Background / History

Tang Wulin was born to Tang Ziran and was saved at birth when Han Li intercepted the Golden Dragon King’s attempt on his life. Han Li later regarded this intervention as removing the danger that the Golden Dragon King would have posed to Tang Wulin’s life. 1 18

On Awakening Day, Tang Wulin displayed innate full soul power and awakened twin martial souls: Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. He was thrilled by the apparent resemblance to Tang San, while Tang Ziran became concerned that his son might have an unknown connection to the Clear Sky Sect. 3

His family’s limited means prevented him from purchasing a hundred-year spirit soul. The Spirit Pagoda also refused to recruit him because Qiangu Dongfeng suspected his martial souls indicated ties to the Clear Sky Sect; Tang Wulin instead bought a random ten-year spirit soul for thirty thousand Federal Currency. 14

At East Sea Academy, Tang Wulin initially entered Class One and ranked first in its practical-combat training. After Han Li defeated him in one exchange, Wu Changkong offered to train him in Class Five and upgrade his spirit souls. Tang Wulin accepted the transfer to pursue greater strength. 14 16

After later joining Shrek Academy, Tang Wulin continued refining his twin martial souls and entered the Star Luo Empire’s youth tournament as a four-ring Soul Ancestor. His lack of the Golden Dragon King bloodline left him without the innate suppression over dragon-type martial souls that he would otherwise have possessed. 95

Following Tang San’s soul fragment taking control of his body and escaping with him from the Star Luo tournament, Tang Wulin was brought into seclusion under Tang Hao’s protection. He also shows gratitude and responsibility toward his companions. During the Riot Spirit Ascension Platform assessment, he sincerely appreciates Han Li’s protection while taking the lead in his team’s formation. 34

Tang Wulin remains resilient even when faced with overwhelming defeats. After Long Yue severely injures him in their tournament match, he endures the setback; during his later seclusion, he repeatedly practices the Clear Sky Hammer rather than resigning himself to hiding from Han Li. 95 137

Tang Wulin’s exceptional awakening establishes him as a twin martial-soul user with innate full soul power, but financial hardship leaves him with only a ten-year spirit ring. At East Sea Academy, his belief in his practical-combat ability leads him to challenge Han Li, only to be defeated in one blow. 3 14 15

Training Under Wu Changkong

Seeking the strength to overcome his shortcomings, Tang Wulin transfers from Class One to Class Five under Wu Changkong. His spirit souls advance to the hundred-year level and he becomes a two-ring Great Soul Master, but Han Li defeats him again with a single strike. 16 23 25

Class Promotion Tournament

After special training, Tang Wulin defeats Classes Two through Four by himself, promoting Class Five to Class Two. His advance stops at Class One, where Gu Yue defeats him without allowing him to reach her. 26

Zero Class and the Spirit Ascension Platform

As part of Zero Class, Tang Wulin enters the Riot Spirit Ascension Platform with Gu Yue and Xie Xie. He leads the team’s formation and survives encounters with spirit beasts, while Han Li intervenes only when a ten-thousand-year Phantom Crystal Butterfly overwhelms the group. 33 34 35

Wu Changkong’s Death

Tang Wulin later encounters Han Li again and is trapped with him and Wu Changkong inside the black-and-white alternate dimension created by Heaven and Earth Black and White. He watches Han Li destroy Wu Changkong’s Sky Frost Sword, battle armor, and body, leaving him shocked and traumatized. 58

Star Luo Tournament and Tang San’s Intervention

As a four-ring Soul Ancestor of Shrek Academy, Tang Wulin faces Long Yue in the youth tournament’s individual-event final. Without the Golden Dragon King bloodline to suppress the Mountain Dragon King, he is overwhelmed by Long Yue’s Mountains and Rivers and River soul skills and suffers severe injuries. 95

Following the defeat, Tang San’s soul fragment takes control of Tang Wulin’s body when Han Li attempts to take him. The fragment uses the Sea God Trident and Unfixed Storm to create a spatial rift, escaping with Tang Wulin. 96

Secluded Training Under Tang Hao

Tang Wulin spends years hidden in an isolated mountain valley under Tang Hao’s guidance. He trains the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, develops into a nine-ring Title Douluo by age fifteen, and continues striving to master the Great Sumeru Hammer before returning home. 136 137
