Background / History
Zhong Su’s power was originally obtained by Yu Qingtian, whose martial soul evolved into the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon. Yu Qingtian founded the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Family and instructed his descendants to honor Zhong Su as their ancestor. He later sealed the demon’s power in a Thunder Stone for Zhong Su’s eventual return. 24
Shendu orchestrated Zhong Su’s release by opening Demon Hell after Yu Yuanzhen completed the second of the Patriarch’s Nine Trials. Zhong Su emerged above the sect’s ancestral land in a storm of lightning, celebrating his freedom. 25 26
Initially hostile toward the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Family, Zhong Su nearly killed Yu Yuanzhen. After absorbing Shendu’s Demon Memory Orb, he remembered his past and accepted the clan as servants rather than destroying them outright. 27
Following his defeat by Tang Chen in Slaughter City, Zhong Su dispersed himself into lightning rather than allow the Asura Sword to seal him. He subsequently recovered by drawing upon thunder and lightning, released Xiao Feng from a Demon Gate, and gradually regained much of his former power. 48 50 53
Zhong Su later destroyed the Thunder God Temple after it granted him the Thunder God’s Nine Trials, thereby depriving Yu Yuanzhen of his own divine assessment. When the Thunder God attempted to send divine consciousness into Douluo World in retaliation, Zhong Su intercepted and destroyed it. 153 154
At Shendu’s request, Zhong Su eventually granted Yu Yuanzhen a complete strand of Thunder Demon Aura to help carry the Eight Demons’ elemental power into the God Realm as part of Shendu’s plan to revive the Dragon God. 194
Appearance
Zhong Su is a completely blue, ferocious demon surrounded by crackling lightning. His thick limbs and brutal aura make his arrival visibly distinct from ordinary soul masters. 26
- Blue body and heavy, powerful build.
- Lightning constantly coils around or radiates from his body.
- Often travels by riding lightning through the sky.
- His blood is red. 46 48
- When exerting his power to its fullest, he can expand into a colossal demon more than three hundred zhang tall and create an ocean of lightning centered on Thunder City. 234
Personality
Zhong Su is exceptionally arrogant, violent, and dismissive of both humans and fellow demons. He considers himself the strongest of the Eight Demons, treats weaker beings as beneath notice, and remains contemptuous even toward stronger opponents. 26 32
He is quick-tempered and reacts to perceived disrespect with lightning attacks. His rule over Thunder City is based on fear, forced service, and absolute obedience rather than loyalty. 28 31 40 46
Despite his confidence, Zhong Su can panic when faced with sealing or defeat. After Tang Chen’s Asura Sword overwhelmed him, he scattered his body into countless lightning bolts rather than submit. 48
Zhong Su is unusually dedicated to cultivation compared with the other Eight Demons, repeatedly restoring and refining his strength through lightning. His determination to become stronger is closely tied to his obsessive rivalry with Hsi Wu and his desire to erase past humiliations. 114 167 168
Although he resents Shendu’s authority and has repeatedly challenged or belittled him, Zhong Su has become more restrained when confronted with Shendu’s overwhelming strength. He reluctantly complied with Shendu’s request to provide Yu Yuanzhen with Thunder Demon Aura. 77 78 170 194
