Background / History

Split by the Tiger Talisman

Tang San found the Book of Antiquity with the Tiger Talisman embedded within it. When he removed the talisman, it split him into two beings: True Tang San, who retained his righteous and selfless qualities, and Evil Tang San, who openly rejected family, love, and the master-disciple bond. 42 43

The two halves fought over the Book of Antiquity and Tang San's Immortal Herbs. Evil Tang San used Black Silver Entanglement and Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to seize the book, then manipulated Yu Xiaogang and the Shrek students into accepting him as the real Tang San by feigning injury and devotion. True Tang San was driven away from Shrek. 43

Break with Shrek

Evil Tang San recovered while pretending to be weak, privately deciding that the Talismans, Book of Antiquity, Immortal Herbs, and Shrek itself should belong to him alone. He borrowed Oscar's Ox Talisman for a classroom demonstration, used it to crater the ground with one punch, and intended to keep it rather than return it. 45 49

When Dugu Bo arrived with True Tang San and demanded that Evil Tang San reveal his altered soul skills, he abandoned his disguise. He broke Dugu Bo's Poison Dragon Hammer, sent the Titled Douluo flying with an Ox Talisman-enhanced punch, stole the Book of Antiquity, and fled Shrek. 49

Xiao Wu's sacrifice and martial soul evolution

After consuming an Immortal Herb, Evil Tang San captured Xiao Wu and exposed her identity as a hundred-thousand-year soul beast rebuilding her cultivation. He demanded that she sacrifice herself so he could claim her soul ring and Spirit Bone. 53

By the time he entered the Star Dou Great Forest, Tang San had absorbed his fifth soul ring and become a level 53 Soul King. Xiao Wu's soul ring caused his Blue Silver Grass to evolve into the Blue Silver Emperor and granted him the Blue Silver Domain. 56

Clear Sky Sect succession

Tang San joined the resurgent Clear Sky Sect and represented it in the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Tournament. Tang Chen regarded him as the sect's hope because of his Twin Martial Souls and hundred-thousand-year fifth soul ring. 85 86

Before his death, Tang Chen confronted Tang San about his deception at Shrek, the stolen treasures, and Xiao Wu's soul ring. Rather than punish him, Tang Chen judged Tang San's selfishness and strength suitable for the sect's future, named him the fourth Clear Sky Sect Master, and gave him the Asura Sword and its divine inheritance. 108

Bo Saixi subsequently cared for Tang San, and he received Tang Chen's Spirit Bone as well as further support from her. 108 120

God Realm and Shendu's control

Tang San triggered the Sea God's inheritance trial while carrying the Asura inheritance, resulting in his ascent to the God Realm as a dual divine-position inheritor. The God of Evil discovered that half of Tang San's soul was absent and replaced by the God of Evil's power. 120 121

Shendu's consciousness resided within Tang San, controlled his actions, reviewed his memories, and threatened him into silence. Tang San feared Shendu but obeyed his commands, gathering divine arts and acting as Shendu's agent among the gods. 128 140 141

At Shendu's order, Tang San entered the God Realm Arena. After he was critically wounded by the Forest God, Shendu took control of his body and used the Asura Blood Sword to defeat the Forest God and Ghost; Tang San later claimed the victories came from secret techniques and the Asura inheritance. 179 181 182 184

Death

Shendu later used Tang San's altered body to infiltrate Dragon God's Forbidden Land while carrying all eight Demon Auras. When Shendu abruptly withdrew his consciousness, Tang San briefly regained control and rejoiced at being free. The Golden Dragon King mistook him for an enemy, swallowed him whole, and absorbed the eight Demon Auras, killing him. 228
