Background / History

Yao Yan was raised in the Yao Clan after both of his parents died. At age twelve, his Rank 3 Bloodline marked him as a branch-line descendant rather than a core clan member, though his alchemy talent earned notice from the clan school. Outwardly disappointed by the result, he privately regarded it as expected and focused on acquiring enough strength to shape his own future. He was also aware that he had transmigrated into this world. 1

He cultivated the Three Flowers Gather Fire Skill, a low-grade technique capable of nourishing Essence, Qi, and Spirit with spiritual energy. Yao Nong became an important early mentor, providing cultivation resources, Beast Flame, and several fire-attribute Dou Techniques. 2 8 10

Yao Yan later revealed that his mother came from the Yao Clan and his father from the Soul Clan. His father had been placed in the Yao Clan as one of Hun Xuzi's pawns; after Yao Yan became an orphan, Hun Xuzi accepted him as a disciple and eventually brought him back to the Soul Clan. 345 417
