Background / History

Killua was raised by the Zoldyck Family as an exceptionally gifted child and prospective heir. His family began advancing his training early, sending him to Keli City and the Heavenly Arena at age six. Although he already knew of Nen through his upbringing, he was surprised by how completely Nen users and adventurers dominated the city and arena. 193 237

Illumi placed a Nen Needle in Killua with Silva's approval. The needle suppressed Killua's memories of Alluka and created an instinctive urge to flee from powerful opponents. 241 370 371

While in Keli City, Killua witnessed Teren's summoning ritual and became entangled in the Holy Grail War. He offered to assist Teren in return for Nen instruction, beginning the training that led to his Nen awakening. 239 241 250

His progress through the Heavenly Arena was far slower than he expected. He struggled against the concentration of Nen users, ability matchups, and his still-developing body, but eventually reached the 200th floor at nine years old. 237 252

Killua is confident in his own talent, having been repeatedly praised by his family, but the Heavenly Arena forces him to recognize the gap between natural ability and experienced Nen users. 237 252

He is curious and observant. He quietly watches unfamiliar Nen phenomena, asks direct questions about other worlds and abilities, and is willing to reassess his assumptions after encountering something beyond his experience. 238 255

Keli City and the Heavenly Arena

Killua arrives in Keli City at six years old to train in the Heavenly Arena. After initially losing to Nen users, he adapts through Nen instruction, gravity training, Nen cooking, martial-arts techniques, and repeated arena matches. He reaches the 200th floor at nine and becomes a recognized young competitor. 237 250 252

Parallel-World Crossing

Lu Qi sends Killua to another world through Dragon Vein power immediately after he reaches the 200th floor. There, Killua meets a younger counterpart, Gon, Wing, and Zushi; he explains the more advanced Nen culture of his own world and accepts Hisoka's challenge. 252 255 256 262

Killua's match with Hisoka reveals both the usefulness and limits of his current arsenal. His Divine Script outfit counters Bungee Gum, but Hisoka eventually binds him, wins by points, and takes Killua's short blade. Killua is hospitalized with serious arm injuries before receiving the blade back through his counterpart's decision. 258 260 261

Yorknew City Conflict

After returning to his own world, Killua resists being pulled back into family work and continues pursuing his own path. He shares information about the Phantom Troupe, the Six Styles, Lu Qi, and the altered Heavenly Arena with Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio. 286 300

During the Yorknew conflict, Killua assists Kurapika's group against Chrollo. His electromagnetic Nen locates and strikes Chrollo, while his speed and blade work cut through Chrollo's Nen Beasts and contribute to Chrollo's decision to retreat. 312

Chimera Ant Conflict

Killua accompanies Gon in response to Kite's disappearance and the Chimera Ant threat. He recognizes that the enemy includes Nen users and remains committed to the subjugation mission after Lu Qi removes Gon's harmful Nen effect. 353 379

In NGL, Killua fights multiple Chimera Ants and Squadron Leaders, using Geppo, Six Styles, lightning, and Divine Script items to survive. He kills numerous Ants, escapes Cheetu's artificial space, and later joins Kite against Neferpitou. 384 390 391 395

Removal of the Nen Needle

Illumi removes Killua's Nen Needle after locating him in another world. The removal restores Killua's memories of Alluka and reveals that his urge to flee from powerful enemies was imposed rather than a natural combat instinct. 370 371
