Background

Gu Yue split away the emotional part of herself to create Na'er, retaining their shared memories while becoming markedly more rational. She allocated Na'er thirty percent of their power and kept the greater share for her own goal: reviving the Soul Beast race. She chose to remain in Eastsea City to observe Su Chen and integrate into human society, initially viewing him as an ordinary but overly flirtatious human genius. 30 41

After taking human form, Gu Yue had to cultivate again from the beginning. Her sealed origin power gradually converted into cultivation, explaining her rapid growth, but she refused to force it beyond Level 25 early on because doing so would weaken her potential. 37

Leng Yaozhu accepted Gu Yue as her second disciple, placing her under the same master as Su Chen. Gu Yue joined Class One, challenged Su Chen during her assessment, and was appointed vice-class monitor after demonstrating her elemental talent. 40 41

Personality

Gu Yue is intensely competitive and dislikes being considered inferior, particularly beside Su Chen. She openly declared that she would surpass him and become his senior sister, and she repeatedly seeks sparring matches or opportunities to test her growth against stronger opponents. 37 62 167

Her initial approach to Su Chen was calculating: she intended to investigate his secrets while judging whether Na'er's faith in him was misplaced. Over time, however, his support, protection, and willingness to strengthen her caused that distance to erode. Gu Yue becomes emotionally invested in him, prone to jealousy, sulking, and embarrassment, while still struggling with the potential conflict between humanity and Soul Beasts. 41 80 83 252

Despite her sharp tongue and destructive combat style, Gu Yue is not portrayed as malicious. Su Chen notes that she causes trouble through her temper and lack of restraint rather than a desire to harm others. 43
