Background / History
Shrek is a soul master academy with a twenty-thousand-year legacy. Its long-standing weight-bearing and endurance-focused “Running to God” training method is said to have produced numerous top-tier powerhouses, including god-level figures. 11
Tang San revitalized Shrek alongside the founding of the Tang Sect. Since then, the academy and Clear Sky Sect have shared interests and mutual support: Clear Sky Sect disciples generally do not enroll at Shrek, but the sect assists when Shrek requires it. 14
Shrek and the Spirit Pagoda were once on good terms. Their relationship collapsed after Supreme Elder Long Yeyue publicly slapped then-Pagoda Master Qiangu Dieting; Elder Bei’s personal intervention prevented more serious consequences, but Long Yeyue’s subsequent conduct deepened the grievance until the two organizations became bitter rivals. 40
Shrek’s institutional decline began when Han Li publicly defeated its Sky Sea Grand Competition team, ending its claimed undefeated record. Its subsequent attempts to suppress and kill Han Li instead resulted in the deaths of Cai Yue'er and Long Yeyue, the defeat of Yun Ming, and the annihilation of the Sea God Pavilion’s remaining elders. 44 60 65 103 105
Following the fall of its senior leadership and Yun Ming, Shrek lost all effective governance. Its teachers and students scattered to the Spirit Pagoda, War God Hall, Federation institutions, or their hometowns, while its accumulated manuals, soul bones, treasures, and other resources were divided among outside forces. 107
Philosophy and Training
Shrek presents victory as the only acceptable standard for its students. Its culture rejects the ideas that effort alone is sufficient or that participation has value; students are taught that they must win and have no excuse to lose. 24
- Victory above process — Shrek’s creed holds that results determine who is right, regardless of the methods or price required to achieve them. 24
- Individual tempering — Freshmen are required to complete final-assessment tasks independently, including traveling between cities and challenging local soul masters. 57
- Running training — Every generation undergoes a harsh running regimen intended to push weight-bearing capacity, endurance, and physical limits. 11
- Selective recruitment — The academy views exceptional external talents as desirable additions to preserve its long-term strength and prestige. 37 51 52
- Reputation-focused examinations — Although freshmen are formally assessed through combat in multiple cities, they may select their own opponents, enabling them to target weaker soul masters and preserve Shrek’s public image. 59
Organization
Sea God Pavilion
The Sea God Pavilion was Shrek’s highest governing body. Its elders deliberated on major threats, institutional reputation, recruitment, and retaliation. 50 51 61
The Pavilion ceased to function after Han Li defeated Yun Ming and hunted down the elders who attempted to flee. 103 105
- Yun Ming — Sea God Pavilion Master and Shrek’s strongest figure; a Peak Quasi-God. He initially considered recruiting Han Li, later attacked the Spirit Pagoda and personally confronted Han Li. He was ultimately defeated during Han Li’s assault on Shrek. 51 61 66 68 103 105
- Long Yeyue — Supreme Elder and one of the “Shrek Twin Moons”; a rank 99 Limit Douluo with the Holy Sacred Dragon and Dark Sacred Dragon martial souls. Han Li killed her in Maple Leaf City. 51 61 63 65
- Cai Yue'er — Outer Court Dean, Sea God Pavilion Elder, and the other “Shrek Twin Moon”; a level 94 Titled Douluo known as the Silver Moon Douluo. Han Li killed her in Star Luo City. 51 59 60
- Zhuo Shi — Sea God Pavilion elder and Shen Yi’s master. He was the last identified Sea God Pavilion elder pursued by Han Li during the academy’s annihilation. 50 51 105
- Shen Yi — Lead teacher of Shrek’s Sky Sea Grand Competition youth team. She was severely injured and left unconscious after challenging Han Li while using Two-Word Battle Armor. 45 46
- Ya Li — A Shrek defender who attempted to prevent Han Li from absorbing the Golden Ancient Tree. After Han Li severed her connection to Yun Ming, she broke through to rank 99 Limit Douluo but could not stop the tree’s absorption. 106
Known Strength
Before its annihilation, excluding Yun Ming, Shrek was described as comparatively weak among the Federation’s four major powers at the highest cultivation levels.
