Background

Ye Guyi descends from Qian Renxue's Angel Clan lineage. After Qian Renxue's defeat by Tang San and the destruction of Spirit Hall, the surviving family members abandoned the surname Qian for Ye to evade persecution. The clan later migrated to the Sun Moon Continent, but its holy Angel martial souls made it a continuing target of the Holy Spirit Cult. 12

When Ye Guyi was a child, Holy Spirit Cult Evil Soul Masters discovered her family's refuge. Her parents fought to protect her and were killed, leaving her alone and shaping her lasting hatred of Evil Soul Masters. 13

Qian Daoliu encountered Ye Guyi while purging Evil Soul Masters and recognized their shared Angel lineage. After comparing the Spirit Hall Grand Elder token with her inherited bloodline token, she accepted him as the grandfather of her ancestor Qian Renxue and addressed him as her ancestor. 12

Qian Daoliu rebuilt Spirit Hall at Ye Guyi's request and for her sake; the organization was later called Soul Hall to avoid attracting unwanted attention. 13 Following her coronation, Ye Guyi restored the organization's original name of Spirit Hall. 66

Her childhood trauma gives her intense hatred for Evil Soul Masters and a strong impulse to protect civilians from them. She can be emotionally restrained in public, yet is deeply attached to Qian Daoliu, whose return and protection give her a sense of family she lacked growing up. 17 34 39

She is humble before powerful opportunities, initially attempting to refuse the Sin Sun-Radiance Holy Tiger's torso bone despite its compatibility with her martial soul. She nevertheless possesses firm resolve, accepting the danger of a 100,000-year eighth soul ring for Soul Hall's future. 40 41
