Background

Wuming lost her parents during the Warring States period. Their deaths triggered her Mangekyō Sharingan awakening, but the power she received became the basis for her persecution by her own clan. The Uchiha feared her ability, stripped her original name, imprisoned her, and treated her as a weapon rather than a person. Uchiha Naoto's research group forcibly implanted ninjutsu in her body and allowed continued mistreatment to intensify her emotional turmoil and ocular power 2 4.

Her ability, Eight Thousand Spears, made her especially valuable to Naoto: branded targets could supply her chakra across any distance, theoretically allowing her to fuel powerful ninjutsu indefinitely. The clan consequently sent her to battle repeatedly, where she became a feared killing machine despite being isolated and despised by fellow Uchiha 4 6.

Uchiha Hiri proposed placing the recently captured Uchiha Chigusa—also called Qiancao—in Wuming's cell. Officially, the plan was intended to form an emotional bond and later destroy it to provoke further growth in Wuming's Sharingan. Instead, Wuming and Chigusa became genuine friends, then partners and lovers 2 3 24.

Wuming is a black-haired Uchiha woman whose appearance changes notably over the three-year interval following her escape from the Uchiha. She is often described as carrying a distant, unapproachable presence despite her attachment to Chigusa 47.

Personality

She initially viewed herself as a weapon and showed little concern for her own comfort or future. Her hostility toward Uchiha Hiri stemmed from Hiri's role in the procedures performed on her 3 4 24.

Despite this exterior, Wuming is deeply compassionate and protective. She heals Chigusa when he is injured, attacks Keisuke after he abuses him, teaches him language and ninjutsu, and repeatedly prioritizes his safety during combat 2 4 6 7 16. Chigusa's acceptance gradually gives her a sense of home and belonging; she comes to associate their former cell with the security of being alone with him 9 39.

Wuming is shy and physically affectionate in private, but often becomes flustered when her feelings are openly acknowledged. Her devotion to Chigusa is absolute: when asked where she wished to live, she answered that it did not matter as long as she was with him 24 38.

Uchiha Captivity

Wuming is held in an Uchiha dungeon as Naoto's experimental weapon. Hiri places Chigusa in her cell as part of a plan to manipulate Wuming's emotions, but the two instead form a sincere connection 2 4.

She marks Chigusa with Eight Thousand Spears to sustain him, teaches him language, chakra control, and basic ninjutsu, and continues to endure forced combat missions for the Uchiha 4 6 9.

Mount Hakkoda Mission

Wuming accompanies Chigusa, Shiri, and Keisuke on a mission to Mount Hakkoda. She protects Chigusa against Senju opponents, fights Senju Arashi, and reveals the full battlefield utility of her Sharingan, Eight Thousand Spears, and Tsukuyomi 14 18.

Keisuke's surprise attack leaves her critically wounded, prompting Chigusa's Mangekyō awakening. Wuming survives, later heals Chigusa, and chooses to remain in reality rather than accept an illusory life without him 18 19 23.

Escape and Senju Alliance

After escaping the Uchiha's control, Wuming travels with Chigusa, Shiri, and Arashi. She is initially treated with suspicion by the Senju but is defended by Arashi as her friend 27 29 32.