| Rank | Known Shrek personnel |
|---|---|
| Peak Quasi-God | Yun Ming |
| Limit Douluo | Long Yeyue |
| Super Douluo | Five individuals |
| Title Douluo | More than forty individuals |
This strength was subsequently devastated by the deaths of Long Yeyue, Yun Ming, and the Sea God Pavilion elders, leaving the academy unable to retain its personnel or resources. 65 105 107

Relationships
- Tang Sect — Historically linked through Tang San; one of Shrek’s major supporting powers. The Tang Sect later joined Yun Ming’s coalition against Han Li. 14 40 81
- Clear Sky Sect — Long-term ally that generally aids Shrek when needed. 14
- Spirit Pagoda — Former ally turned bitter rival following Long Yeyue’s humiliation of Qiangu Dieting; their rivalry centered on influence, talent recruitment, and institutional prestige. The Spirit Pagoda later benefited from Shrek’s collapse and obtained a share of its divided resources. 38 40 107 108
- Qiangu Clan — Connected to the Spirit Pagoda; bore a decades-long grievance against Shrek over Qiangu Dieting’s public humiliation. Qiangu Dongfeng used Shrek’s fall to expand his influence within the Federation Council. 40 69 107
- War God Hall — Initially one of the Federation’s other major powers. Yun Ming recruited its master, Chen Xinjie, into the alliance against Han Li, in part by invoking Chen Xinjie’s feelings for Long Yeyue. 61 81
- Han Li — Initially regarded as a recruitable peerless genius, then treated as a hostile threat after he defeated Shrek students, crippled Shen Yi, and killed Cai Yue'er and Long Yeyue. He later defeated Yun Ming, annihilated the Sea God Pavilion’s elders, absorbed the Golden Ancient Tree, and destroyed Shrek as an institution. 51 52 60 65 103 105 106
- Wu Changkong — Shrek alumnus and East Sea Academy teacher whose loyalty to Shrek drove him to recruit talented students for the academy. 27 28 37
Major Arcs
Sky Sea Grand Competition
Shrek enters the Sky Sea Grand Competition despite ordinarily avoiding local events. Its participation is viewed by the Sky Sea Alliance as an assertion of superiority, since Shrek recruits geniuses from across the Federation and had never previously needed such regional competition. 40
The academy’s seven-member youth team faces Han Li alone. Han Li declares that one person is enough and that adding allies would risk Shrek losing too embarrassingly; he then defeats all seven students with a single punch. 43 44
Shen Yi accuses the event of being rigged and challenges the legitimacy of Han Li’s victory. Han Li subsequently defeats her despite her Two-Word Battle Armor, leaving her unconscious and severely injured. 45 46
The defeat destroys Shrek’s claimed twenty-thousand-year undefeated myth and provokes a Sea God Pavilion crisis meeting. 50
Attempted Recruitment of Han Li
Rather than immediately escalating punishment after the Sky Sea incident, Yun Ming argues that Han Li’s talent could make him Shrek’s future successor and preserve the academy’s prosperity. The elders agree to recruit him, while Cai Yue'er and Long Yeyue plan to discipline and supervise him after enrollment. 51 52
Han Li rejects this presumed path by leaving the continent and joining the Blood God Legion at age ten. 52
Freshman Assessment Conflict
During Shrek’s freshman final examinations, Han Li challenges and defeats freshmen across multiple cities. Teachers accompanying the students repeatedly intervene against him under the pretext that he is disrupting the examination. 59
The narrative reveals that freshmen may select their own opponents, allowing them to choose weaker targets and protect Shrek’s public reputation. 59
After Han Li kills a Shrek teacher in Star Luo City, Cai Yue'er confronts him. She is subsequently killed, triggering Federation-wide shock and Shrek’s demand for retaliation. 59 60
Deaths of the Shrek Elders
Long Yeyue is sent to confront the presumed force behind Cai Yue'er’s death. She attacks Han Li in Maple Leaf City, using her pressure to force civilians to kneel; Han Li disperses the pressure, injures her, and later kills her after his True Dragon martial soul overwhelms her twin dragon martial souls. 63 64
The deaths of Cai Yue'er and Long Yeyue lead Shrek to issue a Shrek Kill Order against Han Li. 65
Yun Ming attacks the Spirit Pagoda and later battles Han Li personally. Han Li survives Yun Ming’s full-force strike through his healing ability, forcing Yun Ming to retreat. 66 68 69
Shrek subsequently cancels its freshmen’s final examination, unable to continue it while Han Li repeatedly disrupts and humiliates its students. 69
Alliance Against Han Li
Concerned by Han Li’s accelerating growth and suspecting his involvement in the destruction of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Yun Ming sought external support rather than relying solely on Shrek’s depleted high-level strength. 80 81
Yun Ming persuaded Zang Xin of the Tang Sect and Chen Xinjie of the War God Hall to join a coalition against Han Li. Chen Xinjie’s agreement was driven in part by the revelation of Long Yeyue’s death. 81
The alliance failed to secure Shrek’s safety. Yun Ming later returned to the academy injured and reclusive, while Chen Xinjie and Zang Xin disappeared, leading Shrek’s elders to fear that Han Li had killed them. 101
Total Annihilation
Han Li returned to Shrek City in a colossal divine form and openly declared his intent to destroy the academy. Yun Ming attempted to deter him by invoking Shrek’s ties to the Sea God and Asura God, but Han Li revealed himself and rejected any possibility of sparing Shrek. 103
After Han Li defeated Yun Ming, the Sea God Pavilion elders begged for mercy and offered surrender, disavowing Cai Yue'er and Long Yeyue. Han Li allowed them to flee, then hunted them down one by one; Zhuo Shi was the final identified elder caught in the pursuit. 105
Ya Li attempted to protect the Golden Ancient Tree, Shrek’s accumulated foundation of life force and spiritual power. Han Li severed her connection to Yun Ming, absorbed the tree’s power with the Golden Dragon Spear, and used its life force to manage the surge caused by the sixteenth Golden Dragon King seal. 106
Dissolution and Carving Up
In the months after the annihilation, Shrek’s remaining teachers and students lost their leadership and dispersed to multiple factions or returned home. The academy’s ancient books, secret manuals, soul bones, heavenly treasures, and warehouse reserves were looted and divided. 107
When Han Li returned to Sea God Island, he found its buildings intact but emptied, with Shrek reduced to an abandoned shell. The Spirit Pagoda and other forces had assumed that he had no interest in the academy’s mortal resources, prompting Han Li to demand compensation from Qiangu Dongfeng. 107 108
