History

Third Shinobi World War

Uchiha Chen returns to Konoha after being severely injured on the front lines and completes his recovery in the Uchiha compound with Tsunade’s assistance 2 4. During this period, Jiraiya and Tsunade’s conflict over taking Chen as a disciple destroys his residence; Hiruzen orders it rebuilt, and the restored house is made identical to the original 10 12 16.

Sunagakure later advances toward Konoha in force. The village prepares Mount Kikyo for a defensive battle, while nearly a thousand refugees from Hot Spring Village are admitted and settled after Uchiha Chen saves them from Sunagakure forces 38 39. Konoha repels the assault despite Chiyo’s puppets, Pakura’s Scorch Release, and Shukaku’s deployment 40 42 43.

Minato’s Administration and the Allied Villages

Namikaze Minato becomes the Fourth Hokage following the war 49. When Kumogakure attacks during Uchiha Chen’s disappearance, the conflict ends after the Fourth Raikage concedes and pledges that Kumogakure will not invade Konoha again 85 111. The two villages subsequently form an alliance, later formalized during the Fourth Raikage’s diplomatic visit to Konoha 111 127.

Konoha also gains an alliance with Kirigakure after Terumi Mei becomes Fifth Mizukage, abolishes the Bloody Mist policy, opens the village’s ports, and signs an agreement with Minato 166.

Uchiha Coup Crisis

Members of the Uchiha clan organize a planned coup despite Minato’s comparatively favorable treatment of the clan. Uchiha Chen and Uchiha Shisui report the plot to Konoha’s leadership, preventing an immediate massacre advocated by Danzō and several advisers 123 124 125.

Danzō’s attempt to steal Shisui’s Sharingan escalates the crisis. Chen saves Shisui, Danzō is killed, and Root is removed from Danzō’s control 142 153 166. The coup ultimately ends after Fugaku kills Uchiha Setsuna and Chen defeats Uchiha Obito; Shisui succeeds Fugaku as Uchiha clan head 166.

Cultivation Era

Chen’s cultivation draws spiritual energy across Konoha, causing widespread increases in the chakra levels of its shinobi. Minato and Hiruzen initially regard the phenomenon as an unexplained miracle, then encourage training during its occurrence 168 171 175.

The village’s overall strength rises substantially during the following years. Spirit Gathering Arrays and cultivation instruction become available to prominent shinobi and younger students, while Konoha’s children develop abilities far beyond ordinary expectations 175 178 189 209.

Akatsuki Invasion

Akatsuki later invades Konoha under the Six Paths of Pain and Ōtsutsuki Isshiki. Konoha’s patrol units follow Minato’s withdrawal orders, while its young elite intercept the attackers and rapidly defeat several invading members 241 242. The village withstands further battles against Pain, Isshiki, and Uchiha Madara through the intervention of Naruto, Might Guy, Kakashi, and Uchiha Chen 249 252 254 264.

Alliances

• Kumogakure — The Fourth Raikage ends the invasion, performs the Seal of Reconciliation with Minato, and later signs a formal alliance treaty in Konoha 111 127.
• Kirigakure — Terumi Mei establishes an alliance after becoming Fifth Mizukage and ending the Bloody Mist policy 166.
