Background

Konoha is the ninja village of the Land of Fire. Among the five great ninja villages, it is regarded as the strongest, and its country is described as having the best environment and resources of the five great nations 2.

The village was established when Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha led Tenin Hyuga and several other powerful clans in founding a shared settlement. Hashirama was subsequently elected First Hokage by the clan heads 12. The Senju and Uchiha are also identified as Konoha's founding clans 171.

Major clans

• Hyuga Clan — An ancient founding-era clan whose Byakugan is one of the Three Great Dōjutsu. Following the Uchiha clan's destruction, the Hyuga became Konoha's foremost noble family 2 97.
• Uchiha Clan — A founding clan that once operated Konoha's Military Police Force before its annihilation 17.
• Senju Clan — A founding clan whose leaders Hashirama and Tobirama both served as Hokage 52.
• Other represented clans — The Yamanaka, Aburame, Akimichi, Inuzuka, Nara, Sarutobi, Shiranui, and Kurama clans all maintain representation among Konoha's clan leadership 97.

Administration and Institutions

The Shiranui clan maintains its own specialized ninja system. Certified Shiranui clan members may become genin without attending Konoha's Ninja Academy, unlike children from the village's other clans 25.

Major Events

Uchiha Clan Annihilation

Following the Nine-Tails Incident, the Uchiha clan was annihilated in the “Great Konoha Incident.” Itachi Uchiha was publicly identified as the sole perpetrator, while the event was orchestrated by Shimura Danzō amid the conflict between the Uchiha and Konoha's leadership 17.

Orochimaru's Assault and Tsunade's Succession

Orochimaru infiltrated the Chunin Exams under the identity of the Fourth Kazekage and launched an assault on Konoha with Sunagakure and Sound Village forces 88 91. The attack caused substantial casualties, including Third Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen, whose death was commemorated at the Konoha Memorial Stone 97.

After the attack, Tsunade was formally appointed Fifth Hokage with support from Konoha's major clans, including the Hyuga 97. Her administration dissolved Root and began filling key village posts 98.

Akatsuki Invasion

The Six Paths of Pain and Konan infiltrated Konoha after Animal Path Pain broke through the village barrier from above, allowing the remaining attackers to enter 180. The invaders spread throughout the village, causing widespread destruction while searching for Uzumaki Naruto 181.

Konoha suffered heavy civilian and shinobi casualties. Naruto and Hyuga Kamizuki emerged as the village's two heroes after the attack, while the surviving population began rescue, recovery, and reconstruction work 203.

Fourth Shinobi World War Mobilization

Following the Five Kage Summit, Konoha joined Kumogakure, Kirigakure, Iwagakure, and Sunagakure in forming the Allied Shinobi Forces against Akatsuki 215. Tsunade returned to Konoha and rallied its shinobi for the war effort 216.

Konoha's Hyuga Kamizuki was assigned command of the Allied Forces' Medical and Logistics Division, overseeing medical support and battlefield logistics alongside shinobi such as Haruno Sakura 216.
