Background / History

Fu was made the jinchuriki of Chōmei, the Seven-Tails, by Takigakure. Her mother, the Takikage, states that the decision was made only because there had been no other option. Fu and Chōmei gradually became companions through their shared lack of freedom. 28 29

As a child, Fu befriended Yato and showed him a partial Tailed Beast transformation. His terrified reaction convinced her that others would see her as a monster. Although the Takikage later sealed and altered Yato's memories to preserve their friendship, Fu detected the interference through Chōmei and withdrew from Yato and other children altogether. 28

During Kakuzu's assault on Takigakure, Fu protected Ye Wuji and confronted Kakuzu herself. She relied on Tailed Beast Mode and prior intelligence on Kakuzu to hold him off, but was left exhausted and admitted she could not have maintained control of Chōmei in a prolonged battle. Afterwards, Chōmei agreed to teach her more, recognizing her as an unusually compatible jinchuriki. 27 28

The Takikage concluded that Kakuzu's true target had been Fu or the Seven-Tails. Fu was confined to the village under Anbu protection, with preparations made to send her and Mai to Sunagakure under another identity. 28 29

Fu later took over Ye Wuji's surveillance and began training him. Over nearly a month, she taught him combat awareness, anatomy, taijutsu, chakra theory, and Water Style techniques. She is strict, blunt, and physically demanding as a teacher. Her training of Ye Wuji emphasizes vigilance, vulnerable body parts, silent killing, and reacting properly in combat; she repeatedly beats him to break habits she considers dangerous. Despite this severity, she enjoys teaching him and is visibly happy when he improves. 31 32
