Danzō's Fury

"Where are you going, Kushina?"

Mikoto asked as she watched Kushina head for the door.

"Mikoto, I have something to discuss with Shin. You should get some rest." After Mikoto called out to her, Kushina's body trembled slightly before she answered calmly.

"No, you can't."

Mikoto suddenly stepped in front of Kushina and shook her head.

"Tsunade-sensei told me to keep an eye on you and make sure you don't go wandering around at night—especially not over to Shin's place."

Hearing that, Kushina couldn't help grinding her teeth. Tsunade was awful, and so was Mikoto. Just as awful.

In the end, Kushina never made it to Shin's room. Mikoto kept her under watch, leaving Kushina furious.

The next day, Shin got up early, but someone had beaten him to it.

"Morning, Mikoto."

Shin greeted her.

"You're already up, Shin. I'll go make breakfast," Mikoto said.

"Don't. Let's wait until Tsunade and Kushina get up. Who knows when they'll wake? Those two are so lazy."

"When you're talking about people behind their backs, you should probably check your surroundings first."

Tsunade's cool voice rang out.

"Shin, did I just hear you say I'm lazy?" Kushina gazed at him reproachfully.

Shin was speechless. Had the sun risen in the west today? Why were those two up so early?

"Ahem. I'm going to practice my swordsmanship. If I skip a day, I'll get rusty. Farewell."

Shin found an excuse to slip away, using Yomotsu Hirasaka to make his escape. Even Tsunade couldn't catch him.

Half an hour later, Shin returned for breakfast. Seeing Tsunade and Kushina glaring at him, he decided he needed to change the subject.

"Tsunade, should we go take a mission today?" Shin asked.

"You three can decide. If you want to go on a mission, then go. If not, I can take it easy and slack off for once."

Shin, Kushina, and Mikoto exchanged glances. Then Kushina and Mikoto looked to Shin.

It was up to Shin. If he said they should take a mission, they would; they would follow his lead.

Shin thought for a moment, then asked Tsunade, "Can we get a B-Rank Mission?"

They could hardly ever run into other ninja on C-Rank Missions, and Kushina and Mikoto needed to fight real ninja to gain combat experience.

The same went for Shin, but he needed opponents who could match him to make any difference.

The problem was, it was hard to find anyone who could fight him evenly. He could kill Elite Jonin as easily as chopping vegetables, and Quasi-Kage were probably no different. He'd need someone at Kage Level to give him a real fight.

A ten-year-old at Kage Level—he'd probably set a record in the Shinobi World. Anyway, Shin didn't believe anyone else could be as strong as he was at ten. After all, he had a cheat on his side. Even the Six Paths brothers couldn't have matched him at ten, right?

"A B-Rank Mission? That's impossible. The Third Hokage would never let me take one. Even that C-Rank Mission we did before was an exception."

Tsunade shook her head. Shin and the others had only just graduated as Genin. Even getting a C-Rank Mission had been thanks to Tsunade's standing.

"In that case, we might as well stay in Konoha and train."

Shin decided against taking a mission. He wasn't short on money, so there was no point doing a mission that wouldn't help them.

At the Root base in Konoha, Danzo's face was frighteningly grim.

"You're saying Tsunade and those three brats came back yesterday?"

"Yes, Lord Danzo. They returned after completing their mission."

"What about Dan Katō? Have you heard anything from him?" Danzo was furious. He had sent out such a powerful force, yet Tsunade had returned, and the brat called Uzumaki Shin hadn't been captured either.

"They haven't sent word, and they haven't returned."

The anger vanished from Danzo's face, replaced by a furrowed brow. He had sent them to kill Tsunade. She had come back, but they hadn't—not even a single message. Something had definitely happened.

"Investigate it. Make sure Sarutobi Hiruzen doesn't find out," Danzo told the Root ninja standing before him.

After the ninja left, Danzo slammed his hand on the desk. His anger surged, and he could no longer hold it back.

Three Elite Jonin and three Jonin had suddenly gone silent. How could Danzo possibly stay calm?

"Sarutobi Hiruzen, I hope you had nothing to do with this." A cold glint flashed in Danzo's eyes. He suspected Hiruzen was deeply involved.

If Tsunade had been alone, Danzo would have believed she was dead. That was why he suspected Hiruzen had something to do with it.

Perhaps Hiruzen had discovered what he was up to.

Danzo never suspected Shin. After all, Shin was only ten years old. Who would think he was powerful?

So Danzo suspected Sarutobi Hiruzen, convinced that Hiruzen had stepped in and ruined his plan. Resentment stirred in Danzo's heart.

Shin had no idea Danzo suspected him. If he had, he probably would have laughed himself silly.

Let Danzo and the Third Hokage turn on each other. Come to think of it, neither the Third Hokage nor Danzo was any good.

Shin and the others were training, with Tsunade overseeing them.

But Tsunade was guiding Kushina and Mikoto. As for Shin, Tsunade said she couldn't teach him. He was already stronger than she was, so what could she possibly teach him?

"Wind Style: Rasenshuriken!"

Shin hurled the Rasenshuriken in his hand. It struck a wooden post and erupted instantly, wiping it out completely. Not even splinters remained.

A crater about fifty meters across opened in the ground. The chakra storm was still raging, and anyone who went near it would still get hurt.

"I finally got it to work perfectly."

Shin said with satisfaction. He had sent out several thousand Shadow Clones to study it, and at last he had perfected Wind Style: Rasenshuriken.

Rasenshuriken was a jutsu developed by the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, from the Rasengan. It was incredibly powerful, but it had flaws.

It was unstable, required close-range attacks, and had the side effect of causing internal injuries to the user. It had been classified as an S-Rank forbidden technique.

But those flaws only existed before the jutsu was fully developed. In the original story, after Naruto Uzumaki learned Sage Mode, he perfected the jutsu and overcame its side effects while in Sage Mode.

Shin didn't have Sage Mode, but that didn't matter. He could still perfect the Rasenshuriken completely.

The hard part about the Rasenshuriken was keeping it stable. As long as it was stable enough and he had sufficient control, how could a jutsu he used hurt him?

Shin's Rasenshuriken immediately drew Tsunade and the others' attention.

"What is that jutsu?" Tsunade asked in shock.

"I developed it myself. I added Wind Release chakra to the Rasengan and changed its nature, and this jutsu came out of it. Not bad, right?" Shin said with a grin.

Tsunade didn't know what to say. At a glance, this jutsu seemed to be S-Rank, and Shin had developed it himself. Tsunade felt crushed. You're so ridiculously talented—how are ordinary ninja like us supposed to live?
