Background

At six, Su Chen awakened the Su Family’s inherited Soul Suppressing Pagoda with Innate Soul Power level 6. At the same time, he awakened the Goddess Illustrated Handbook, a camera-like system that rewards him for recording qualified targets. By age seven, he had reached level 11 and possessed a century-old Spirit Soul. 1

After taking Na'er into his care, Su Chen fused with the origin-grade Void Chrono Dragon Martial Soul. The fusion dramatically improved his attributes and gave him innate spatial and temporal abilities. He later brought Na'er from Red Mountain City to Eastsea City, where Yu Yao welcomed her into the Su household. 3 4

Su Chen entered blacksmithing early and completed Thousand-Refined Deep Silver at age seven. The feat impressed Blacksmith Association president Mu Chen, who accepted him as a personal disciple. 8

Su Chen displayed unusual intelligence well before awakening his Martial Soul. He began learning the family business at three, and within two years the assets under his control exceeded those managed by his uncles. His father, Su Yaotian, was the Su Family patriarch, while Yu Yao was one of his father’s more than twenty concubines. The extended clan numbered more than three hundred siblings and cousins; although influential, it was only a second-rate family within Eastsea City. 1 4

Before bringing Na'er home, Su Chen spent half a year in Red Mountain City as a young law enforcer, reportedly solving numerous cold cases and earning a reputation for mild manners. He had deliberately interrupted his primary-academy education to search for Na'er and already knew her identity as the transformed Silver Dragon King, though he concealed that knowledge from her. His thoughts also demonstrate familiarity with the original story and memories of a previous life. 1 4 5 27

He later delayed entering Eastsea Academy for a year to wait for Gu Yue. Dean Yu Zhen had already courted him with gifts and special privileges, including freedom to choose his school year, while Su Chen declined recruitment attempts from other academies in the Skysea Alliance. 30

Appearance

Xu Xiaoyan considers Su Chen notably handsome. 124 His most distinctive visual traits appear during Void Chrono Dragon possession:

• An ancient dragon aura that distorts the surrounding space. 4

The Void Chrono Dragon fusion also accelerated his physical development: within a month, he had become noticeably taller and sturdier, standing more than a head above Na'er. 6

Personality

Su Chen is pragmatic and risk-conscious. Despite possessing powerful assassination-oriented abilities, he prefers overwhelming opponents from a higher realm rather than gambling on dangerous fights against stronger enemies. 26 He also plans long-term, weighing potential Spirit Souls and resources before acting. 126

He devotes far more enthusiasm to forging, Battle Armor, Mecha, and other secondary professions than to long cultivation sessions, which he finds monotonous. 27 Even so, he deliberately conceals much of his strength when it would alienate classmates or attract unwanted attention. 69 240

In combat, Su Chen is protective of companions but ruthless toward enemies. He safeguarded Mu Xi and Ouyang Zixin in the Spirit Ascension Platform, yet eliminated Xu Xiaoyu’s group within the platform’s simulation without hesitation and later used the Soul-Seizing Plaque to kill Qiangu Dongfeng and his son. 15 16 183

As his strength grew, Su Chen became more willing to test himself against powerful opponents: after stealing Eternal Heaven, he deliberately let its alarm sound to draw out Chen Xinjie and test his new Dharma Aspect. 198

Su Chen is openly flirtatious and interested in maintaining multiple romantic relationships. He told Na'er that his dream was to follow his father’s example and marry many wives, but agreed that he would obey her if she became strong enough to defeat him. His fondness for attractive women is frequently noticed and teased by his companions. 21 25 132

He values practical increases to his combat ceiling over accumulating elaborate techniques. He considers the combination of Time Stop and overwhelming physical strength more useful than a large collection of redundant Soul Skills, and regards further Sword Dao training as comparatively inefficient beside his Martial Soul and Astral Tyrant Body. Nevertheless, he respects Ye Xinglan’s perseverance and supports her training. 85 162 174 365

Su Chen believes that sufficient strength can resolve the conflict between humans and Soul Beasts. When considering Na'er’s responsibilities, he contemplated finding the Soul Beasts a separate world in which to live rather than allowing their conflict with humanity to separate them. 29
