Background

Jia Xingtian served as the Jia Ma Empire’s guardian during a precarious period. He regarded the empire as vulnerable: stronger neighboring states possessed Dou Zong-level strength, the Imperial Family’s guardian beast was ailing, and he believed his own death without a successor at the Dou Zong realm could invite the empire’s partition 76.

Already old and frail at the Peak Dou Emperor realm, he sought a Break-Ancestor Pill to gain a chance at breaking through to Dou Zong. Gu He’s inability to refine it left Jia Xingtian frustrated, as the required medicinal ingredients had been difficult to gather 73.

Story Role

Conflict with the Mite'er Family and Mu Clan

When Hai Bodong moved against Mu Chen, Jia Xingtian intervened as an imperial representative. Though he recognized that Mu Zhan had likely provoked the incident and doubted much of Mu Chen’s account, he prioritized the Mu Clan’s military and political importance. He ordered the Mite'er Family to compensate Mu Chen, partly to restrain the family’s growing influence 74.

This decision placed him against the masked Yan Xiao. After Yan Xiao was revealed as a Sixth-Rank Alchemist capable of refining pills such as the Imperial Extreme Pill—and potentially the Break-Ancestor Pill—Jia Xingtian immediately recognized the magnitude of his mistake. He regretted offending an alchemist who might have secured the Imperial Family’s future 75 76.

Transaction with Yan Xiao

Seeking reconciliation, Jia Xingtian provided a broker’s fee through the Mite'er Family and arranged a meeting with Yan Xiao. He offered information on the Nether Poison Flame in exchange for assistance with a Break-Ancestor Pill 79 80.

The two reached an agreement: Xiao Yan would refine a Break-Ancestor Pill and a Primordial Bone Shaping Pill, while the Imperial Family would provide high-grade fire-attributed treasures, magical-beast heartblood essence, Beast Flames, and information about the Nether Poison Flame. Jia Xingtian also permitted Xiao Yan to obtain resources from the Imperial Family’s Tier 6 Nether Sea Flood Dragon 81.

He later delivered the promised Earth Flame Fruit, Dry Blue Water Flame, Nether Sea Flood Dragon heartblood, and additional high-grade medicinal ingredients 90.

Breakthrough and Alliance with Xiao Yan

Jia Xingtian successfully advanced to Dou Zong using Xiao Yan’s Break-Ancestor Pill. In gratitude, he promised to fulfill reasonable requests from Yan Xiao 107.

Initially reluctant to risk a conflict with the Misty Cloud Sect and Yun Shan, Jia Xingtian changed his position after Yan Xiao revealed that he was actually Xiao Yan of the Xiao Clan: a teenager who was both a Dou Emperor and Seventh-Rank Alchemist. Viewing Xiao Yan as an extraordinary investment, Jia Xingtian committed to joining the attack on the Misty Cloud Sect 108.

During the confrontation, he accepted responsibility for holding Yun Shan back. His presence forced Yun Shan to acknowledge that a direct fight would be dangerous, especially because Yun Shan’s secret-method breakthrough had left him weaker than an ordinary Dou Zong 110.

Continued Support

After the Misty Cloud Sect affair, Jia Xingtian sent Xiao Yan most of the Imperial Family’s accumulated medicinal ingredients, effectively placing the Imperial Family within Xiao Yan’s sphere of influence 115.

He remained in the Jia Ma Empire rather than accompany Xiao Yan to the Black-Corner Region. As a one-star Dou Zong, he was needed to guard the empire against threats from neighboring powers, making the Jia Ma Empire a secure base for Xiao Yan’s forces 140.

Later, he visited Yan City with Fama, Yun Shan, Mittel Teng Shan, and Xiao Zhan for the Vientiane Auction. By then, the Jia Ma Empire had escaped its former isolation, aided by Xiao Yan’s protection and the Snake-People Empire’s friendly relations 194 197.

Personality

Jia Xingtian is cautious, politically minded, and deeply concerned with the Jia Ma Empire’s survival. His first instinct is to preserve the existing balance of power, even when that means protecting the Mu Clan or avoiding a potentially damaging battle 74 77.

His caution can become short-sighted. He initially undervalued Yan Xiao and sided with the Mu Clan, but quickly reassessed his stance once Xiao Yan’s alchemical ability and potential became clear. His later choices—supplying resources, seeking cooperation, and supporting Xiao Yan against the Misty Cloud Sect—show a willingness to decisively invest when he recognizes a greater opportunity 75 108.
