Background

Naruto grew up as an orphan in Konoha while his parentage remained secret: his father, Minato Namikaze, was the Fourth Hokage, and both Minato and Kushina Uzumaki died protecting the village. Because the villagers knew only that Naruto contained the Nine-Tails, many treated him as a monster rather than the child of Konoha's heroes. 2 22

Iruka Umino became one of Naruto's first genuine supporters, treating him as a younger brother. Naruto later reflects on Iruka's care after failing his graduation exam and being deceived by Mizuki into stealing the Scroll of Seals. 16 28

Personality

Naruto is impulsive and prone to acting before thinking, as shown when he immediately attempts to steal the Scroll of Seals after Mizuki tells him it could help him graduate. However, he is capable of reflection and comes to understand Iruka's reasons for initially failing him. 28
