After Su Yu demonstrates his Gentle Fist ability to Hiashi, Hiashi permits him to instruct Hinata. Hinata regards Su Yu as a taijutsu teacher and earnestly studies the guidance he gives her. 8

Confession and Relationship with Su Yu

Following Su Yu's Land of Waves mission, Hinata shows measurable improvement in taijutsu. During an outing with him, she chooses not to pursue Naruto any longer and later directly confesses that she likes Su Yu. 12

Su Yu says that he reciprocates her feelings but cannot formally accept her confession yet, citing reasons she may later fear or hate. Hinata remains patient, continues training with him, and grows closer to him. 13 16
