Background / History

The Demon-Slaying Division is the Qi Family's force for combating demons across Yong Province. Its members cultivate Qi Family immortal arts and are especially renowned for divine-soul techniques; Gu Nanzhi describes the Qi Family's Silver-Eyed White Wolf Immortal as unmatched in Yong Province on the path of the soul. The division's stated scope includes slaying Demon Lords and Demon Generals throughout the province. 79 105

Its demon-hunting system is closely tied to merit. Demon sightings can be assigned merit values, while personnel gain advancement and resources through demon-slaying achievements. Core Formation captains may seek promotion to deputy general by personally killing Demon Generals. 86 105

In response to activity around Stone Lake City and Demon Mountain, the division deployed ten black-armored deputy generals, several hundred Jade Fluid captains, and over a thousand recruits. The deployment combined demon-cleansing, merit accumulation, and troop training. 104

Under Xu Zhonglin, the division used Chang Yi and newly recruited runners as bait to draw demons from hiding. This campaign ended disastrously when Xu Zhonglin, Feng Yinglong, and their accompanying captains were killed by Devour Moon. 105 110 111

A later force led by the Ruan siblings arrived at Yong Province Pass to investigate the disappearance of Xu Zhonglin and other Immortal Scions. The division subsequently joined Yu Family forces in an attempted assault on Demon Mountain, but Devour Moon defeated five deputy generals, over a hundred captains, and several Yu Family Core Formation cultivators. 114 116 117

Despite these losses, the division remained active in Anren Prefecture. Lin Shu later entered its service to access information about the Qi Family and investigate threats to Seven Star Mountain, where Deputy General Lu Chengyu attempted to use him as bait against the Locust Demon General. 131 132

Stone Lake Deployment

The division's arrival at Stone Lake establishes it as a heavily armed Qi Family force capable of mobilizing hundreds of captains and over a thousand recruits. Its personnel are respected for their experience in tracking, demon slaying, and coordinated combat. 103 104 109

The operation quickly exposes its brutality: Gong Yue publicly binds Chang Yi, dismisses his humanity because of his demon relative, and uses him to lure demons into an ambush. 105

Conflict with Devour Moon

The division's soul defenses prevent Lin Shu's divided souls from infiltrating its officers, forcing him to rely on indirect surveillance and traps. 105 107

Xu Zhonglin's force enters Demon Mountain to hunt Devour Moon, only for Lin Shu to eliminate the captains with Netherfrost Miasma Thunder, kill Feng Yinglong, and have the Ink Flood Dragon Sword Bracelet consume Xu Zhonglin. 110 111

The Division's subsequent investigation and combined assault with Yu Family disciples end in a larger rout at Azure Nether Mountain. Devour Moon kills five deputy generals and more than a hundred captains, leaving the Division effectively wiped out in Demon Mountain. 114 117 119

Anren Prefecture Operations

The Division later recruits Lin Shu into its Seven Star Mountain operation. Lu Chengyu outwardly treats him with unusual respect, but intends to exploit the Locust Demon General to disgrace him before Qiankun Academy. 131 132

Its Vast-Yang Demon-Subduing Sword Formation is destroyed by Lin Shu with a single touch. Lin Shu subsequently returns to Anren Prefecture carrying the heads of the Locust Demon General and three Division lecturers, accusing the lecturers of colluding with demons. 133 135

The Division continues its campaigns against demon strongholds and demon hordes around Anren Prefecture. Its forces at Lingyun Stronghold, led by Tang Qizheng, are ultimately annihilated by Devour Moon. 138 140
