Xu Xiao maintains restrictions against recruiting people from hostile factions before unification. The academy is intended to relax those requirements only after unification, so talent and personal character do not automatically override political affiliation. 376

Chuan Ling's leadership also rejects opportunistic attempts to switch sides after hostile factions have already committed against it. Ning Fengzhi and numerous alliance members would prefer to join, but their exclusion helps keep them dependent on Martial Soul Hall. 242 246 259

Chuan Ling operates independently of Martial Soul Hall and openly refuses its recruitment attempts. 97

Its emergence destabilizes the existing balance among Martial Soul Hall, the Clear Sky Sect, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and the two empires. Several factions consider provoking or uniting against Chuan Ling because its strength and origins remain unknown. 137 139 240

After taking control of political forces associated with the Kong and Chen families, Xu Xiao orders the establishment of the Chuan Ling Imperial Dynasty, using the era name Zhengde. He also decrees free martial soul awakening across the continent. 164

Chuan Ling's growth prompts Martial Soul Hall, the Heaven Dou Imperial Family, Star Luo's Zhu Family, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and other powers to consolidate against it. Qian Daoliu acknowledges that Chuan Ling's known forces include Chen Jianjun, Zi Ji, Xu Xiao, and the other hidden Spirit Lords, whose full strength remains unclear. 239 240

Sea God Island's allegiance expands Chuan Ling's maritime position and weakens Martial Soul Hall's attempts to recruit or coerce the island. Qian Xunji's proposed false-flag attack, using Chuan Ling's banners, is undermined by the island's existing relationship with Chuan Ling. 283 293 297 301

The organization combines coercive diplomacy with public support measures. Its treatment of academy applicants is intended to win popular approval and ease eventual unification, while later references establish that Chuan Ling also provides poverty-relief support to villages. 174 349

Medical and fate-related services become further sources of leverage over Martial Soul Hall. Xu Xiao offers costly temporary and permanent treatments for Qian Xunji's dark-red threads, while Ye Shengxin's ability to regenerate severed limbs draws Ning Fengzhi's interest. These offers are negotiations rather than proof that every proposed territorial payment is accepted. 345

When Qian Renxue's red thread is believed to threaten her fortune and divine inheritance, Qian Daoliu again turns to Chuan Ling. Its successful removal results in the transfer of Martial Soul Hall, although the Qian family retains the Angel Sacred Realm. Chuan Ling's services remain explicitly territorial and transactional after the acquisition. Yue Guan proposes several price-and-timing options to capture Tang San, Tang Hao, and their allies, including control of all or half of the Heaven Dou Empire.
