Background / History
Grian was a veteran Paladin of the Order of the Silver Hand who fought in Lordaeron during the campaign against the Scourge. Exhausted by war, he returned to his hometown of Moonbrook intending to live quietly rather than invoke his former status or honors. 11
When the Defias Brotherhood occupied Moonbrook and destabilized Westfall, Grian initially hoped Stormwind or Westbrook Garrison would intervene. After two months without aid, the 59-year-old Paladin organized farmers, retired veterans, and volunteers into the People's Militia. 12
Under Grian's command, the militia held Sentinel Hill and dealt the Defias Brotherhood a major defeat. He later planned to eliminate the Brotherhood's leader, VanCleef. 12
Personality
Grian is an effective and persevering commander who can unite desperate civilians into a fighting force. His leadership and battlefield direction raise his soldiers' morale, while his strategic ambushes compensate for the militia's limited strength. 12 43
Behind his heroic public image, Grian is highly pragmatic, manipulative, and willing to bargain aggressively. He attempts to pressure merchants for discounts, uses fabricated emotional stories to persuade Shawn, and openly seeks profit from arrangements that benefit Sentinel Hill. 26 41 42 49
Despite these tactics, Grian is sincerely invested in Westfall's security. His negotiations, recruitment efforts, and defensive construction all stem from his belief that Westfall must be prepared for the Defias Brotherhood and wider threats to Stormwind. 42 44 49 50

Investigation of Jangolode Mine

War Against the Kobolds and Murlocs

Sentinel Hill Expansion
Following the campaign, Grian agrees to send militia members to construct Shawn's Mage Tower, positioning it between Sentinel Hill and Saldean Farm so both sides can support one another against the Defias Brotherhood. 44

Stormwind Crisis
When Shawn warns him of threats surrounding Stormwind City, Grian treats the city's survival as essential to humanity, calling it the last pillar of the human kingdoms. 50
