Hope dared not leave immediately.

He observed the the Whateley family house with an almost fearful expression, waiting for any movement inside.

He was worried that if he escaped, the Transparent Monster Transparent Monster, now without its guard, would go out of control, so he waited there to observe its reaction.

An unsettling surging and lapping sound emanated from the large house, like seawater crashing on a beach, but not quite the same; it was mixed with some even stranger noises.

Splash, splash----

Interspersed among them were one or two inhuman screams, but the screams did not travel far, and by the time they reached Hope, they were too faint to be heard.

Hope knew it was that guy who was getting agitated.

He made no move, continuing to wait quietly. The sound alone wouldn't even wake Lavinia, who was fast asleep.

Hope was really worried about was what kind of liquid might seep out from somewhere in the house.

He never saw such a scene.

About a minute later, all the sounds subsided, and the bird calls and insect chirps that had stopped because of the Transparent Monster gradually resumed.

Hope breathed a sigh of relief, her heartbeat slowing down.

He soon discovered something that wasn't originally in the storeroom: a small, lit candle.

The light was dim, but in the darkness, it was so bright that Hope couldn't ignore it.

He soon realized that the candle had been lit for him—a piece of paper was weighed down by a pebble next to the candle.

It's not hard to guess the purpose of this candle:

Worried that people with albinism won't be able to leave messages----

Remove the stones and Hope looked at the paper below.

It was just a short sentence. "Heading to Paul Corey's house."

Hope looked around again. Dr. Morgan must have guessed from the surrounding things that Hope had lived here before, and then guessed that he would come here first.

But why did he choose to leave a note instead of saying it directly?

Is he worried about being overheard? -- But he's already mentioned Paul's name. If someone is really eavesdropping, Corey's house isn't a good location.

Hmm— Dr. Morgan didn't seem to mention any specific location in the conversation either—

Hope burned the note on the candle.

He came up with a guess:

The Transparent Monster made Dr. Morgan nervous, and this nervousness led him to be cautious about the location—for reasons unknown.

Hope closed her eyes and located Corey's living room.

He regretfully discovered that it was not a suitable location for teleportation; Dr. Morgan and his colleagues were probably sitting there talking.

The "Uncertainty" target location changed, Hope appeared behind the boulder near Corey's house.

Then I walked towards the house over there.

Even though he walked almost silently, the people inside the house still spotted him, and opened the door when he was still quite a distance away.

Hope heard a soft cheer, which reminded him of his first visit to Corey's house.

Someone ran out, but this time it wasn't the short, bespectacled young man; it was Paul, who helped Hope.

"You look pretty good," Paul said.

"Anyway, Lavinia hasn't skimped on my meals—it just takes a little prompting sometimes."

Hope certainly didn't need assistance; Paul was acting as a guide for the blind.

He saw everyone in the house clearly: Dr. Morgan, Elizabeth, and Mr. Sawyer Walter.

Mr. Sawyer — Hope couldn't tell if the old gentleman's gaze was one of displeasure or annoyance, but it certainly didn't seem like a pleasant one—

The day of Corey's parents' funeral was also an example; he disliked the Whateley House.

"Professor Armitage asked me to give you his regards," Hope said.

Mr. Sawyer glanced at Dr. Morgan.

Dr. Morgan said, "Professor Armitage has spoken with Hope several times, and he speaks highly of Hope."

"When the professor first learned that I was from Dunwich, he greeted Mr. Sawyer," Hope added.

The tall, thin old man nodded, his gaze towards Hope finally softening.

Behind the old man is Elizabeth.

Hope reached out and returned the Wooden Amulet and the silver pocket watch to Elizabeth.

"You can stay," Elizabeth said.

"I guess I won't need it anymore," Hope said, looking at Dr. Morgan.

The doctor shrugged. "If nothing unexpected happens, we might be able to resolve everything before dawn tomorrow."

Everyone settled down on Paul's sofa.

"What are you going to do now?" Hope asked.

"Do you know what's on Sentinel Hill?" Dr. Morgan countered.

"Those big rocks?"

"Yes, I'd like to know what it's used for."

"Hmm—" Hope recalled the night the campfire was lit, "Wilbur would arrange the Wood on the disc in a specific way, light it, and then he would recite hymns from the Necronomicon, and then—"

"Stop!" Dr. Morgan suddenly interrupted, "Are you trying to say the name of God?"

"----It's just a title."

"Just use ' God ' instead, don't even mention it to us as a title."

"What will happen?" Hope, puzzled.

"It's just a precaution," Dr. Morgan said. "Most of the time there's no problem, but if God wants to, He can do things that nobody wants to see through the titles uttered by believers."

"I'm not a believer," Hope silently defended herself in her heart.

But he was disappointed to find that he was actually closer to God than the believers.

Hope exhaled and continued, "According to Wilbur, the thing that descended was a phantom of God."

After he finished speaking, Dr. Morgan's gaze suddenly shifted.

Hope followed his gaze.

That appears to be Paul's parents' Bedroom.

"Elizabeth," Dr. Morgan said, "Could you please give Nancy the other half of the sedative?"

Elizabeth nodded.

But after taking only a few steps, she looked back. "So much—won't there be any side effects?"

"Yes, she will." Dr. Morgan nodded. "But don't worry, at most she'll just have a headache for a few days. We have other things to do, so we can't let her wake up."

Elizabeth did not refuse.

"Did you find Nancy at Sentinel Hill?" Hope asked.

"Yes," Dr. Morgan said.

She still went.

Dr. Morgan stopped talking about Nancy; whatever Wilbur did to Nancy was clearly not the point now.

The doctor looked at Paul and Mr. Sawyer: "What we need to do next is to break the rocks on Sentinel Hill."

"With a pickaxe?" Hope asked.

Dr. Morgan shook his head.

Mr. Sawyer laughed heartily and answered Hope's question, "I still have a lot of explosives hidden on my farm. They're all good stuff, and although they've been stored for a while, they're still usable."
