History

Wang Teng’s reputation was built on extraordinary childhood encounters. At five, he could play with a flood dragon in a deep pool unharmed; at nine, he obtained the Langu Great Emperor’s inheritance, including the Langu Emperor Talisman and the Heavenly Emperor Sword. He later survived a fall into the Divine Phoenix Cave and obtained Undying Divine Phoenix Blood. These events led many to believe he was destined to attain the Dao and become a Great Emperor. 87

His renown elevated the Northern Plains Wang Family, whose members repeatedly proclaimed that he possessed the potential of a Great Emperor. The family’s dependence on his status also contributed to its arrogance and domineering conduct. 87 116

At the Yaochi Flat Peach Grand Gathering, Wang Teng sent a Dao avatar to confront Fang Yang on behalf of Wang Chong. The avatar wagered the Secret of Foreknowledge against Fang Yang’s Secret of Weapon, but Fang Yang defeated it after entering the God Prohibition domain. 110 111

Wang Teng later accepted the loss more rationally than his father, agreeing to exchange the Secret of Foreknowledge for the Heavenly Emperor Sword that Fang Yang had seized. He nonetheless intended to reclaim what had been lost after completing his Martial Dao Heavenly Eye. 117

After joining Qishi Mansion, Wang Teng remained in seclusion even as news of Fang Yang’s rapid advancement reached him. He dismissed Fang Yang’s slaughter of Mighty Figures at the Immortal Burial Ground as reliance on a formation, but became increasingly troubled by reports that Fang Yang had touched God Prohibition. By then, Wang Teng’s Martial Dao Heavenly Eye had taken shape, and he was cultivating another secret technique from the Langu Great Emperor’s inheritance. 124 129

Wang Teng later emerged after perfecting his divine arts. Upon learning that Fang Yang had reached the Immortal Second Realm and refined the Dao Tribulation Gold Cauldron into a King-Level Divine Weapon, he resolved to seek the Immortal Transformation Pool and test himself against the era’s foremost prodigies. 142

During the conflict surrounding the Immortal Transformation Pool, Wang Teng fought the Holy Prince in a prolonged battle. His Ten Thousand Spirits Become Dao, Countless as the Ganges Sands was torn apart by the Holy Prince’s iron staff, yet neither combatant could secure a decisive victory before Wang Teng was called away by urgent family affairs. The Holy Prince judged Wang Teng’s physical body to be slightly inferior to Fang Yang’s, while considering his other qualities broadly comparable. 150 153

The Wang Family subsequently sought an alliance with the Ji Family and arranged Wang Teng’s engagement to Ji Ziyue. After leaving seclusion, Wang Teng sought another confrontation with Fang Yang. During their battle on the Void Battle Platform, Fang Yang shattered his body with Primordial Sacred Light. The Immortal Crane later confirmed Wang Teng’s death and, prioritizing its duty to find a successor for the Langu Great Emperor, recognized Fang Yang as a viable replacement candidate. Despite this, the Wang Family publicly claimed that Wang Teng was undergoing rebirth while receiving the Langu Great Emperor’s true transmission, hoping to preserve its former prestige. 163 164 175

Fang Yang later annihilated the Northern Plains Wang Family with the Green Lotus Emperor Weapon, eliminating the clan that had relied on Wang Teng’s reputation. Wang Teng never returned in response to his family’s destruction, leading many cultivators to doubt the resurrection story.
