-suppressing Immortal Treasure, the Grand Void Sword, while the other holy lands jointly condemned Grand Xuan. The Immortal Alliance intervened, and its envoy ultimately ruled in Grand Xuan's favor under the Heavenly Dao's judgment. 92 93

Grand Xuan formally reopened its gates ten thousand years after sealing them, drawing more than a million cultivators to its entrance. Unlike other holy lands, it accepted candidates regardless of Immortal Bone grade. 106

Revival under Chu Zheng

Chu Zheng's emergence as a cultivator compatible with the Grand Xuan Divine Fire Scripture transformed the Holy Land's prospects. The sect regarded him as more valuable than a Super-grade Immortal Bone, believing he could extend Grand Xuan's lifeline and restore its strength. 107

After Chu Zheng defeated more than two hundred Soul Condensation cultivators in the Immortal Martial Battlefield, smaller sects began seeking alliance with Grand Xuan and relocating into its sphere of influence. The barren lands around the Holy Land rapidly developed into a growing cultivation center. 125

Geng Yiyang recognized Chu Zheng's Super-grade Immortal Bone aptitude and publicly welcomed him back as Grand Xuan's Holy Son. Chu Zheng later declined the permanent Holy Son position but remained True Inheritance Chief until reaching the Profound Passage Realm. 126 127

Chu Zheng ultimately succeeded Geng Yiyang as the 759th Holy Lord of Grand Xuan. His succession faced no internal resistance, as the disciples considered it natural for the Holy Son to inherit the position. 155 207

Demotion and survival

Grand Xuan was implicated after the Azure Cloud Immortal Lord's defection from the Immortal Alliance. Although the investigation found no conclusive evidence against the Holy Land and its members had military merits from fighting beyond the realm, the Immortal Alliance confiscated most of its cultivation resources, Immortal Treasures, and inherited Flame Seeds.
